There's something the chattering classes along the Acela Corridor don't want to say about Donald Trump: He's the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination.
For the Republican Party's conservative - in more ways than one - establishment, it's as if admitting that will make it come true. So instead, they squabble over who the "real front-runner is, whether it's Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz. Perhaps, the parlor wisdom holds, a dark horse like Chris Christie can overtake the field at the New Hampshire turn.
For the first few months, the Trump deniers - loud on national television, insistent on Twitter and ever-present in the nation's leading print and digital outlets - could be called wishful thinkers. With the primaries just around the corner, as many otherwise smart political analysts keep waiting, aching, for conventional order to be restored, it's time to call them what they are: delusional.
Trump is leading national polls by more than 20 points in a field with more than a dozen candidates.
He's sitting on a double-digit lead in New Hampshire, holds a 20-point edge in South Carolina and runs 27 points ahead of his nearest competitor in Georgia. Though he's probably going to lose Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucus to Cruz, who's leading in the polls there, Trump could finish a strong second.
He's first or near it in Nevada, Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Missouri and Ohio. He's in the lead in nearly every state that has been polled. All those leads have held up after a dozen predicted collapses.
To anyone looking honestly at the hard numbers, Trump's lead in the Republican primary looks a lot like Hillary Clinton's in the Democratic primary. And no one is debating who will "really win" on the Democratic side.

Hillary will not become POTUS if Trump is the nominee. He will won in a landslide.
These polls all showing Trump losing to Hillary are cr*p. Do NOT believe them.

The GOP is run by people that don’t want to win.
He’s not just the GOP favorite. Look at his record. He’s the liberal and “brainless middle” favorite as well.
I am NO fan of Trump for president, but if he gets the nomination he’ll be our next president.

True, but she does well only because the debate moderators never press her on her vague, canned answers. It's always something like:
Moderator: Sec. Clinton, why do you take so much money from the big banks?
Hillary: We all need to work together to help the middle class. Banks need to realize that as well.
Moderator: And now are next question goes to Sen. Sanders...
If Hillary gets the nomination, we'll see the exact same thing in the presidential debates.
I think Cruz would skewer Hillary better than Trump, but both could carve her into a human slinky before all was said and done.
Trump is the GOPee’s ideal candidate. One who can reach out for the middle.
What I’m hearing from college students is that Bernie is pretty darn awesome. Many of the Bernie fans actively dislike Hillary. She seems more old (and old-fashioned) then Bernie.
My takeaway: the getout-the-vote effort for the Dems is going to be harder if Hillary is the nominee.
And, yes, if Trump is the nominee I see the potential for a really epic landslide.

Look up on Google: Alien and Sedition Acts. We need to dig these up and dust them off. They would give us good mental health once again.
You would want Trump over Hillary safe to say. It Cruz could win it all that would be primo. Trump is the one with the crowds and crossover votes. Reagan was so great but even he had his flaws. Trump is no hardcore leftist—thats for sure.
I understand your fear, but there are too many unknowns to reliably say what or who is the most likely path to defeating democrats.
I have as little confidence in non Trump candidates as you have in Trump. We shall see.
Although Cruz is closer to my thinking Im voting for the big mouth, POS NYCer. Like my neighbor sez, Trump’s a SOB but he is our SOB. And in reality he will be able to accomplish more due to his overwhelming personality. Cruz, although a solid guy, wont be able to get much done.
I think Hillary is the favorite to win in almost any circumstance. What could weaken her chanced are an economic downturn (probably on schedule), or more Islamic terrorist attacks here in the country.
Trump can potentially appeal to many voters across many demographics with his “America First” posture. He has my vote. But Hillary has many built in advantages and strengths and really should be the favorite to win in 2016.

Most democrats don’t like her and will probably stay home if she is their nominee.
Until trump rips into her over bengazi.What will she say regarding that? He will mock her with “what difference does it make?”.That will bring the house down.Remember a no name senator from Illinois took her out before.I don’t think she is all that and a bag of chips.
If you think there will be actual debates, as opposed to the reality TV shows we call "Presidential debates", you're dreaming.
Ending the farce of these "debates" is critically important.
When it comes to the general election we will see Trump work with the energy of a well fed horse. He will work to form new coalitions and even more crossover voters. God give him strength, favor and protection in the quest.
Trump might talk to Cruz....but I think Cruz has one simple agenda if he isn’t the Presidential pick....Attorney General. He’ll do the job for three to four years, and when a Supreme Court job comes up...he’ll ask for the position and go where he will serve twenty-five years as a Supreme Court judge. In some aspects...he’ll do more in that job than as President.
I suspect the VP will be Scott Walker or Susanna Martinez (NM-Gov-Rep). The only two who won’t be hired under Trump will be Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina. I also think that Doc Carson will be brought in for some post.
Cruz is solid and I would vote for him without hesitation, but I find his approach too cerebral. He sells conservative philosophy, and I think it’s better to sell benefits rather than features.
Selling features and expecting the electorate to figure out the benefits is not a winner in my book. And neither is Cruz, I’m afraid. I see him losing in a 400 electoral vote landslide.
But maybe things will be so bad that any Republican can win. Wait and see.
