Donald Trump said Tuesday that federal regulators should increase the amount of ethanol blended into the nationâs gasoline supply.
Speaking at an event hosted by the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, Trump, a real estate mogul and the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, said the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ought to follow the ethanol volumes Congress set in 2007.
âThe EPA should ensure that biofuel ... blend levels match the statutory level set by Congress under the [renewable fuel standard],â Trump said. The mandate is popular in Iowa, which hosts the nation's first caucuses.

>> Pandering to the moonshine lobby is just too much.
Big disappointment to me.
There's that "conservative" Donald Trump selling out America; again!!! How can any conservative support this?
I think he knows how damaged she is and wouldn’t have her as VP. She’s been media damaged goods for quite sometime and when that was occurring it was truly no fault of her own. It was the biased despicable media along with McLame that took her down. But since then that’s where her and I parted ways. She too became a reality show train wreck endorsing the who’s who and then the coup de gras drives a knife deep in the back of Cruz. Especially at a time when conservatism is on the precipice of irrelavency. Just like her.
She like others don’t endorse anyone until they firmly are ahead. It then makes it appear their endorsement mattered. It’s an ego thing. Instead of doing what’s right, support the person you have for so long that is the true conservative (the hard thing to do because he is down) she turned to the populist, American idol of presidential election method by backing a fully avowed liberal.
Conservatism has joined the age of the dinosaurs. Guess we need to face that reality now.
Butanol, unlike ethanol, can be run as a direct substitute for gasoline. It is hydrophobic meaning it does not absorb water out of the atmosphere like ethanol. BTU content is close to gasoline and it burns with fewer deposits and byproducts than gasoline. Further, it does not NEED to be made from our food sources. It can be made from a number of waste products such as corn husks, grass clippings, etc.
That is why I said Ethanol bad, Butanol good.
Now as to subsidies, I did not make a comment.
Trump is like a horny college Freshman, “Sure, I love you.” The he fu$ks the girl and never calls back.
This might backfire on Trump. May help in Iowa, but it will really hurt in the South and other states.
>> Conservatism has joined the age of the dinosaurs. Guess we need to face that reality now.
IF conservatism is true and righteous, then it will prevail.
(If it’s not, it doesn’t *deserve* to prevail.)
I believe in my heart that conservatism IS true and righteous.
Prepare for a revival of conservatism, informed by the teachings of Jesus Christ.
It’s always darkest before the dawn. Take heart; don’t give up.
But you’re a Marine; I am not telling you anything you don’t already know.
FRegards and Blessings
>> This might backfire on Trump.
I think it will bring out the best in Ted Cruz, personally.
The Trumpophiles are noticeable absent on this thread. What happened?
What more do they need to hear? No conservative would push for E-85 gas. Trump will do and say anything to win, and “F” his voters the first chance he gets.
Of the worst kind.
Maybe you should reconsider your support of Trump. If you feel let down by this, it's only the beginning.
Trump wants you to pay higher taxes in order to pay more for gas that gets worse gas mileage and ruins your engine because HE WANTS TO WIN IOWA and he will say or do anything to do that.
Hey Big Government Freepers. Trump is your man.
If ethanol were good for your engine, everyone would use it without the force of law.
This. I am not going to bother reading all the responses because I am sure most of them agree - ethanol is horrible policy. I have not been on the Trump bandwagon although he says some things I like, but this is pandering of the worst sort that puts politics ahead of common sense. I am very disappointed in Trump for this. Guess he needed the votes in Iowa, but this tells me his “common sense business approach to government” is a lie. He might be an outsider, but this shows him to be another politician.
It floors me that we still have mandated ethanol use in this country - the studies are clear - ethanol SUCKS.
Wait until Iowa is over and he’ll change his mind.
Trump can keep his ethanol promise and not increase the content in gasoline if he allows the drinking age to be lowered to 15.
Thanks for the lift
Thank you for your service to this beloved country!
This MAY even help Cruz win Iowa. The only people who like the ethanol mandate in Iowa are those people and companies that benefit from it. Trump advocating E-85 gas is a non-started for a large majority of Iowans, and even more people in every other state.
Trump has jumped the shark on this one.
>> This MAY even help Cruz win Iowa.
Your lips to GOD’s ear!
