Few people will talk about this, and fewer will even want to acknowledge it, but what Donald Trump did before the debate even began shows the measure of a real manâs worth.
At the beginning of the ABC debate, each of the candidates were being introduced in a specific order. The first name called to the stage was Chris Christie. The applause was loud and lingered through the time when Martha Raddatz called the second candidate Ben Carson.
Dr. Carson did not hear his name called (easy to understand why when you listen to the video) and stood in the entry-way. The moderators, with their backs to the candidates, didnât notice his absence and called the third name on the list, Ted Cruz.
Ted walked past Dr. Carson and onto the stage. Carson remained in the awkward, and embarrassing position, âno-mans-landâ, on-camera but out of sight of the live audience.
What happened next shows the remarkable character of Donald Trump.
The fourth name called was Donald Trump, but by then the back-stage crew and candidates were aware of Dr. Carsonsâ position. Trump slowly approached, and then realized the embarrassing position of a fellow candidate hanging in the wind.
Trump showed his leadership by standing right next to his friend, and not walking onto the stage.
The other names continued to be called, and proceeded as mentioned. But not Donald Trump, he remained with his colleague thereby reducing the internal anxiety felt by Carson.
It would have been very easy for Trump to walk by Ben, just like all the other candidates did. But instead he chose to wait, and remove the embarrassment factor by infinite magnitudes.
Then, like a boss, when Dr. Carson was called to the stage, Trump waited and allowed Ben to get the audience response and appreciation. It takes a lot of courage to make split second decisions like this, and it shows a remarkable insight into the manâs character.
Watch.
Rough edges don’t hide character. I’ve known people with unpolished manners and ugly language who were solid gold in their hearts.

LOL ! He has not spewed anything untruthful .. everything he says can be backed up with facts , and he is very careful about staying honest with his assertions and statements ... in regards to the cussing, well we have had “polite” candidates and we see where that has gotten us ...
at least Trump didn’t pull the devious scheme that Cruz pulled in Iowa ...talk about shady and dishonest , Cruz is it
It was pure class and says a lot about the man.
absolutely!
Nicely put,TD
They weren’t running for president.
What he said about Carly, what he has said about Cruz, what he said about Megyn Kelly, and so much more, was simply classless.
There are better ways to say you’re going to wipe out ISIS. Trump said he’d bomb the s—t out of them; Cruz said he’d bomb them back to the Stone Age and see if sand will glow in the dark. They’re saying essentially the same thing, and both forcefully, but Cruz says it in a little bit “classier” way.
Trump is ruthless, as his activities in Atlantic City show.
His behavior just disturbs a lot of people.
Sorry, you are very wrong. It's your unwillingness to acknowledge his graciousness that is lacking in class.
It was Trump who sponsored the rally to raise money for the veterans that was also a class act.
And to invite Santorum and Huckaby to the event, again a class act.
In all his rallies, he invites veterans, donors, minorities, etc. to the stage. The man doesn't mind sharing the spotlight. I wholehaeartedly disagree with you.
Did you notice how Rubio, Cruz and Bush walked past either Carson or Trump and Carson together in the walkway? Now, THAT WAS A LACK OF CLASS by all three men.
Actually, he has said things that are not truthful.
Excellent analysis. Trump pulled Carson's butt out of the fire.
If the debate is a search for a man of character, Trump won before it began.
Trump said heâd bomb the sât out of them; Cruz said heâd bomb them back to the Stone Age and see if sand will glow in the dark. Theyâre saying essentially the same thing, and both forcefully, but Cruz says it in a little bit âclassierâ way.
Cruz delivered that line AFTER Trump started saying he would bomb the &&& out of ISIS. Prior to that, wasn’t his position to install a no fly zone and go around and shoot down Russian planes? Anyway, Trump already took the S&&&t word, so Cruz had nothing left except to leave an image of nuclear weapon useage (sand glow in the dark?) Talk about nuking Denmark! Ted wants to Nuke Syria for chrissakes.
That was pretty amazing about Trump huh? Took a baseball bat to Carson.. Yep that I is Mr Trump alright!!!
This is rare. Trump has shown a lack of class throughout this campaign.
True not False!!!
We’ve listened to a phoney make excuses and blame others for seven years, while saying the opposite of what he means, and what I want hear, and at the same time, He uses cringeworthy expressions like ‘wee wee’d’up’, ‘stinkburger’ “I’m leading from behind “ that’s beyond my pay grade’, ‘I have to recalibrate’ ‘You fail to understand/acted stupidly’ ...
Sure he’s far from perfect, no one is, only one man waz. But am I happy with a guy who thinks and talks like I do? Who acts like a man?
Not happy, I’m damned ecstatic.
“His behavior just disturbs a lot of people.”
Good. There are a lot of people that need to be disturbed.
Richard Nixon, LBJ, Harry Trueman and Andrew Jackson all had famously foul mouths. While you can disagree with their policies I think it is fair to say they were all able to push their agenda forward and by that measure were effective - if not always good in my eyes - presidents
I wondered what happened. That was a good act by Trump. Thanks.
Jeb, of course, has to go by with an idiotic look on his face. Good going, Trump.
Trump had no idea what was going on anymore than anyone else. I think he was worried someone might upstage him.
You wish and that wont make it so.
