Donald Trump announced Friday he raised $6 million for veterans at his fundraiser in Iowa the night before.
But this would appear a significant increase from what he's given to the cause before, according to some reports which questioned whether the billionaire businessman has been a consistent donor to vet groups.
Showbiz 411 reports that the Donald J. Trump Foundation gave a total of $2.6 million in charitable donations in the last three years, but only a fraction has gone to veterans groups. In 2012, Trump gave nothing, in 2013 he gave $6,000 and in 2014 he gave $16,000, according to the report.
The Weekly Standard reports that the foundation donated $57,000 to veterans groups between 2009 and 2013, only a small amount of the $5.5 million it gave in total during that period of time.

"These reports are not accurate. Mr. Trump has made substantial personal contributions to a number of Veterans organizations as well as in-kind donations," Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks** told FoxNews.com Friday.

The Weekly Standard reports that Trump's foundation, meanwhile, gave at least $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation.

Sure, he gave $1 million twenty years ago. And another million thirty years ago. When I compare the typical American’s net worth to his net worth, it is the equivalent to giving $25.
And when did it become OK to talk about something he did or said more than 12 months ago?
You aren’t nearly as cute as you claim to be.
DAV has been helping vets for decades and is the most respected vet organization in America. Anyone who criticizes that is a POS scumbag.
Anyone want to argue that with me?
He has given more money to democrats than veterans over the years.
Liberal and progressive democrats.
What a piece of garbage you are. You know nothing about the vets and Trump.
All this bickering is nonsense.
The CruzRubioCarsonPaulBushFioriniKasichHuckabeeChristie candidate is dead. It’s Trump or Clinton. You decide.
Collecting everyone else’s money, throwing in a pittance (compared to his overall net worth .. $1 mill is a lot for most of us, but just a ham sandwich to someone worth multiple billions), then accepting all the accolades.
“Candidates give what they can, and for most people who are not billionaires, living expenses are a day-to-day concern.”
Gag me with a spoon.
Trump bankrolled the Vietnam Veterans memorial in Manhattan in the 80s.
Who? The POS scumbags criticizing the donations, or those who are identifying the donations?
Oh, the Jim Jones’ type of follower? Got it. It’s really sad that this country is in such bad shape that we have to look to imperfect men to rescue us; when it was imperfect men who got us into this mess. It’s all so crazy.
“He has given more money to democrats than veterans over the years.”
More than $6m?
A long way to go to the nomination and election.
Quit jumping on the "now popular" bandwagon.
I wonder how much you people criticizing him gave?
And now for some serious, hard-hitting, professional analysis from Megyn...
Wow! Donald Trump is really evil: he’s now giving more money to the vets than he used to. I suppose everyone would be giving Trump kudos if he gave LESS money, hey?
Gosh, and surprise, surprise: FOX NEWS NETWORK is trying to spin Trump’s 6 million vet fund-raising as a BAD thing. You don’t suppose FNC is still P.O.ed that their second debate ratings were only half of their first debate because Trump skipped their second debate, do you? Wow, talk about your classic case of sour grapes.
Oh and one more bad thing I heard about Trump: when he was in first grade he pulled the pigtails of a playmate on the playground one time. Until I heard that, I was going to vote for Trump, but after I heard about the pigtail incident, I decided to switch my vote to Sanders.
