The voter rebellion is on! Who should lead: Cruz or Trump? Both?
February 3, 2016 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 02/03/2016 1:57:45 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Q: Why are the voters rebelling?

A: The leftist progressives have been treading on our constitution and our liberty for at least the last 100 years and consequently we've suffered a long train of abuses and usurpations: The income tax (16th amendment), ending state sovereignty/concentrating power at the federal level (the 17th amendment), the Fed, heavy-handed/unconstitutional regulations, socialized retirement, socialized health care, restrictions on religious liberty, legalized abortion, federal mandated homosexual marriage with the heavy hand of the federal government enforcing it over the objections of the states and small business operators, the illegal alien invasion, the subversive Muslim invasion, the last 8 years of lawlessness under a Marxist/Islamofascist usurper, and a totally ineffective Republican opposition party that caves in or actually goes along with much of the above.

The tea party rebellion rose up several years ago to try to fight off the most recent Marxist assaults on our liberty and was quite effective at electing Republican majorities in the House and the Senate and in the majority of the states, but all to no avail.

The professional political elites entrenched within the Republican establishment co-opted our newly elected tea party representatives and or otherwise blunted their efforts and continued allowing the Marxist democrats to have their way over us. Even a rebellion against the Speaker of the House did no good. The new Speaker is as weak as the old Speaker.

And so the situation is ripe for rebellion. And we had a great Christian constitutional conservative tea party leader poised to lead it, Ted Cruz. And we were happy to jump on this young lion's bandwagon and push him through to triumph over the Marxist Democrats.

But the entrenched GOP establishment would have none of it and they (the GOPe and related Super PACS and their allies at FOX News and the cheap labor/open borders lobby) lined up behind the malleable open-borders Jeb Bush whom they could control and amassed a vast 100 million dollar plus warchest with promises of millions more to come. With the help of the "free" press, their anointed one was all but nominated. No way would a first term upstart and senate outcast like Ted Cruz overtake their anointed prince.

But then jumped in an older, long-maned alpha lion who's been around the block a couple times, roaring his way to the top of the hill. Trump's hard-nosed, no-nonsense, non-politically-correct, take no prisoners approach quickly grabbed the attention of the masses of fed-up voters. Trump single handedly slew the establishment's Prince Jeb, the media and the establishment itself and completely rewrote the rules of engagement.

His bold pronouncements that he would build a wall, enforce the law and deport them all was the exact right message at the exact right time and immediately vaulted him to front-runner status. And he added to that that he would end sanctuary cities, end anchor babies and even slap a moratorium on Muslim immigration. Again, exactly what the masses wanted to hear.

Now, many of us feel that these twin invasions (illegal aliens and Muslim infiltrators) were and are existential threats to our national sovereignty and were thrilled to have a mighty warrior like Trump who takes no guff from the media or the establishment to lead the charge.

The media, the establishment and even many so-called conservatives immediately objected with "you can't do that." It's unconstitutional and un-American. It's not who we are as Republicans.

That last one was especially telling. "It's not who we are as Republicans."

Ain't that the truth. And that's our entire problem in a nutshell.

Trump's huge rallies attracted thousands and thousands and his polling numbers soared for months. He was leading in most of the national polls and in most states.

But there was a growing counter-insurgency rumbling beneath the rebellion. Trump's history is strewn with contradictory and potentially fatal landmines. Too many of his past pronouncements and activities were on the NY liberal side and some are too much for Christian constitutional conservatives to bear or forgive. He swears that he's now a pro-life, pro-family Christian, but he has also stated that he's never asked for forgiveness. That's mighty hard for Christians to accept, but who are we to judge what's in a man's heart.

So here we are. The rebellion is roaring. The people are massing. Torches and pitchforks at the ready, but we are divided on who should lead it. And not just divided, we're scratching each others eyes out fighting about it. And as we do, the establishment's second choice (Gang of Eight traitor Rubio) is making inroads.

Personally, I'm all in for the Rebellion no matter who leads it. And I've often stated that Cruz is my favorite because of his constitutional conservative stance, but if Trump wins the nomination I'll enthusiastically support him in the general. Why? Because we cannot possibly allow yet another American-hating communist to follow Obama into the White House to complete the job of totally destroying our free Republic. End of that story. It's a no-brainer and my picture is in the dictionary under that term.

I absolutely love Trump's bold stand against illegal aliens and his call for a moratorium on Muslim immigration and believe it's even stronger than Cruz's past positions. I also love Trump's Reagan-like tax plan. Cruz's flat tax proposal is also interesting. I believe they both want to cut regulations, cut spending, cut government, return education to the states, etc, build a powerful military and fight against terrorism and make America great again.

Cruz is stronger on life and marriage and probably on choosing judges, but Trump says he's a pro-life, pro-family Christian but that's always a gamble anyway. Even Reagan and GWB blew a few judicial nominations.

The important thing here (IMHO) is that we save our nation. I'm not ready to rule out either of these candidates. Cruz is off to a great start and is up by one delegate over Trump and together they're double the GOPe's second choice. But it's a long hard grind ahead.

