Supremes set date to decide 'what is sin'

'If this appeal is lost, government becomes head of every religious denomination'

It's a case in which the U.S. government has been accused of claiming the authority to "determine what is in fact a sin."

The critics, meanwhile, have accused the U.S. Supreme Court of tilting the playing field in advance.

But the Little Sisters of the Poor case against the Obamacare law is moving toward a resolution with the U.S. Supreme Court announcing arguments have been scheduled for March 23.

The nuns who run elder care centers worldwide are contesting the Obamacare requirement that their employee insurance plans cover abortion pills.

The Becket Fund, which is working on behalf of the nuns, said the high court will decide whether the Little Sisters of the Poor and other faith-based ministries can be forced to change their health-care plans "to offer drugs that violate their religious beliefs when those same drugs could be made available through healthcare exchanges."

"This slippery slope would subject all religious exercise to the whim of the government's approval," it said.

Which will, of course, subject Pastor's sermon topics to strict government approval.

It seems the "slippery slope" has already been crossed.

An important enough issue you would have thought the Catholic Church would have energetically opposed Obama’s re-election.

Did not hear a peep from them.

Doesn’t surprise me one bit that the Roman Catholic Church and most mainline Protestant Churches didn’t howl about Obama’s re-election.

In fact, IMHO they prefer GUV to GOD.

The Supreme Court is not the final authority on sin.

Supremes set date to decide ‘what is sin’

God already has the answer to what sin is. Look in the Holy Bible.

Though John Roberts will surely decide that sin is a tax.

Well, they decided in the 50s and 60s that killing babies is a Right from God and that theft of private propery (welfare system) is a “Good” and that males mutilating their bodies are “Good” and that Males sodomizing others is “good”... That is dictating Good and Evil and ejecting Christianity from the minds of our children (culture).

And they have been “teaching” (programming) our children with those irrational, unnatural concepts for 50 years. Situational Ethics (antithetical to Objective Truth (Constitution)) was started fervently in 1970 in ALL public schools——forcing a pagan religion (faith) and Satanism (a religion) on our children as they banned ONLY Christianity. Materialism (religion), Humanism (religion), Mother Earth Worship (religion) ALL allowed in the classroom as they were allowed only to marginalize the Bible and Christianity——the concepts that led to the Age of Reason and Modern Science and the US Constitution and our “Justice” (virtue) System.

Funny how children embed the ideas and religions they are taught in the public skools /sarc.

It’s unprecedented. If passed it’s also a violation of the 1st Amendment’s free speech clause.

Well, if not a tax, at least a punishable crime.

SCOTUS has no “standing” to be able to define sin.

LOL unless punishable by stoning the sacrifice would definitely have been defined that way. When Jesus rules the world, those nations that don’t bring their tythe don’t get rain. It will no longer be a world where it rains on the just and the unjust. :)

It seems the "slippery slope" has already been crossed.

It has. We need someone like Donald Trump to put the brakes on.

"Congress shall make no law respecting (with respect to, regarding) an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"

This clearly violates the "free exercise" clause.

The US government has zero business dictating anything having to do with religion.

And that includes any moral issue -- such as "gay"marriage.

AND, that definitely includes ISLAM, and specifically forbids any accommodation to Sharia "law".
