The government (Obama administration) reported that only 151,000 jobs were created last month and that the unemployment rate DROPPED to 4.9%, the lowest in 10 years. We all know that is bogus as they don't count the millions who are unemployed but are not looking for work. How do they get away with giving out false information? Of course we know the main stream media won't challenge them but what about our pundits and politicians?
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the headline unemployment rate. They also report a few flavors of Labor participation data, including the Civilian Labor Force Participation Rate. That rate is basically what you are talking about, and the number aren’t pretty. If that rate isn’t exactly what you want, there are a dozen other variants.
The numbers are reported, generally pretty good, and mostly ignored by media and the public. Go to BLS.gov

That’s right; Obama and the media that foisted him on us (twice) work for the same people. Twenty years ago there wouldn’t even be a race in November; the Republican primary would determine the next president. People today are so ignorant and gullible, this November will be close regardless of the candidates (and both Dem contenders have pledged undying support for Obama’s agenda!).
That’s right; if a Republican ever wins the White House again we’ll hear about homeless, hungry children (despite the diabetes epidemic ravaging our “poor” people), and McJobs. The Dems, in fact, have even managed to move the goalposts: We are now being accused of racism despite electing our first mulatto president twice. Normally race issues were kept in reserve until a Republican was president; now it is a permanent fixture (since Obama’s terms have done nothing to lift blacks out of their self-inflicted misery).
New unemployment claims used to be released every Thursday for the week prior.
I have not seen those figures for months.
Obama is hiding those figures, which were running about 375,000 NEW CLAIMS per WEEK. That adds up to over 1.4 million NEW claims pere month. Then they claim 151,000 new jobs & say the UNEMPLOYMENT went down.
I am a life long bookkeeper. IF I kept such balances in my clients’ checkbooks, we would all be overdrawn.
Obama & his ‘TRANSPARENT’ administration are charletons & LIARS. I hope to live long enough to see this all topple over onto all of them.

Some renegade media guy actually asked Baraq today about middle class “underemployment” and he said that was Bush’s fault.
It’s okay when pubs get back into the WH the unemployment rate will magically rise again and the only thing that will be able to stop the rise will be a demoRAT prez.
Some think this will be sarcasm and in fact its not. Its what the dems will believe and will be their talking points from the second year of the pub presidency.
Its the way they treat homeless in America. No stories on homeless while a dem is in office. The homeless rates are on the rise while a pub pres is in office.

If it seems like Obama is just spouting lunacy, keep in mind that he is speaking to his core (urban blacks). His mission was to preserve their preferential treatment while continuing the funding for their urban reservations, and for the most part he has succeeded. He rants about gun violence because that is the most visible symbol of their deteriorating condition in this country; employment, education, and assimilation were never the goals.
While most productive people view Castro’s communist revolution in Cuba as a complete failure, the very bottom of the socio-economic ladder there (blacks working in agriculture) probably did see an improvement in their daily lives (through access to education and healthcare, if nothing more). The flight of their educated non-blacks was ignored as long as funding from the USSR could maintain an illusion of prosperity; since that dried up they’ve been doubling their efforts to escape the island plantation. Think of American blacks as those black Cubans; they are still laboring under the misconception that Obama has somehow “succeeded” (though Ferguson & Baltimore, Obama’s true legacy, would indicate that less and less blacks believe anything has gotten better).
The true figure is closer to 30%. No body counts the college grads and high school grads who never were able to enter the job force. They do not count the people who gave up looking for a job, nor those the government put on disability because they ran out of UC. If the method used incorporated all of the above, the Great Depression would pale in comparison. All according to plan.
Well, the U-6 does take the people who have given up looking in their count. Also, the people who have expired their UC...
But, you are right...It IS much higher than what the government administration tells us.....

More interesting parts:
Males, 25-54, has gone down from 1994 to 2014, 91.7% to 88.2. That's 11.8% of the "prime working age" male labor force that is not employed.
Of the "65 and older" set, labor force participation has gone up from 16.9% to 23.0, indicating that more men are having difficulty making ends meet on just retirement income (pension, 401K)
Why?
Because Obama is president and there is no way to stop him
it’s that simple
the solution is to ignore his lies and endeavor to work around them as best you can till he is gone
his vindictive plan is to create as many obstacles and stumbling blocks for his certain Republican replacement as he can.
There are lies, damned lies, and statistics. Every administration that has ever put out numbers about anything filled those numbers with lies. And some folks understand that and ignore the numbers, and most folks don’t and take them as gospel. That’s how this one got away with these bogus numbers, and that’s how the next one will. Never believe any government numbers ever.

That is the way I’d read it. Although you might also be seeing an erosion of retirement (how many private sector pensions are there). And the the 20-25’s have taken a hit.
Overall, it’s not a pretty picture.
