RUSH: I have to say one thing, one more thing, one more time. I do not like -- and I've got a Reuters story: "Marco Rubio Emerges Champion of Battered Republican Establishment." Another Reuters story, headline: "Republican Cruz Calls Iowa Win a Victory for Conservative Grassroots." I do not like, speaking for myself, I don't like this idea that Marco Rubio is all of a sudden being labeled as an establishment candidate.
I know that Rubio's got the baggage of that Gang of Eight bill and I know that in many people's minds he's got the baggage of wanting to grant the current number of illegals citizenship. I understand that. But Marco Rubio is no moderate Republican centrist. I could sit here like anybody else could and try to make explanations for you for why he did the Gang of Eight. I'm not even gonna try to put words into his mouth. I don't want to be seen as making excuses. I'm just telling you, I don't see Marco Rubio as anything other than a legitimate, full-throated conservative. Nobody's pure, and nobody is ever free of making mistakes.
I know Senator Rubio. It's like I was telling you last week: I know these people. I know that Senator Rubio in the Senate... In many ways, he agrees with Cruz about things. He's worn out with the Senate. The Senate... I heard this from Allen West when he left the House. I've heard, "The incumbents, that's all they care about is being reelected. You go there to make a difference and you run into brick wall after brick wall after brick wall." I don't think... You know, Rubio, I don't think he wants to stay there 30 years to break through the wall to get a committee chairmanship or whatever.
I just don't like this idea that all of a sudden we're gonna make Rubio the establishment bad guy, as though Rubio is no different than the McCains and the Bob Doles and the Romneys and the others that have come along and been nominated by the establishment. He just isn't. He has not been talked out of his conservatism. He does not abandon it. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody last night. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody. And even the media was dazzled by the fact that he did it without a teleprompter.
They continue to be dazzled by that. (chuckling) Of course, Barack Hussein O can't do anything without a teleprompter. I just don't want to... We had three genuine Reaganites triumph last night, and Rubio did better than a lot of people thought he was gonna do -- and to me, that is very important. It is crucially important for conservatism, for Reaganism, for the future of the Republican Party. I'm just not comfortable here sitting and watching somebody end up maybe being destroyed because of a characterization of being "establishment."
Yeah, the establishment may embrace him because they hate Cruz and they're not gonna embrace Trump, and their real preferences can't get any traction. (That would be Jeb and Kasich and Christie.) So they've gotta go with somebody. But I'm never gonna be one that sees Marco Rubio as the establishment, as we talk about it every day here on this program.

And that is where Rubio schlonged himself.
Roobio is a slick talking, flip flopping, progressive. He is a young John McCain without any battle experience, but better tales. This hyena is Cruz’s biggest threat. Roobio will contribute to the carving of Trump Turkey in New Hampshire, but he will be useless (and dangerous) after that.
Conservatives are better off without Roobio near them.
Rush lives in his ivory tower in S FL where he does not remember mixing in ghettos and or being mugged or robbed.
Rush seems to be for Cruz. He never says anything bad about him. BUT, he's hanging on to Trump and Rubio, just in case. (They're better than all the other candidates running).
He doesn't want to give ANY fodder to the democrats in case Cruz bombs out.
Your opinion and that is OK, I respect that, but right now we are all on about Rubio and Rush being out there for the establishment guy.
Limbaugh is pro-establishment.
I have been listening to Limbaugh since 1988. Every time he gets married, he gets stupid.
good assessment.
Well, maybe it's "Conservatism" that's the problem then, as currently formulated. The Free-trade cult, this obsession with passing trade bills like TPP, open borders, cheap labor, etc., all of these things are utterly fatal to the country. They only benefit big corporations and the elite, but they destroy the country utterly.
We cannot survive any more of this "Conservatism." It must be destroyed.
It has been longer that just lately. I haven’t been able to listen to him for some months. I have Rush 24/7 too.
Sometimes it's the type of mistake that you have to consider.
Rubio's gang of eight membership indicates that he is still unprepared to be the leader. He was snookered by the sly old foxes.
His position on amnesty maybe correct but he has not laid the groundwork for his conclusion. In any case it is too soon to open that can of worms. That also points to his lack of seasoning.
A couple of terms in the senate and maybe a couple as governor of Florida and he will be an attractive candidate.
“When Rush got a thrill up his leg to have a flaming homosexual play at his 3rd wedding”
It was actually his fourth wedding, but it is a little difficult to keep track.
Only time I listen now is if I am in the car.
I never understood why some treat chat shows and others as if their word is gospel and we all have to follow.
Rush - choose wisely. A slick talking progressive pretending to be conservative (Rubio) versus a nasty progressive populist (Trump) versus a Constitutional conservative (Cruz).
Trump is my first choice. Cruz is my second choice. I have reservations about both, but I am excited about both. Either would be great.
I think Rubio made a grave mistake to try to work with Schumer and the others.
However, if Rubio is the nominee I will gladly vote for Rubio over Hillary the liar and her rapist husband.
Whoa...
I can honestly say this is the first time I’ve ever felt really angry at Rush. How COULD he? He KNOWS better.
I’m voting for Cruz, and Trump is still 2nd for me.
But I don’t like the trashing of Rubio that I’m seeing. He is more conservative than Romney, than McCain, than W, than Dole, than GHWB. If nominated he’d be the most conservative presidential candidate I ever voted for. (Not old enough to have voted for Reagan.)
Apparently, illegal immigration doesn’t bother Rush as much as it should. Regardless, illegal aliens are DESTROYING this country and IT IS my #1 issue. I don’t care who it is, any candidate who is for amnesty is just one more amnesty-loving, GOP establishment RINO. And I will NOT vote for that person.
Fairness doctrine in radio must be threatening Limbaugh to say that bunch of poop.
Now today he's for the "sweaty little liar" Rubio. TPP Rubio, Gang of 8 Rubio, ryan's boy Rubio...Has he lost his mind? I stopped listening to mark levin completely. Now it really pains me to dump Rush but Rubio is worse then jeb. Rubio is a phony and a liar. He speaks out both sides of his mouth. He is rino GOPe personified. BAD CALL RUSH!