I say we should let the candidates fight it out and not be so eager to trash either one of our leading candidates. Digging up and publishing dirt and rumors on either is not doing our side any good and is potentially destructive in the long run.

And trashing our fellow FReepers is something that should never be done. This is going to be a long fight and we do not want to lose too many of our friends.

Meanwhile, let the rebellion gain strength. We're all in it together to save our nation. Please save your ammunition and your venom for the true enemy on the left.

Oh, I almost forgot. If you haven't already done so, please get your donation in. We're gonna need it to survive this fight.

Hear yee, Hear yee! Great summation Jim.

Cruz/Trump or Trump/Cruz. I hope they can focus on taking Rubio out and back off hitting each other. Then become a team at the end of the process.

We don't want another Rino and the nation certainly can't afford another communist in the White House. November 8, 2016 is it! We are at war with a domestic enemies, the democrat/communist party. We have to Fight like it's War!

Still concerned about a brokered convention with the tricks and shenanigans. We'll see how it plays out from now until July, but if Trump wins the rest of the primaries and he's tricked out of the nomination. . . Oh, man, then what? Pitchfork time? That could be the spark.

Thanks Jim.

I’d prefer Cruz over Trump as POTUS, because he is clearly the true principled conservative of the two. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’ll do so well outside the Bible Belt - he’s good at preaching to the choir, but I can’t imagine he’ll get any Reagan type crossover. I hope in wrong in which case I’ll gladly support him.

In case I’m right, and in the spirit of FR unity, I would like to make the following defense of Trump: although he didn’t evolve in conservative academia, can’t speak the jargon, and doesn’t evoke conservative principles, he may turn out to be an “accidental conservative”. After all, if you hate incompetence, stupidity, inefficiency, theft, waste and fraud, you probably prefer a limited government. If you hate being taken advantage of, ripped off, told what to do, forced into bad deals, losing wars (trade and other), you’re a conservative in my book, even without citing conservative principles.

In fact, NOT using the conservative jargon may be what earns Trump crossover votes from Liberty loving Democrats who don’t realize they are conservatives.

Either way, I hope the Cruz and Trump factions can let this play out without destroying eachother.

Thank you. That is the quote I was thinking of.

Thanks for the ping. If it's okay, I'm just going to repost something I posted earlier.

Personally, I gave up on the Republican party long ago when they ran Dole against Clinton.

Given all they've become since Reagan left the building, I can't claim membership with them anymore.

Otoh, there aren't any other viable options for voters, so I register as an Independent and usually vote an R ticket.

At this critical time, a "do or die" time, I see US has having a choice between some governors, a bunch of Senators, a successful surgeon, an ex-tech exec who was beaten by Barbara Boxer in her only political run and a successful entrepreneur who has amassed a fortune creating value, most notably by rehabbing and developing real estate.

Of those Senators, one is a Clinton, one is an old socialist, two are anchor babies, one US, one Canadian, and the rest are dropping out.

When I say it is "do or die" for US, it's because I really don't believe we have any more time or options left to avoid the consequences that we, the people, were made to sign for.

Those bills are coming and Trump, on paper, is by far the best bad option we have to survive the first wave of what we've done to ourselves.

I suspect an older Churchill-esque character/leader with a lot of experience is the best bet for what we will face and Trump, on paper, is the only one of those in the race.

Trump's forte, and current challenge, is moving ideas from on paper into reality.

Can he do that now with himself to become President Trump or will "The Donald" self-detonate and then Trump, on paper, burns up, burns out and fades away right before our very eyes?

I really don't know at this point, so I'm merely an observer watching the show while hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.

There is a bigger reality that we are to fit ourselves to, but we keep choosing our own way instead of following the instructions we inherited.

This was a much needed statement by Jim Rob. The vicious attacks on Trump have been so disappointing and often vapid and intentional distortions. This has let me wonder if we are just killing ourselves off and there will be nothing left. The insidious conniving of the ‘establishment” against the real conservatives started long ago after Goldwater but has been exposed as growing cancer in our party beyond a doubt. At the very time that Cruz and Trump should be pulling together, Cruz , now known as “Tricky Teddy” lies to the voters of Iowa and tells them “Carson has dropped out”. This steals the election and distorts the real outcome. Even Karl Rove supports Trumps criticism!! I never thought I would see that.
But in the end we must come together or we will get slaughtered .

I don't just read it here about Cruz being unliked. I'm factoring in how much the libs hate him.

If the polls are right, then I hope I'm wrong. I just don't personally see how he can beat Hillary. If she has to drop out, the game changes. But that's a big if.

The media is already on that drumbeat. I'm sick of having to fight the media. The big people behind the scenes set the agenda. I'm fed up with all of it. It's worse than communism because communists just engaged in brainwashing; you toed the line or else.

What American media is doing is more subtle the way they try to mold peoples' minds to PC. That's what it's about. PC.

Obama this morning has said something about Jesus Christ and loving. He says we don't like Muslims because we fear them. Is that why he doesn't like white Republicans, because he fears them? I don't think so.

What Trump says now and what his history shows he acts on, do not match. Not even close.

