Team Carson furious with Cruz
The Hill ^ | 4 Feb 16 | Easley

Posted on 02/04/2016 7:05:03 AM PST by xzins

Ben Carson and his closest advisers are going nuclear against Ted Cruz and his campaign for spreading false rumors that he intended to drop out ahead of the Iowa caucuses.

Carson's close friend and adviser Armstrong Williams told The Hill in an interview on Wednesdaythat the Cruz campaign’s tactics were 'nasty, brutal and deceitful.'

'We've been told all along that Cruz's operatives play dirty and were capable of this stuff, but Dr. Carson never believed it, he felt like they had a respectable operation,' Williams said. 'Now we see firsthand that having integrity just doesn't matter to them. It's about honor and character, either you have it or you don'.t'

Williams said he's certain that Cruz knew the rumors about him dropping out were false but says the Texas Republican allowed his underlings to spread it anyway.

'He's a pure politician and will do anything to win,' Williams said. 'It doesn't matter who he does it to, friend or foe, whatever it takes to win. Cruz has been running as an outsider and calling Hillary Clinton dishonest. Well, Cruz is the one running without honor or integrity, and this shows he's just like everyone else inside-the-beltway.'

Carson has demanded Cruz fire those responsible for spreading the rumor, but Cruz has said he won't do that.

"After all the candidates worked so hard, and Dr. Ben Carson had a staff member lose his life working towards this day, to have someone like Cruz and his people deceive and spread falsehoods is unconscionable," Williams said.

I expect if they had the tweet trail on Rubio the way they do on Cruz that they’d be going after both.

Oh, come on, now Xzins...I guess then the Carson team has a pretty selective tweet trail, then, eh?

From Uh Oh, Was Marco Rubio Guilty In The Ben Carson Dropout Rumor?

Excerpt from this link: What has not been said much throughout the day is that Florida Senator Marco Rubio‘s campaign worked actively to spread the message that Carson was leaving the presidential race. These actions were reported on Twitter by Conrad Close who, according to his Twitter profile, is the managing editor of Outset Magazine.

[You can go to the link to see a snapshot of Close's actual tweet...it reads:

"Rubio campaign pushing the narrative hard that Carson is dropping out. Obviously looking to pick up votes."]

Satisfied?

Per the link above: "Another interesting little tidbit about Close, that he shouts from the rooftops with his Twitter profile picture, is that he is Team Rubio with the statement below his picture, 'I’m voting for Marco Rubio.'

[So, it's not like Close was "anti-Rubio" & was attempting to sabotage him]

Ah, Goldman Sachs again...

“Eight of the Republican presidential hopefuls, Trump, Cruz, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Carly Fiorina, Chris Christie, and Jim Gilmore said in financial disclosures that were largely filed between June and August last year that they had owned Goldman funds or Goldman stock, and in some cases both. The disclosures mostly cover the period from the beginning of 2014 to the middle of last year.”

“Might want to check Limbaugh statement yesterday. He said Rubio team was first.”

Yes, there was evidence that Team Rubio was pushing the Carson story even before the Cruz operatives got involved...

Apparently Cruz was counting on idiots believing it. His own camp said to get the word out and try to persuade Carson voters to change.

Now WHY would they do that if they didn’t think Iowa voters were dumb enough to buy it?

You seem to be basing all your decision making on the person of a candidate, not his observed behavior. So since Ted Cruz is a “consistent conservative”, one can ignore all matter of questionable behavior on his part. Good luck with that.

>> Expect him to go to the RNC for a ruling.

Good luck with that! Expect Carson to lose such a ruling.

There is plenty of factual evidence to support a belief that Carson might be dropping out of the race. And a strong case can be made that the electorate should know about such a move ASAP, even if the candidate isn’t the one to inform them.

No matter how much selective outrage Trump and Carson supporters manufacture, in a real adversarial proceeding at which actual evidence is presented and not ignored, Ted Cruz will be exonerated of wrongdoing.

:: There’s no telling how many votes the Cruz campaign illicitly sucked up using this tactic but I can nearly guarantee it’s more than none ::

Well, let’s not get TOO firm on our positions and promises...right?

“They should take Cruz’s and Rubio’s Iowas delegates and give them to Carson.”

Ridiculous! Carson did horribly in the last debate and not so well before that. We here on FR were commenting while it was televised. We couldn’t even believe he was still there. Being soft-spoken, a sweet smile, and bragging about his skills as a surgeon does not make a president.

Do they lie, heck yeah! Did he commit an evil atrocity? No, Did he apologize and was it accepted, yes.

Did the Cruz campaign lie? Yes. Was it intentional? I believe the answer is yes. Did Ted know? I believe the answer is yet. Does that make Ted a hypocrite? Yes.

I don’t see you condemning Rubio with the same fervor. That lie of omission is on the same level as what you are accusing Cruz of.

Rubio is a giant establishment nothing-burger. We all agree on that.

That Cruz portrays himself as a Christian and a man of principles while being deceitful tells us all we need to know about the man.

As he told a staffer, "It isn't lying. It is using words wisely."

He's a fraud and will fail. This will open the door to Rubio.

applaud any dirty trick (like say brithrism) by djt.

So now telling the truth is a dirty trick? Wow

Prior to the 1934 Naturalization Act a women could not confer her citizenship to her child. But it gets worst for Cruz. Until the mid late 1800's a women citizenship was determined by her husband. So in 1790 an American woman that married a Cuban became a Cuban citizen. that is why the 1790s' legislation talks about the father not the mother. Its the father that is conferring citizenship not the mother. So if we are going by original intent had Baby Ted been born in 1790 little Ted was Cuban by blood and Canadian by soil. One more time, going by original intent had Baby Ted would not even be a American citizen.

Now how yall turn that into a natural born American citizen is something just just do not get. The only way one can do that is to claim that the constitution does not say what it plainly says. IE living document.

If congressional legislation makes you citizen you are a naturalize citizen not a natural born citizen. Cruz was make a citizen via the 1934 and follow up legislation.

What’s amazing is many would have thought Trump would be the one pulling crap like that but it wasn’t Trump. It was the “principled” conservative Ted Cruz! Trump is standing on the higher ethical ground. And Ted’s become fatally flawed.

“...Cruz himself...gave the go ahead to spread the lie...”

So you’re saying that Cruz told his volunteers to lie? BS!

If you were running and found out that one of your opponents was leaving Iowa before the caucus, going to Florida, and wasn’t going to New Hampshire or South Carolina, what would you conclude?

Yeah, I know, you’d conclude that Ted Cruz had a secret loan with Goldman Sachs. Your tin hat is leaking.

And take Illinois delegates and give them back to Nixon from Kennedy. What a non-issue. They can be furious all they want. Politics is local and Cruz and Rubio had the apparatus to get that CNN report out quickly to their precincts and take advantage of the information. Carson clearly did not have people on the ground to counter-argue. Rubio and Cruz out performed because they built the infrastructure to do well in Iowa. Trump did not and Carson did not. I fault the later more than Trump, because his whole ballgame was doing well in Iowa and following the Huckabee course of getting into the top three for the spring narrowing. This race was bound to come down to Rubio, Cruz and Trump in no particular order based on the last 90 days. The rest is fluff.

Except the big glaring difference is Trump is not out front invoking “the body of Christ” and having cameras film him every time he prays and acting like a holier-than-thou ‘righteous’ man.

St Cruz is and his followers mention how Christian he is and what a ‘good’ man he is.

That ‘sainted’ Christian is as big a sleaze as anyone.
