RUSH: I have to say one thing, one more thing, one more time. I do not like -- and I've got a Reuters story: "Marco Rubio Emerges Champion of Battered Republican Establishment." Another Reuters story, headline: "Republican Cruz Calls Iowa Win a Victory for Conservative Grassroots." I do not like, speaking for myself, I don't like this idea that Marco Rubio is all of a sudden being labeled as an establishment candidate.
I know that Rubio's got the baggage of that Gang of Eight bill and I know that in many people's minds he's got the baggage of wanting to grant the current number of illegals citizenship. I understand that. But Marco Rubio is no moderate Republican centrist. I could sit here like anybody else could and try to make explanations for you for why he did the Gang of Eight. I'm not even gonna try to put words into his mouth. I don't want to be seen as making excuses. I'm just telling you, I don't see Marco Rubio as anything other than a legitimate, full-throated conservative. Nobody's pure, and nobody is ever free of making mistakes.
I know Senator Rubio. It's like I was telling you last week: I know these people. I know that Senator Rubio in the Senate... In many ways, he agrees with Cruz about things. He's worn out with the Senate. The Senate... I heard this from Allen West when he left the House. I've heard, "The incumbents, that's all they care about is being reelected. You go there to make a difference and you run into brick wall after brick wall after brick wall." I don't think... You know, Rubio, I don't think he wants to stay there 30 years to break through the wall to get a committee chairmanship or whatever.
I just don't like this idea that all of a sudden we're gonna make Rubio the establishment bad guy, as though Rubio is no different than the McCains and the Bob Doles and the Romneys and the others that have come along and been nominated by the establishment. He just isn't. He has not been talked out of his conservatism. He does not abandon it. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody last night. He had the best end-of-the-evening speech of anybody. And even the media was dazzled by the fact that he did it without a teleprompter.
They continue to be dazzled by that. (chuckling) Of course, Barack Hussein O can't do anything without a teleprompter. I just don't want to... We had three genuine Reaganites triumph last night, and Rubio did better than a lot of people thought he was gonna do -- and to me, that is very important. It is crucially important for conservatism, for Reaganism, for the future of the Republican Party. I'm just not comfortable here sitting and watching somebody end up maybe being destroyed because of a characterization of being "establishment."
Yeah, the establishment may embrace him because they hate Cruz and they're not gonna embrace Trump, and their real preferences can't get any traction. (That would be Jeb and Kasich and Christie.) So they've gotta go with somebody. But I'm never gonna be one that sees Marco Rubio as the establishment, as we talk about it every day here on this program.

Bye Bye Limbaugh! I’ll never listen again sellout
Rush losing it?
Rush must be taking drugs if he thinks Rubio is a conservative .
I beg to differ. Rubio s a RINO. An Amnesty Pimp.
Why Rush is saying this is beyond me.
Rush must be on oxycontin again. It’s that, or he’s completely slipped the track and gone over to the dark side.
I agree with Rush. Rubio was wrong on the Gang of 8, but on just about every other issue he’s solid. Including the very unestablishment-like issues such as abortion.
Immigration is not my litmus test anyway, and if I believed in litmus tests it would be the pro-life issue anyway.
Trump supporters just cannot stomach any compliments paid to any candidates other than the donald.
And Darth Limbaugh fully goes over to the Dark Side.
Sad. But not unexpected.
No0t sure, maybe Rush has been talking to the Rubio camp, but one thing is for sure. Rush is not making any sense lately
I mean seriously, Rubio sided with none other than Chuck Schumer to open the floodgates to more illegals. I will not vote for Rubio if he's the nominee.
Rubio has made some mistakes? So have Trump and Cruz.
I have big problems with all three of them, and I haven't made up my mind yet.
But the point is, as Hannity has also been saying for weeks now, I can live with any of the three, as long as Hillary Clinton is not our next president.
When Rush got a thrill up his leg to have a flaming homosexual play at his 3rd wedding, the mask was off and it became easy to see he was just another Establishment phony.
Describing “Amnesty Rubes” as a Reagan Conservative is another ezample Rush is a phony GOP-E scammer.
Now Cruz folks can see that Rush was only propping Cruz up to take Trump out in Iowa. He is part of the GOPe plan along with his buddies at Fox.
Rubio is their guy.
Let me ask you a question.
There has been quite a few on here lately who are getting fed up of snarky, sly comments done by the Trump and Cruz voters. It is not all of them, but a handful of them who just can’t help themselves.
Now do you think your accusation and snide comment helps conservatives or the establishment?
Look up Rubio’s chief of staff. Open borders all the way.
I stopped listening to Rush a few months ago.
Rush is establishment. He’s smart when it comes to marketing but he’s been on the dark side since he started visiting WH, SC, Congress. He’s not part of establishment with all views, the opposite. But he’s all-in for playing the game, has been for a while.
He knows Rubio is establishment.
So long as Clinton or Sanders I agree, however we have to get a nominee and I will not vote for Rubio in the primary at all.
If you support letting hordes of foreigners into your nation that won't assimilate, then there are "no other issues." Look what's happening to Sweden and Germany.
Immigration is not my litmus test anyway
It's not about applying any type of test to it - it is THE defining issue of our time. We've got to secure our borders and overhaul our immigration process, or there won't be an America.
