The crowd laughed and clapped, and someone in the audience shouted out love for the candidate.
"We love you, too, man," Trump said.
Trump's comment came during a campaign rally Saturday at Dordt College in northwest Iowa. The 1,500-seat theater completely filled, hundreds more watched his speech from an overflow room.

The thing that makes it even funnier is that the audience and Trump fans elsewhere know the liberal media is going to fall for it every time. The media never catches on that they're the brunt of the joke.
And in the meantime, the only candidate talked about on the news is Trump. Nobody pays attention to anyone else.

Cruz supporters didn’t have an orgy of hate. You lie. I am originally from New York, and I knew exactly what Cruz meant by New York values: support for abortion, big government, the nanny state, etc.

Well it’s a joke that is also probably true and he’s essentially laughing at his supporters and their gullibility as to how much he’s gotten away with. He can openly attack conservatives and what they stand for on the campaign trail and doesn’t lose support. He can praise single payer healthcare and doesn’t lose support. He can propose “universal healthcare” “the government’s gonna pay for it!” and doesn’t lose support. He can support Kelo v. Connecticut and eminent domain abuse and doesn’t lose support. He can adopt the talking points of Cindy Sheehan / the Jersey Girls / Jamie Gorelick / Michael Moore on the war on terror and not lose support. He can join the liberal media attack on Justice Scalia and not lose support. He can praise Planned Parenthood because they do so many “good things” and not lose support. He can get into a spending war during a debate with another candidate and not lose support. He can say the solution to student loan debt is more government programs not lose support.
The joke is on us. A substantial amount of the GOP doesn’t care about substance - they care about entertainment above all else.
It is Trump telling his believers are a brainwashed cult. They will call it a joke or attack Cruz to deflect it but will not realize the insult that liberal conman has given them.
