Donald Trump's campaign manager gave no ground on Wednesday morning after a Fox News statement singled him out, suggesting that he threatened the network with "terrorizations" of debate co-moderator Megyn Kelly.
-snip-
Asked about Ted Cruz's call for a one-on-one debate before Monday's caucuses in Iowa, Lewandowski said the Texas senator's campaign was not the only one to reach out asking if they could participate in the Trump campaign's event for wounded warriors and veterans on Thursday night in Des Moines.
"Well, look, he's not the only one. We've had calls from many debates, from many of the candidates now, to say look, why would we participate in the Fox debate as well? I think what you're finding out, once again, you have the candidates reacting to the only true leader in this race, which is Donald Trump," Lewandowski claimed. "He leads, and all of a sudden everyone realizes that, hey, maybe it's not the best idea to be involved in these debates, maybe we should leave as well. So I had a number of calls yesterday with some of the other campaigns who said hey, can we come and join you in raising money for the Wounded Warriors and the veterans, because, you know, Fox isn't going to be fair to you, what makes them think they're going to be fair to us?"
As for whether more could bolt the Thursday night debate, Lewandowski demurred.
"Well, it's very possible," he said. "Obviously, they have to do what they think is best for their campaign, but they reached out to us proactively so they could be part of our debate, our event, which we're going to do on Thursday night in Des Moines, and so we'll see what happens."

I don’t think so. One on One was in addition to not in place of.
Spin Spin Spin by Trump campaign manager.
OUTSTANDING article from Scott Adams
Rand Paul was a no show at the last debate, was he afraid too?
Why no name calling about him?
Be consistent.
Yes, and I think Cruz could be hurt more because every candidate will go after him at debate. He could come out unscathed, but he will probably be hurt by it more than Trump.
These ME types have turned whining into an art form.
That wasn't the question. The question was whether Trump would be willing to go head-to-head in a debate with just Ted Cruz. And the answer is "not in a million years."
No one missed him.
With high risk comes high reward. This is a great opportunity for Cruz, and I agree with you, him being THE target on stage creates some risk. Trial by fire, that's the point of the debates.

Yes, these are not debates, but reverse press conferences with a hit of “Let’s you and him fight.”
Sounds more like Trump is OBSESSED with Megyn Kelly. Go suck your thumb, Donnie, and cry in the corner.
I have to hand it to him, he does know how to suck all the oxygen out of the room. Nobody will be talking about ANYTHING but Donald Trump until sometime next week. He's in their loop.
As long as you abide in your mindset...that it's merely about "hurt feelings," you will continue to experience losing. At least it's familiar and comfortable.

Trump won’t do it, because there is nothing in it for him.
Cruz was a college debate team guy. He debates well.
The Presidency isn’t about debating, it’s about execution.
Trump is a master at execution.
One aspect of being an executive is to know when to cut off the jaw-jaw, because it serves no positive purpose or wastes time.
There have already been a lot of debates. Everybody already knows the differences between Trump and Cruz. Trump will win in Iowa, and that will be the end of Cruz, so why go debate Cruz in a one-on-one format, where Cruz will look great, because he’s been a debate team guy all his life?
No reason to.
The big “Republican Debate” was sort of an obligatory thing, but then Fox decided to load it up with “get Trump” stuff, including Megan Kelly. Megan Kelly was out of line in the first debate. There is no reason at all that Trump should put up with her again.
There is no advantage to Donald in going in there to get attacked by Kelly who has already made it clear she hates him, and who will control the questions and microphone. So he wisely decided “Nope”, and that’s that.
Huckabee has been the most supportive of Trump.
Ben said Trump should appear, but wasn’t taunting like Cruz. I think this is going to hurt Cruz.
That press release issued by Fox was ridiculous. Trump really had no choice, but to back out.
Yep, Trump has taken on greater criticism by skipping the debate than if he had been submissive and attended.
