"The ad is very misleading. In fact, it outright lies about a widow's home being bulldozed," Pierson tells Breitbart News in an exclusive interview. "When you look at the facts, there is a process in place for eminent domain which was followed in this instance. Ms. Coking ended up keeping her property for years, because Mr. Trump didn't purchase it, and it ended up saving him a fortune," Pierson adds. In 2014, 16 years after the court battle ended and several years after Coking moved to California, her grandson sold the house at auction for $530,000, far less than Trump was willing to pay her in the 1990s. Depends on how dire the situation is in a town or city. If the town is going bankrupt, and a casino could rescue it, then for the benefit of all residents, economic development is preferable to bankruptcy and loss of all jobs in the town. Good examples of this are the casino’s in north-west. When paper mills shuttered in small towns, the casino’s saved the towns.
My caveat is that the property owner must be compensated in the 135-150% range of market value. No one should be screwed out of their private property.
That’s a different story;

We have much bigger problems in the country than Kelo decision.
No Wall on the southern border, Illegals and drugs pouring in.
95 million adults unemployed.
$505,000,000,000 yearly trade deficit with China alone!
Vast hard working Middle class wages deteriorating.
Cost of Healthcare becoming unaffordable.
Middle-east in total chaos.
Iran paid $150 Billion with borrowed money from China.
$21,000,000,000,000 national debt when Obama leaves office.
Good or bad, Kelo is like 0.00000000001% of our problem.
Success comes to those who set proper priorities.
Failure comes to those who are hung up on a small skin pimple , while massive cancer tumors are growing inside.
There is no way around the fact the summary in Ted’s tweet is a lie. Why lie like that??
Why move the goal posts away from the lie in Ted’s tweet?? Why throw red herrings on it?
No amount of goal post moving or red herring throwing will alter the fact the statement in Ted’s tweet is a lie.
“Trump showing weakness?”
Ted lies in a tweet, Katrina points out the lie, “Trump showing weakness?”
There seems to be a logical disconnect happening.
Goal posts must be moved if you can’t kick straight?
So good, work to change the law. I’m not against a very limited application. Don’t let you anger blind you in the mean time.
LOL that is a good one! Ignoring the lie sure isn’t kicking straight.
Your words read better after I looked upthread to what you were responding. There’s the warm frog. You hopped out.
Ain’t it the truth!
I am. I’m posting to campaign for a candidate that reveres the Constitution and knows the Supreme Court well enough to fix it. Over a candidate I’ll accept loves the country, but who doesn’t seem to understand how it was designed to work. Give Trump the contract to build Ted’s wall and collect that Mexican financing. He’ll do a great job on that. Then give him a job closer to his home, UN Ambassador. He’d drive our enemies crazy. He understands them. Promote him to President and you’ll just re-prove the Peter Principle.
Good, you should vote your beliefs. I know I’ll be voting mine.
My apologies, I was thinking of the Kelo house in New Hampshire.
Trump couldn’t even beat a housewife from Jersey!
Ha!
How is is going to beat ISIS?
I hear what you’re saying, I just don’t know if I agree.
All are important, no doubt.
My position is that private property rights are FUNDAMENTAL to a truly free nation. Much of what we call America was based on that—regardless of race, religion, or creed.
In fact, many of the very problems YOU cite are, in a very real sense, a violation of private property rights as well as statutory law.
So I think that a SCOTUS ruling that says government can violate that right and give away your private (real estate) property to another private entity is heinous.
Kelo is more than a pimple, it is letting the camel’s nose or neck or head or whole body into the tent.
