Many broadcast hours and column inches are sure to be used today and tomorrow regarding the decision by Donald Trump to skip the Fox News debate in Iowa.
Predicatively 90% of those reports will most likely circle around a Donald Trump -vs- Megyn Kelly narrative. Obviously that aspect will be the preferred hook used by Fox News to avoid sunlight; it is also profoundly wrong.
Megyn Kelly, and her sidekick Chris Stirewalt are the visible symptom, not the actual underlying issue. Their partnered 'too-cute-by-half schtick' has been ongoing for several months, including the coordinated antics at the last debate, and in the weeks leading up to the last debate; but again, they are the symptom - not the real issue.
However, it's also more than a little hypocritical for the same republican voices who were shouting at republican nominees in 2011/2012, for walking into traps with CNN's Candy Crowley and ABC's George Stephanopolous, to now be clutching their pearls when 2016 republican frontrunner Donald Trump recognizes the construct in Fox News and avoids it.
Chris Stirewalt is the advance guy, the Fox political debate contractor/producer who is in Iowa setting up the parameters. He's the scout organizing the Muslim activist to confront Donald Trump. He's the guy organizing the Mexican immigrant to question/antagonize the intended target, Trump. Stirewalt puts the agenda script together - Ms. Kelly, Mr. Wallace and Mr. Baier execute the production.

Absolutely. I quit sundance long ago.
DT has no core principles or values. He has no character. Grown people do not trash everyone who disagrees with them. Only DT.
“I donât understand why she hates Trump so much!!”
The brass ring for a political take down artist is the political take down.
It immortalizes you in the profession.
There are no journalists anymore, just agenda driven political hit men posing as journalists.
Think I’m wrong? Ask any of them if they know the journalism code of ethics and can demonstrate any of it in their work.

“Not in Iowa. They tend to punish candidates that skip a debate”
Yeah, ok.
Trumps move is brilliant. Putting distance between himself and Fox, will be an indisputable counter to the democrats hanging the Fox label around every republican.
Oh no, don’t you know, “true conservatives” now LOVE them!
“Whooped em’ again, didn’t we Josie.....”
As a (very) independent here in Arizona, I have no voice in the nominee selection process, I am enjoying the biting and oh so sophisticated comments by the candidates supporters.
Many of them remind me of my youth;
“Your mother wears combat boots”
That one never made sense to me back then, but after reading some of the barbs printed here. I think I now understand.
Good article.
When I mentioned Trump could do the same thing to Fox that Obama has I meant avoiding that network completely. I think the only time Obama had anything to do with Fox was 1 interview (or was it 2?) with Bill O’ Reilly during halftime of the Super Bowl one year a few years ago. By Trump giving Fox News the finger for the next 8 years, it will tell the sheep that think Fox is “conservative” that maybe they have been duped, and by then maybe people will see the light and see that Fox is trash just like CNN, NBC, MSNBC etc. just that Fox “pretends” to be fair and balanced and that is actually more evil than the others that are at least honest with their hate of conservatives.
He he he ! Hear that little bell? Ka Ching!
Everytime FOX news bashes Trump, another Trump supporter gets his wings

Bingo!
Iowa also tends to punish candidates who skip the state campaign stops and caucus meetings and try to buy their votes with TV Ads
“He handled the Soviets and Iran , OK”
Reagan walked away from a talk with the Soviets.
And then won.
Sometimes not playing the game is the best option.
And distinguishing himself among the candidates, as well. The others submit to the unfair and misleading questions, and do a good job of swatting them down. Trump says he doesn't have the patience for that, there are more important things to attend to.
“Not in Iowa. They tend to punish candidates that skip a debate.”
When has it ever happened?
LOL. I mean seriously ROTFL!
That does kinda look like Trumpy without his wig!!!!
Good One.
“Mr. Trump? Mr. Murdoch for you on line one.”
“Grown people do not trash everyone who disagrees with them. “
Cruz supporters on this forum do.
Me thinks you are a hypocrite!
Trump has dominated Fox news this morning - he is in control - how’s that going FOX NEWS?
