Here we go again. Donald Trump will speak Sunday, January 24, 2016 in Muscatine, IA at Muscatine High School at 12:00 PM CST. I will post additional Live Feeds.
Mr. Trump will be attending church services this morning at New Hope Christian Church in Marshall Town, IA. I think it would be over the top for the media to be filming this.
Mr. Trump will do TV shows via phone today as well:
CBSâ âFace the Nationâ: Trump will call into the show to gauge his chances in the Iowa caucus, with Sanders speaking afterwards.
NBCâs âMeet the Pressâ: Clinton rounds out the day with an appearance on the program, followed by Sanders, Trump and former Defense secretary Robert Gates.
Muscatine is one of the prettier cities on the Mississippi River.
It's been said that NO OTHER town or city in the United States is named Muscatine.
HON office furniture is headquartered here, but it's claim to fame in the cultural history of things is Scot Halpin.
For ten points, does anyone know who Scot Halpin was? (Answer is below).

“Is that your site? The quotes from the debate give me a stomach ache, My goodness, Trump must win - the pain of going back to that is just too much to bear.”
Yes, Ma’am,twice.
I know. This was the first time I noticed this. All these years, I bet you people posted a lot rude comments about my postings. Good thing I didn’t know it. lol
As promised, I went to the Muscatine Rally. Here is my on-site report :) Though I would have liked to provide real-time reporting, my phone battery was dwindling—It’s Iowa—can you hear me now? No :(
We got up at 4:00 a.m. and left a little before 6. Stopped at a local gas station/coffee shop prior to getting to the rally, and locals were discussing the rally, the law enforcement presence, etc. All positive talk. We arrived at the venue at 9. Saw C-Span, NBC, and CNN satellite trucks outside. Decent temperatures and ample parking :)
We had a very nice time waiting in line for a little over an hour chatting with Iowans about the Caucus process, state of the Union, etc. It was one of the smaller rallies, which in addition to clear weather and close proximity, is why we chose to attend this particular rally.
Locals informed me that yes, Mr. Trump was in church in Muscatine prior to attending. With the exception of the one upper bleacher section under renovation, pretty much every seat in the twin upper bleacher sections running the length of the basketball court were filled, and the basketball court floor area was filled with those willing to stand.
Word to anyone attending future rallies: People were told they must have ticket to get in...and to return any items to car that one would not bring on an airplane...sharp objects, pepper spray, etc. With a smaller rally like Muscatine, could easily return to car to discard any controversial items (key chain knives & tools, pepper spray, etc.) that could be used as a weapon—however, in a large venue, that might be problematic...
Mr. Trump was on time and looked great—rested and energized. Trump gave a great speech—talked for over an hour with no notes or teleprompter. Perhaps because it was a smaller intimate venue, Mr. Trump just seemed very warm and connected well to the crowd.
He made some interesting comments regarding Eminent Domain—i.e., the idea that all conservatives had supported the Keystone Pipeline, which would require use of Eminent Domain. Therefore, conservatives should be in favor of Eminent Domain if they are supporting the Pipeline. However that said, some Republicans have been criticizing his “conservative creds” since he supports the use of Eminent Domain....the positions don’t line up...and the attack ads are deceiving.
He did stick around for quite a while to chat with supporters and sign posters. Crowd loved him.
Took one of my kids with me—told them if Trump is President, this is the closest that they (and likely any of their friends) will ever be to a President. We got within 15 feet :) I told them that they will be talking about this rally in years to come. Just the whole atmosphere—watching and talking with Trump campaign staff and actual secret service personnel, watching crowd go nuts, etc. was something most don’t get to do.
I have to say, Iowan’s are spoiled LOL—they get to visit with practically every candidate! That said, they really do seem to take their first place position in the political primary season very seriously. Again, Trump pledged to keep Iowa first place in the primary process.
I truly enjoyed being with many like-minded folks—some were on border between Trump and Cruz, but all seemed to want to Make America Great Again ;) Although it seemed most of the attendees were supporting Trump, there were still undecideds...and even though they had not yet chosen their candidate, they applauded much of Trump’s speech! Their passion and applause seemed to increase as Trump continued.
IF Trump is in your area, I highly recommend you make the effort to see him in person! Just a very special time :)
That was great...
43% of Trump followers HAVE NEVER VOTED IN A CAUCUS BEFORE...will they come out for them?
Is it a complicated process to vote?

Is it a complicated process to vote...Good question.
Confession—I was an interloper at the rally~I traveled 3 hours from my home in Illinois ;). So I am not an Iowa voter tho my ties to Iowa run deep with various family...son graduated from Iowa State, my daughter-in-law’s family has farm in IA, my parents were from IA and went to Iowa State.
Iowa Freepers can correct me if they wish, but this is my take from talking to people and some additional information from Iowa Farm Bureau**.
**Who can participate?
To participate in an Iowa Republican or Iowa Democratic caucus, an individual must be registered to vote and be a registered member of the partyâs caucus they are attending. The individual must also be 18 years old by the date of the next general election, which in this case is Tuesday, November 8, 2016. That means it is possible for 17 year-olds to participate at their local caucus as long as they will be 18 years old by November 8, 2016. He or she must also reside in the precinct that they are caucusing in. âNo Partyâ registrants, or people who are not registered with either the Democratic or Republican Parties, will have to change their registration to one party or the other in order to caucus.
From my conversations at the rally:
It is not a vote in the traditional sense—no paper and pencils...
The caucus is a meeting of eligible voters/caucusers at their local precinct’s appointed location. It seems caucusers in a given precinct will meet in a large room, and there are various locations for each candidate within the room ex. caucusers for Trump, are instructed to go to right corner, caucusers for Cruz, go to left corner, etc. The people physically move to the area where their preferred candidate’s group is located. People can and do move between candidate areas. After all folks have found their final location, a count is made, and the numbers are turned in to the state organization.
ETL is still with us.
But why does it take several hours...and can you be late?
What a great report! Thanks for taking the time.
Great after report Happy that you and yours were able to attend. It’s a very special memory
Good
Yes, still here.
Thanks all. :)
But why does it take several hours...and can you be late?
I had contacted the Iowa Trump campaign office to get an idea of how early I would need to get to venue to be guaranteed entry—didn’t want to drive 3 hours only to be turned away.
It was suggested to me that if I got there by 9:00, I would likely be early enough to get in. There were at least a couple hundred folks ahead of me by time I got there—shortly after 9.
So I waited an hour outside, then went through security—very fast, and found seating, and then waited till he started, which was noon. I chatted with folks, during that time—Iowans are very friendly :)
I think Muscatine was the smallest venue he has done (with the exception of the morning rally at the John Wayne Museum). The Muscatine venue was so easy to attend with no line of cars, & lots of parking.
If attending one of the larger rallies with 12,000-15,000, I would imagine you would want to be there a couple hours prior to doors open to guarantee entry.
At Muscatine, I don’t believe the doors closed at the start of the rally. I believe that people were coming in late—I don’t think anyone was turned away—again, this is a small town really not near a large metro area, so people were walking to rally from their homes, coming after church, etc. At a large rally, coming in late, you might risk being turned away due to crowd size. But
If anyone is thinking of attending, I would suggest a call to the state or national campaign office for more information.
Also, anyone attending needs to have gotten a ticket to gain admission. Tickets are free and on his website, but it was stressed at Muscatine, needed ticket for entry.
I feel like I “lucked out” logistically at this rally—good weather, easy drive, easy parking, relatively short lines, comfortable seating and temperature in venue, etc. But IMHO it would have been worth the trouble to go to a larger one, had this one not been on the schedule :)
