Donald Trump says that Ted Cruz has flip-flopped on the ethanol mandate, formerly wanting it abolished immediately and now wanting it abolished after a five-year phase-out. This is hardly a major change of position, but Trump is right that Cruz changed his position on ethanol in 2014 from totally ending the mandate to a gradual phase-out.
But 2014 was so long ago that in 2014, Donald Trump was a liberal Democrat. If Donald Trump wants to catalog flip-flops, he should start with these:
1) Trump has said that the economy "does better under the Democrats than Republicans."
2) He has said that Nancy Pelosi "is the best."
3) He has said that he is "totally pro-choice." Now he claims to be pro-life.
4) Trump has said, "I'm very liberal when it comes to health care. I believe in universal health care. ... We need a single-payer plan." Now he claims he will replace Obamacare with something "wonderful," without saying what it is.
5) He called self-deportation of illegal aliens "mean-spirited," but now he claims to want to deport them forcibly.

But not to worry. Rush assures us... Since Rush has played a few rounds of golf with the guy, Rush knows the Donald. So sleep easy says Rush, because Rush can now attest to the fact that Donald is no liberal today.
In my view Trump is neither a liberal or a conservative. He's a Donald (and most times a Richard - or Dick for short). Trump is about Trump and whatever enhances his popularity, fame, and - what I used to think, but no longer do - his brand. It's not about business sense. It's just pathological.
Another hard question to answer - what will the Donald actually do if he wins the White House? No one in their right mind could possibly answer that based on the evidence we have. Do you trust what he says today, two days ago, two weeks ago, two months ago, or two years ago? Donald could turn out to be the most "fabulous" president ever, or he could as easily turn out to be a unmitigated disaster. The odds are about the same either way. The question then becomes... Is going with the Donald worth the risk? My vote says no.
and the will to examine a problem, find a solution and get the job done.
You Cruz, you lose.
Trump/Cruz vs Uncle Joe/Fauxahontas next November.
i’m not concerned with him being a terrible president.
I am concerned with him being another FDR.
doing something great, like deport the illegals, but be progressive (a terrifying word) on many other things.
It’s hard for billaionaires to really relate to middle class workers and I see too many treat us with disdain while doling out to the lazy or “underprivileged”, like that jerk on the private jet going to his private island while saying “Americans have to learn to do with less”.
I forget his name but he was with his wife and two spoiled brat kids.
I have a feeling that wont be Trump though He seems to value the integrity of a hard earned buck.
but I can envision universal healthcare under him. Just my opinion.
but he’d be fifty steps above Hillary and ninety above the insane pervert hippy freak
Donald Trump pointing fingers at anyone for “flip-flopping” would be like Bill Clinton accusing someone of marital infidelity.
Mr.Trump is orange your orginial skin color?
I posed two questions in my post. Try answering those...
1) unfortunately probably not untrue thanks to GOPe crony capitalists
2) the best what? the best moron possibly.
3) he has seen the light.
4) getting rid of obamacare is good. fixing system is good as well (e.g. remove state barriers, limit lawsuit payouts, allow people to keep health care plan when leaving job - or decouple from job completely)
5) mean-spirited does not mean to avoid it. compassionate and law abiding.
The Donald is popular in great part due to his not doing what other republican candidates do in response to being busted on flip flopping or some minor flaw, infraction or change of mind. Trump refuses to try to appear to be perfect before continuing to campaign
They have had enough of ‘Brave Sir Robin’ and are moving on to the also popular, Harry Callaghan.
Unfortunately for you the polls contradict that statement.
We already pay for it. We just don't get it.
The author is a tool. By the authors reasoning, Reagan was a flip-flopper too.
Definition of Political Flip-Flop: a sudden real or apparent change of policy or opinion by a public official.
Candidate A had been for Issue A but had changed his stance years ago and is no longer for Issue A Candidate A has consistently been against Issue A during the campaign.
Candidate B prior to his campaign has been against Issue A. During the campaign, Candidate B has stated remarks that both are both supportive and against Issue A.
You tell me which is flip-flopping.
I look forward to the day the democrats become the target of who we fight. Until that day comes I have to ride out this Trump vs Cruz crap.
It is confounding to people who either cannot sense this, or don’t consider this and it’s what makes all of it as simple as one of his positions, changed or not:
Trump loves America.
If confusion reigns while you deliberate just how a Trump White House might turn out, consider this...
Cruz rises in the poles and leads in Iowa. The Donald sees this and decides to go on the attack. What is the Donald’s first instinct? To attack Cruz from the position of the Left or the RINO establishment. Rush and his minion shows scold and warn the Donald not to go there again. The Donald temporarily complies - but not for long. The Donald is once again attacking from the Left. This time on ethanol. Is it that the Donald can’t help himself - being that this is his true nature? Or is it that lacking any core convictions or principles, it doesn’t really matter just as long as it works?
At least he doesn’t need their money.
as long as there are tiers where you can get better coverage for more money, I can live with that. that is how capitalism works. Even with health insurance.
But I confess to not understanding that market NEARLY enough to know hat is best for the country.
just know it wasn't a right under the constitution and states should have more say. It is said that a lot can be told about how a country treats its elderly. in the old days, my grandparents and lots of other Italian ones lived with the kids, usually in the same house the kids grew up in, in Brooklyn. I have Asian acquaintances that still do that, though its beginning to change. hard to weigh compassion against the constitution and the free market and figure out an answer. private charity used to be a good answer.
Quite frankly I’e never had a real problem with “flip flopping”. If it’s just politically expedient then, well, you’re a liar.
However, if you change your mind because you’ve got better facts then you’re smart.
Too many morons have been lauded with the phrase “he sticks by his guns”. Maybe so, but that might make him a fool.