I do not find that disparity when looking at Ted Cruz's record. Even in light of the political hash insiders and RINO's have tried to make of it.

Bacon

Looking at both men's, well documented, histories... The only logical course, between Trump or Cruz, for a Constitutional conservative of any stripe is Cruz.

"The reason Trump has that boldness and audacity is because he is beholden to no one. The others, not so much."

Well I want our President to be beholden, with dread, to God. That's the crux of the problem I have with the self worshiping Trump.

You are well aware that I was referring to not being beholden to monied interests here in this world, yet you post the same self-righteous attack on Trump's soul that continues to lower the tone on FR.

God wants everyone to come to Salvation, and He never stops working in the lives of His beloved. That includes Donald Trump, whose path has been entirely different that your own, with different challenges. If you can show me documented proof that God has renounced Mr. Trump and wants no more to do with him, I will concede your point. Until then, you dishonor our great God by suggesting that He does not know nor care about any of those who profess to love Him, no matter how awkwardly and insufficiently. I claim that He has not finished His work in Donald.

The Bible contains several accounts of historically real kings who were not Christian, not Jewish, and who in fact were pagans, but who nevertheless helped God's Chosen People, from whom Jesus Christ was raised. We know their names 2,000 years later because they helped establish His Kingdom. Yet they were not followers of our God: Cyrus, Darius, Ahasuerus and Artaxerxes (click each name to read about how they helped reestablish the Temple at Jerusalem, where Jesus of Nazareth would come to preach and teach.)

Watch out for your own salvation. If I were God, I would not appreciate your trying to tell Him His business. He will anoint whom He chooses for every purpose, even if His purpose here is to send forth a messenger and prophet to clarify the issues, which The Donald has done sooner, better and more incisively than any of the other candidates. For that alone, the American people owe him a great debt of gratitude.

Thank you. I have gotten to the point that the name calling and nasty in-fighting has turned me off of FR. The dems have us doing their work for them. As usual.

I have been leaning toward Trump, but would gladly support Cruz. I wish the two of them would call a truce, meet and figure out what is best for the country and how they can help accomplish it.

I am watching my country go down in flames while folks here are busy making up clever puns and insults. While it may be clever, it is not smart.

Thank you, Jim. I only hope it is not too late for our country to survive the attacks from within. After the implosion, someone’s 2nd wife’s third cousin twice removed words at a 4 year old’s birthday party will not matter.

Stop digging and start building!

Amen. Jim. Trump and Cruz are good men. Freepers should realize that the real enemy is Rubio, who is making inroads as the Chamber of Commerce, GOP-E candidate we all despise.

No change will happen with that Gang-Of-Eight clown, who doesn’t think it’s important enough to show up to do his job.

That’s right. Don’t be complacent and underestimate the GOP-e. When the GOP-e gives away some conservative position and gets nothing in return, we think, wow, they are incompetent or stupid. The reality usually is, the GOP-e wanted to abandon some conservative position (maybe in exchange for some secret deal that will profit someone or maybe they wanted to do what they thought would be popular). The GOP-e is skilled and crafty at getting what they really want - and I think it is evident that they desperately do not want a solid or even moderately solid conservative to be president. They are capable of sneaky, elaborate tricks.

The actual text of the Constitution, the intent of its drafters, logic, common sense, and the previously accepted rules of statutory construction are all now utterly irrelevant.

The Constitution now says whatever the Hell five out of nine Supreme Court Justices currently want it to say. IMHO, this is the primary issue in the election.

Four sitting Supreme Court Justices will be over 80 years old this year (Kennedy, Scalia, Ginsburg and Breyer). Of the remaining five Justices, two are young far left-wing Obama appointees who will be legislating from the bench for the next 30 to 40 years (Sotomayor and Kagan), two are reliable conservatives (Thomas and Alito) and the other is a flipper (Roberts).

I am betting that Obama will get to replace at least one of the octogenarian Justices (Ginsburg) and possibly two (Breyer) before he leave office. Ginsburg will step down immediately after the current Court term and if at least a couple of RINOs join with the Democrats to confirm Obama’s far left-wing replacement then Breyer will announce his retirement so that Obama will get to pick his far left-wing replacement as well. That would leave only two octogenarian Justices (Scalia and Kennedy) for the next President to replace, and four young, reliable far left-wing Justices firmly planted on the Court.

If any three of the four octogenarian Justices are replaced with liberals then a far left-wing oligarchy of Supreme Court Justices will rule over every aspect of our lives for the next generation to come. Say goodbye to the Second Amendment, free speech, and every other right that is currently hanging on by a 5 to 4 thread.

On the other hand, if three of the octogenarians are replaced with strict construction conservatives, then they can join with Thomas and Alito and reverse Roe, homosexual marriage, Obamacare, and every other liberal Supreme Court decree over the past 40 years.

So, our only chance is for the Republicans to hold on to the Senate AND for us to elect a Conservative President who will only nominate Conservative judges. If Chuckie Schumer controls the Senate OR if we elect a President who appoints liberal or moderate judges, then our nations is well and truly screwed.
