Many broadcast hours and column inches are sure to be used today and tomorrow regarding the decision by Donald Trump to skip the Fox News debate in Iowa.
Predicatively 90% of those reports will most likely circle around a Donald Trump -vs- Megyn Kelly narrative. Obviously that aspect will be the preferred hook used by Fox News to avoid sunlight; it is also profoundly wrong.
Megyn Kelly, and her sidekick Chris Stirewalt are the visible symptom, not the actual underlying issue. Their partnered 'too-cute-by-half schtick' has been ongoing for several months, including the coordinated antics at the last debate, and in the weeks leading up to the last debate; but again, they are the symptom - not the real issue.
However, it's also more than a little hypocritical for the same republican voices who were shouting at republican nominees in 2011/2012, for walking into traps with CNN's Candy Crowley and ABC's George Stephanopolous, to now be clutching their pearls when 2016 republican frontrunner Donald Trump recognizes the construct in Fox News and avoids it.
Chris Stirewalt is the advance guy, the Fox political debate contractor/producer who is in Iowa setting up the parameters. He's the scout organizing the Muslim activist to confront Donald Trump. He's the guy organizing the Mexican immigrant to question/antagonize the intended target, Trump. Stirewalt puts the agenda script together - Ms. Kelly, Mr. Wallace and Mr. Baier execute the production.

This is excellent. Thank you for posting!!!!!!
This was not a scheduled debate. This was put together at the last minute to embarrass Trump plain and simple.
This article exposes the truth. Will be interesting to see if Rush picks up on it....
I doubt he will.
I agree with you....
I think we are seeing the truth about the media...I mean it started months ago. Trump is the smartest man in the room not Cruz.
Kelly Megyn is not the best suited for that slot. There are other lesser knowns who could do that tome slot better.
I think, if truth be known, others at Fox dislike her tactics also.
Bret Bair, last night, was like the kid who just found out that Santa Claus isn’t real....He was really taken back. I felt kinda bad for him...but let’s face it... he’s very naïve....very naïve...
Every time a debate Moderator asked a loaded question Trump turned it on them in all the other debates. That is a big reason why he is in the lead now.
Ted Cruz came to his defense on at least one occasion (maybe more because I don’t watch these things).
By ducking out of the debate, it would seem that Trump is giving up a YUGE opportunity to take it to the MSM. By backing out, it would seem that he is afraid to face his opponents head on.
No, I think he is avoiding a set up.
Give me a good explanation for Fox bringing in a muslim who has compared him to hitler, a Mexican who says he’s a racist, and a tweet from Fox HQ that slams him.
Sounds like a set-up to me on the eve of the Iowa caucus.
So, why attend?
Of course Rush will spend time on this... I’ll be listening. Herman Cain is talking about it on his radio show this morning. He’s a Trump supporter. He’s also a fair man.
The kid had been shot and he was dying.
FR not respecting the huge Tony Perkins endorsement of Cruz, they dont want it on the front page, not given the same respect that the Falwell for Trump was given.
The Iowa debate was on the list when the GOP announced the “ officially sanctioned debates”
Last minute?
Not if you consider January 2015 last minute
2015. NOT 2016
When things become twisted and headed in a direction one would not want to go.. it’s time to pull out and leave them to their own destruction.
These ‘debates’ have not been debates... none of them have been. This generation doesn’t have years ago debates to gauge today’s against. John Kennedy won his election from those debates. He was a good example how you play the media. Today’s media is so twisted, it’s hard to participate in their mess. Most of the questions they ask are way out in left field.
“Google and Fox announced Tuesday afternoon that an anti-Trump Muslim advocate, Nabela Noor, would be allowed to play a role in the debate. She was apparently chosen by Youtube, with help from the RNC and Fox. African American, Mark Watson, and Latino, Dulce Candy will also join the moderators in the debate to ask the candidates a question on an issue that matters to them and their communities.”

Trump did the right thing to avoid the Fox ambush set-up.
A good example of why Iowa means little in the grand scheme of things
Pot meet kettle. Libbylu, who trashes everyone on this board who doesn't agree with her or Canadian Ted. Too funny.
IMO, and what most people overlook, is that Fox, and especially Megan, made the debates NOT about the candidates, no about the issues, not about We the People but THEM.
Who do they think they are? Celebs? Royalty? They are gloried carnival barkers.
And, the author is spot on RE: ‘clutching of pearls’. ‘Bout damn time SOMEONE stood up for themselves. I, for one, don’t miss being spoon-fed that which THEY deem to be ‘important’, opinions as facts, how to think/feel.
And, Cruz may not be electable. What choice do we have, in reality?
Careful painting with such a broad brush. I am a Cruz supporter on this forum.
You’re right. I should’ve used the adjective ‘some’.
I get attacked so often that it’s hard to remember there are decent Cruz supporters. (and I was one at one time)
I apologize. I misspoke.
Media has an agenda? Why would you ever think that?
I cannot think of a single statement by a journalist that shows more gall than this. If you can Maggie, I'd like to see it.
