Today I was shown a piece of literature from the Cruz for President campaign that misrepresents the role of my office, and worse, misrepresents Iowa election law. Accusing citizens of Iowa of a "voting violation" based on Iowa Caucus participation, or lack thereof, is false representation of an official act. There is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting. Any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and I believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses.
Additionally, the Iowa Secretary of Stateâs Office never "grades" voters. Nor does the Secretary of State maintain records related to Iowa Caucus participation. Caucuses are organized and directed by the state political parties, not the Secretary of State, nor local elections officials. Also, the Iowa Secretary of State does not "distribute" voter records. They are available for purchase for political purposes only, under Iowa Code." - Paul D. Pate, Iowa Secretary of State

Miss Janet if you’re nasty. Lol
Poor judgement, poor judgement. Forget about his Canadian background. The problem with Cruz is he makes bad decisions. |
there is a difference between “distributing” and “selling”
“selling” is one form of distributing, but there are many other different ways to distribute something besides selling it.
SecState is simply clarifying exactly what it is his office does and does not do with respect to voter registration lists.
That aside, I want to know who thought this was a great thing to do to Iowa Republicans?
They don't strike me as the sort who would want their personal business outed to their neighbors.
As someone pointed out on another thread, it's probably not illegal, but neither is going through the neighbor's trash after he takes it to the curb. But, for sure it's bound to piss them off.
Nobody in the LSM is on this: because there’s something wrong and nobody likes issuing retractions or apologies. Cruz didn’t know of or approve this, if I’m wrong I’ll start a thread for all the razzing FReepers can throw at me.
You had an excellent point. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vineager.
Yea the Alaska one seems pretty similar...
Maybe he is more Churchian than he is Christian.
The not so good side of our mixed scene we call Christendom.
God would consider this a more serious problem than Trump’s next to no belief, I think. The last thing we need today is a bad advertisement for the gospel.
Cruz’s campaign manager Rick is a tone deaf moron!
‘I keep thinking this is a dirty trick by Rubio or Right to Rise. ‘
The return address on the envelopes was the official Cruz campaign headquarters. Rubio or R to R would be committing serious mail fraud if they did that!
You can see the flyer and envelope here;

As catnipman out so well:
âThe problem is if he knew about it, then his judgement is bad; if he didnââ¬â¢t know about it, then he is unable to manage his own campaign, which throws doubt on his ability to manage the United States government.â
“Rumor has it that Cruz is still unaware of the mailing.”
NO way in Hell. That mailer costs big bucks to do. That level of expense wasn’t outside his prevue. No way.
I think of you when I use my fav skillet! It is a piece of art, LOL!
So everybody does it is the defense?
I thought Ted was different.
I don't doubt that whoever signed on for this mailing was swayed by the winning ways of the mailer based upon past performance. Despite what might seem a better approach, they tested their way into the mailer being plastered all over social media now. Drilling down further would have highlighted the fact that most who have used this were Democrats, and a thinking person would have realized that conservatives might not cotton to the perceived invasiveness of such a thing. Is this mailer "good?" Depends upon your perspective. I don't particularly like it and don't believe I'd be motivated to do what those who purchased the mailing had hoped. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Database mailings can be a double-edged sword, especially if the audience is not as receptive as assumed.
Dumb move to copy McConnell. I believe Obama’s campaign also did a lot of personal data mining and targeting of individuals. Ugly business.
If Cruz didn’t know it, it looks like he cannot be a hands on manager.
Shame? When is trump going to show shame over real evil he’s done?
Does anyone care if trump opened strip clubs, had affairs with married women while married, married three times, nude pictures of his wife posing nude....ok with with forcing people off their property using eminent domain, 4 bankruptcies.....and this is only part of what we know now. You know the dems will dig up more dirt. It’s ok with you to have someone worse than Bill Clinton in office? If you’re ok with a man like this, God help you on judgement day. When your daughters, granddaughters, nieces ldecide stripping is no big deal remember, neither do you.
Obama didn’t know until he read about it in the paper. Just how much does Cruz not know? Too much to be believed at this point.
