The personalized letters target individual Iowa voters and identifies them as having failed to vote in prior elections. They are admonished and then encouraged to vote this year. In addition the letters identify the neighbors of the voter, and provides their voting history.
The text reads:
"You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area. Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors' are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday's caucuses".
In an effort to shame the recipient, the notice also informs the targeted voter their neighbors have also been notified of the recipients poor voting record.

Agree.
Indefensible.
IRS has nothing on this TedTactic :-/
Cruz may be capable of losing my respect, but it doesn’t make me like Donald Trump more. I concede the possibility that they are both jerks.
Ted Cruz. Smart lawyer. Dumb campaigner.
This makes Cruz look like a worm and a rat.
I mean, damn, I cannot believe this!
I may not be a Cruz voter in the primaries, but I REALLY hope that this is a dirty trick and that he didn’t actually think that this was a good idea. I still want to like the man.
Nice!!!
So even with Cruz doing this all by himself it’s still Trump’s fault.
Boy...what a winner you picked.
Give it up. Everyone reading things your opinion is desperate and dumb. Ratting out your voter status to your neighbors is not cool.
It would really pissed me off to have my name highlighted like this in public. Seriously.
Sorry, Charlie, but people should be ashamed if theyâre not voting.

There are many things that are of public record that your neighbor prefers not be broadcast to the neighborhood such as your voting record or a Notice of Default on your mortgage.
Perfectly legal to let the neighbors know but not unseemly nonetheless.
If you read the article, even Rick Wilson, who is a notorious dirty campaigner stated that “these kind of mailers are fraught with risk,” said Republican media strategist Rick Wilson, who has done some work for a Rubio Super PAC. “They do work, but the social pressure stuff has got to be subtle. This, on the other hand, is like a sledgehammer.”
Ted Cruz could use some assistance with his “image”; his campaign manager and friends did not serve Ted well in this instance.
I would suspect that Robert Mercer, who owns Cambridge Analytica is behind some of this creepy crap; he is known as a technology geek with no emotional intelligence. The downside of being backed by Single Donor Super Pac’s who think they know best, is on display. Ted is at the mercy of “the money”. That is what this looks like to me.
I, personally, do not want Ted Cruz destroyed, no matter who I vote for in the primary. For Mercer, Ted is just a tool to get his tax problems solved. What a scoundrel!
Should have been a Thank You for Participating Trophy.

Tuesday 9 February 2016 *New Hampshire Primary1
Saturday 20 February 2016 *Nevada Non-binding Precinct
So he gives a 19 year old the authority to create and mail out flyers on his behalf? Wow, Ted really is the most brilliant human on the face of the earth.
I have donated to Cruz three times. Was inundated with calls and emails. It seems like in the last few weeks he’s gotten really bad, desperate advice. I have been Trump/Cruz for awhile now and VP is the most I’d consider Cruz for now,
That would not motivate me to vote for him. That would motivate me to vote against him.
If it was his intention to get out the vote, he should have used the mailer to ask the person to please consider coming out to vote for him. He should have tried to empathize with their problems getting to the poll. It’s too cold, interrupts family time, he knows they are too worn out from work, whatever. Play it up but encourage them by saying Cruz wants to undo all Obama has done and he needs their help. Send it to the specific individual without including information on the neighbors. Give them a real reason to feel a part of the Cruz team and get out and vote.
What the Cruz campaign did makes no sense. I don’t know who is advising him, but they are either brain dead or intentionally trying to ruin his campaign.
The right to vote also includes the right not to vote. I support both.
I like it even if I don’t understand it... “:^)
I would have gone to the news media, told them your story, and showed them that outrageous letter from the morons at the power company.
Turn the tables and shame THEM.....in public.
And yet, It was Cruz that did this not Trump. We are seeing evidence of Teds Unstable's on display. Truly delusional. They have to result to the old LIBERAL tactic of deflection.
I'm laughing over here, but wow.
