For me, I do not think it is the job of the federal government to pick any disease to cure. I think communicable diseases and security threats related to those sorts of issues are an issue for the federal government. Cancer is not the same. Where it may be related to exposure from this or that, especially related to the military then okay. But the private sector and the donations of citizens are the places to turn for cures for your pictured children.

That’s how I see it. Otherwise, what about people with other health problems. Why should some health problems get special attention? Then why should some groups get special attention. On and on....better to leave the government out.

I agree, but I don't think that was the point Huckabee seemed to me making. It seemed pretty clear that he was advocating that there were more important things in this world than curing cancer, not that it was a job better handled by the private sector.
