Trump's campaign manager: 'Megyn Kelly is totally obsessed with Mr. Trump' (+ Cruz challenge)
Politico ^ | 1/27/16 | Nick Gass

Donald Trump's campaign manager gave no ground on Wednesday morning after a Fox News statement singled him out, suggesting that he threatened the network with "terrorizations" of debate co-moderator Megyn Kelly.

-snip-

Asked about Ted Cruz's call for a one-on-one debate before Monday's caucuses in Iowa, Lewandowski said the Texas senator's campaign was not the only one to reach out asking if they could participate in the Trump campaign's event for wounded warriors and veterans on Thursday night in Des Moines.

"Well, look, he's not the only one. We've had calls from many debates, from many of the candidates now, to say look, why would we participate in the Fox debate as well? I think what you're finding out, once again, you have the candidates reacting to the only true leader in this race, which is Donald Trump," Lewandowski claimed. "He leads, and all of a sudden everyone realizes that, hey, maybe it's not the best idea to be involved in these debates, maybe we should leave as well. So I had a number of calls yesterday with some of the other campaigns who said hey, can we come and join you in raising money for the Wounded Warriors and the veterans, because, you know, Fox isn't going to be fair to you, what makes them think they're going to be fair to us?"

As for whether more could bolt the Thursday night debate, Lewandowski demurred.

"Well, it's very possible," he said. "Obviously, they have to do what they think is best for their campaign, but they reached out to us proactively so they could be part of our debate, our event, which we're going to do on Thursday night in Des Moines, and so we'll see what happens."

“When MK opened with her woman question, Trump was not ready to nip that nonsense in the bud. It took Cruz to get up in her face on behalf of all the candidates.”

Nope, Trump was the first to say the question was unfair.

And Trump refuses to be treated that way again. Cruz just talks, but doesn’t change anything, and continues to be part of the dysfunction. Just like his Senate career.

Nobody promised to attend the debates. I suppose you think Reagan should’ve stayed in the talks with Soviets the time he walked, thereby letting them win.

I admit my premise about reneging could be wrong. The Reagan thing seems apples and oranges. Existential threats versus hurt feelings.

If Fox were smart, they would offer to let Trump submit the questions that he was allowed to be asked.

“So many are encouraging Custer to ignore everything, just go to the Little Big Horn.”

Perfect analogy, xzins.

I might ‘borrow’ that when Cruz supporters are being hypocrites and backing the liberal media today.

they're really just glorified dog and pony shows.

I completely agree!

I'd be happy to have one primary debate and one Presidential debate. I've never been a fan, especially in this day and age with social media so prevalent. We just don't need any of the biased media "guiding" our opinions.

Fox jumped the campaign shark on this. Good on the Donald for having the big brass ones and telling them to go stick it. Can you think of another candidate who would have done that?

And then we find out about their planned ambush with some smarmy panty bunched muslim youtube questioner. Cuz in person would get their sensitive outraged flabby ass kicked.

These debates are Dem traps. Moderators have been totally biased for years. After 2012 they mentioned not having debates altogether. Some are calling Trump a wimp. They don’t realize how tough he is. MK has already shown complete bias and is hell bent on trapping Trump. Trump is doing the right thing. Why would he attend a debate that is set up to hurt him? Does anyone have any idea why the Dems don’t want Hillary in front of the people? She is hiding and waiting for something to break positive. BO is another one hiding. They have nothing to gain by going public. Otherwise he would be questioning the Treason by Hillary.

I just realized you got the debates mixed up. The MK question was the first debate, while Cruz’s taking on the media was in another network at the 3rd debate, I think. He did do an excellent job of it.

A leader knows when to not walk into an ambush. If or when they attack Cruz the same way, you’d agree perhaps.

“So many are encouraging Custer to ignore everything, just go to the Little Big Horn.”

Use it as often as you like, CB.

Trump appearing at that debate would be stupid and he didn't do it. Good for him.

We have so many debates in the past in which we've pleaded with republicans not to attend....and with the party not to set them up in the first place. But they did anyway, and we get the Candy Crowley fiascos to show for it.

Incidentally, didn't the RNC itself cancel a debate this year because they thought the performance of the moderators was awful?

Finally, a candidate does just what we've asked, and those who have in the past shouted at the stupidity of attending are among those attacking the man who finally stood up and did the right thing.

THis sounds like a fabrication of the Trump campaign I understood that Cruz would like the 1 on 1 in ADDITION to, not in lieu of the Thursday debate.

Only on her part.

His wife is younger, hotter, tighter (and more feminine) than Megyn.

Megyn is acting like a woman driven to distraction as it sinks in that the man she wants and fantasizes over, is never going to sleep with her.

I'm looking for her to be caught slashing his tires next. /sarc>

THe difference between Trump and Cruz, when confronted by code Pink he invites them on stage and eviscerates them with ideas/ Trumps shouts over them and makes silly faces.

When invited into a hostile situation Cruz sits down with Katie Couric and answers loaded questions for an hour. Trump whines like a child running to mommy.

“Ronald Reagan refused to participate in the 1980 Iowa Republican debate, saying he thought it was wrong for Republicans to attack each other.”

That’s very interesting information. Maybe someone with a bully pulpit, e.g., Trump, will see that it gets “out there”. Maybe someone who tweets (I don’t) can spread the word.

One on one debate with Cruz. Go fly a kite.

The best debater doesn’t mean the best president.

Yeah. You keep telling yourself that.

Megyn had on *Michael Moore* last night; and they were inviting a young Muslim "activist" from *YouTube* to ambush Trump.

Muslim. Activist. After Paris and San Bernardino.

Meanwhile, Trump is raising money for wounded American veterans.

And the Dems are pushing a woman who abandoned Americans at Benghazi, and who deliberately ordered, or allowed, special compartmented access information (literally *above* Top Secret) on an illegal, unsecured, private server.

Smells like a *lot* of people have their own little blue dresses smeared with Saudi oil money.

I loved that interaction with the reporter. Then Trump basically schooled him in how journalists should be prepared with all the information.

Evidently Ronald Reagan did it two weeks before Iowa! So Trump is in good company.

I suppose you think Reagan should’ve stayed in the talks with Soviets the time he walked, thereby letting them win.

Reagan didn't refuse to talk with the Soviets. He stayed in the talks and it resulted in a win for the US.

He didn't walk out on the talks - he attended the scheduled meetings and stayed until their scheduled finish. He simply didn't cave during the meetings. He had the courage of his convictions and the confidence to stand up for them face to face with his adversary.

That's the difference between Reagan and Trump. Reagan didn't wuss out. Cruz has more in common with Reagan.

First opinion Megyn solicited after the last debate was from the DNC Chairman, er, Chairwoman.

The press has to be taken down, and Fox forgot how it got where it is now.

Why is it that women always make it about their private parts? Funnier still that they accuse men of doing the very thing they are most wont to do.

Where’s Thatcher and Meir when women so desperately need them as role models?

Huckabee has been the most supportive of Trump.
Ben said Trump should appear, but wasn’t taunting like Cruz. I think this is going to hurt Cruz.

That press release issued by Fox was ridiculous. Trump really had no choice, but to back out.

Net net trump will lose no support. Previous detractors are in orgasm mode and supporters are loving him telling Fox to shove it. Fence sitters who hate the msm may like the stand trump is taking.
