Donald Trump's foul mouth is just a cover for his ignorance
The Washington Post ^ | February 8, 2016 | Michael Gerson

Posted on 02/08/2016 7:51:33 PM PST by EveningStar

...In real life, expletives are often used as a form of aggression or cruelty. A co-worker who tells you to Trump yourself is usually being unpleasant. A co-worker who does this every day is often creating a hostile or demeaning work environment. Language suitable for decent company is a form of politeness, which is a species of respect, which is an expression of morality. And if I am the last holdout on this issue, so be it. I don't really give a damn.

Win or lose, Trump has brought the language and sensibilities of cable TV to presidential politics...

You Cruzbots need to man up and quit acting like little girls. Come to think of it the lady has a point. In the latest debate when Ted was asked his position on “waterboarding” he quoted a statement by John McCain and basically hid behind John’s skirt. Shame, shame, shame.

When Trump was asked the same question in regards to “waterboarding” he said hell yes and more if need be. That shows true leadership by Trump and not hiding behind someone else like Ted did. So yes the lady does have a point.

Let us hope not. In real life, expletives are often used as a form of aggression or cruelty.

I had a classmate in junior high school back in the Sixties that used expletives as punctuation.

In the Eighties I cut a good friend loose due to his utterly foul mouth because I did not want my young impressionable daughter to hear any of it. I am sure his children were a conundrum to the teachers when they reached school age.

Mister Gerson needs to crawl down from his tower and wake to reality. Decorum is a good thing but let's not blind ourselves to the way the world actually works.

I looked at the Washington Post's coverage of the 2015 Golden Globes Awards. There was not one mention of he obscenities spoken there. The Daily Mail called it the most foul-mouth Golden Globes in history. For instance, Trainwreck star Amy Schumer let fly with the C-word just minutes after the awards show got under way and, Host Ricky Gervais asked Mel Gibson: 'What the f*** does sugart**s mean?'

I watched the 2015 Golden Globes Awards and there were so many sound breaks, I thought my cable box was losing sound.

Der Hildebeast is legendary in her foul-mouth. She let's every expletive in the book fly along with a few lamp stands.

Liberals are only offended when a Republican uses colorful language.

“I know who is and who isn’t a Putin butt kisser.”

I have a problem with this. To know that, you must be monitoring Putin’s butt. Why are you doing that? Is it to count the traffic, or do you just like the landscape?

You should try a woman. Unless you are one of course, in which case I take it all back. And in which case you should not try a woman.

In the immortal words of Ronald Reagan, “Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”, as opposed to Trump’s “It is always a great honor to be so nicely complimented by a man so highly respected within his own country and beyond. Big difference there. In other words, YOU are no Ronald Reagan, Mr Trump!

Don’t like Michael Gerson at all.

On the other hand, I am tired of coarse. A little judiciously used can be effective. But we are well past that ...

I think it is idiotic to give away votes s cheaply. Trump allowed his bemusement To get the best of him. He did well all day. Felt like he let his guard down in the last 20 minutes of the day.

Disappointing really. Should not lose votes so cheaply. Hopefully he won’t be lamenting this next week when he heads down a South. He will not get away with any of this in a week.

If you are equating Trump in any way with Obama, you are just plain wrong.

Obama could hardly manage a lemonade stand, whereas trump is a mega developer. No way similar.

I was with you till you recommended the True Grit remake. Sorry, the original was the gold standard; didn’t need remaking.

Depends. What is your point? Do you think everyone is supposed to be prim and proper, talk about flowers and rainbows, and hold hands and sing kumbaya. We are seeing the Middle Ages repeat themselves and we are worried about someone saying pussy.

You really are politically naive, aren’t you? Everyone of the candidates in this race want MONEY and power, except Trump. He’s the only one not asking for money. Ever wonder why a candidate spends millions of dollars to get a job that pays $175,000 a year? They get in office and write sweetheart deals for themselves and line their pockets with lobbyist and special interest money. Wake up - the future of our country depends on it.
