President Obama is pledging a "new national effort" to find a cure for cancer in his final State of the Union address on Tuesday.
"For the loved ones we've all lost, for the family we can still save, let’s make America the country that cures cancer once and for all," Obama wrote in his joint address to Congress, according to remarks released by the White House.
Obama said the efforts are inspired by — and will be led by — Vice President Biden, who has launched a high-profile push to end cancer after losing his oldest son last year.
"Last year, Vice President Biden said that with a new moonshot, America can cure cancer," Obama said Tuesday. "Tonight, I'm announcing a new national effort to get it done."
Just hours earlier Tuesday, a group of biotech companies, drugmakers, doctors and researchers formally announced a coalition called the Cancer MoonShot 2020 — a reference to Biden's speech in the Rose Garden last October when he promised a "moon shot" to end cancer.
1) It took Obama over 7 years to notice that cancer is a problem?
2) Obama will now decree that no doctor can make a diagnosis of cancer, or treat anyone for cancer, the NIH cannot keep statistics about cancer, and the news media shall not report cancer as a cause of illness or death. Viola, cancer cured, the Obama way — just like he ended Islamic terrorism.
Why would a eugenics loving Progressive want to cure cancer when there is a ton of money to be made masking the symptoms?

Well, either you misunderstood me or I poorly communicated. It was probably me.
One of Huckabee’s big campaign themes has been that he is going to cure cancer. He is not removing funding at all. I assumed he would have to increase it.
I think Obama has been listening to Grace Slick’s White Rabbit a little too much. “One pill makes you larger, & another makes you small, and the one Dr. Jill can give you don’t do anything at all, Go Ask Biden, I think he knows!”
Seriously. This guy is the biggest ahole ever to step into politics.

Curing the “Democratic Party” cancer on America?
because we’ve been screwing off for the past 200+ years.....
For me, I do not think it is the job of the federal government to pick any disease to cure. I think communicable diseases and security threats related to those sorts of issues are an issue for the federal government. Cancer is not the same. Where it may be related to exposure from this or that, especially related to the military then okay. But the private sector and the donations of citizens are the places to turn for cures for your pictured children.
That’s how I see it. Otherwise, what about people with other health problems. Why should some health problems get special attention? Then why should some groups get special attention. On and on....better to leave the government out.

I agree, but I don't think that was the point Huckabee seemed to me making. It seemed pretty clear that he was advocating that there were more important things in this world than curing cancer, not that it was a job better handled by the private sector.

I want them to find out how to extract sunbeams out of cucumbers.
Then perhaps you should have quoted him in full context, because he never made that point in what you provided.
He said the cure for cancer and some other things would cut down on healthcare cost.
This was all during one of the debates.
He also said he will cure AIDS.
For his, Michael and Reggie’s sake . . . he’d better. But I kind of hope he doesn’t.

I’ve been saying for months VP Biden’s non-announcement sounded a lot like an announcement. Review the speech if you have the stomach. Add the presence of the President, and the rose garden location, and you can see why I think it looked fishy.
Last week, just before the FBI is ready to recommend charges against HRC story broke, and before the corruption investigation expansion ref the CGI broke, and before 2 new polls hit showing HRC behind in both IA and NH, a story landed about VPJB ‘regretting’ his decision not to run.
On cue the left has talking heads lamenting his decision and wishing he’d charged ahead. Beau would have wanted it, etc.
Now this week VPJB is propped up by POTUS as some sort of revolutionary visionary while announcing this moon shot...
All signs still point to a VPJB convention white horse arrival without either a. the expense or b. the competitive exposure of a primary dog fight with the woman or the socialist. He doesn’t have to look like ‘another old white guy’ bullying the girl, and he doesn’t have to go on record being as (or more) give away happy as Bernie.
Add his pro Bernie comments this weekend and a pattern begins to develop.

I guess so. My original point was that Obama stole that from Huckabee. So I didn’t think I needed to quote anything.
Honestly it does not matter. Huckabee is going nowhere, and now that he has decided to be an attacker, he is tanking even further. Anyway, I don’t have the transcript of the debate. I was going from memory.
