WASHINGTON - An off-duty United States Secret Service officer was killed Tuesday in a shooting in southwest D.C.
Police say USSS Uniformed Division Officer Arthur Baldwin was shot and killed around 2:45 p.m. in the 4700 block of 1st Street.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear at this time.
Baldwin was charged with first-degree attempted burglary and destruction of property in an incident from April of this year. Following the incident, Baldwin was put on leave and his security clearance suspended.
In a statement, USSS says:
"Secret Service is aware of the information. We express condolences to the family of our employee. Any inquiries regarding the investigation should be directed to Metropolitan Police Department."
SS must have taken lessons from Obama in expressing sympathy...
Drugs or romance issues would be my guess.
Perhaps he was caught in another burglary?
It sounds like it could have been a domestic issue that started his troubles. And that the, “Dead men tell no tales” ended his troubles in this World.
Bingo.
Where else but the Obamanation could a felon remain on the government payroll?
MY take is: the burglary was a "Chicago Plumber" job that went south, he couldn't stay loyal to the regime, so another Plumber was assigned to stop the leak.
The uniformed division of the SS is nothing like the regular agents who protect VIPs and investigate financial crimes.
They protect facilities and have no investigative function.
Why am I not... surprised?
Baldwinâs criminal case in D.C. Superior Court remained open â and a hearing in the case was held hours before Baldwinâs death, according to court records. A non-jury trial was scheduled to begin in February.
Baldwin is assigned to the Foreign Missions Branch, according to U.S. Secret Service Spokesman Brian Leary. That branch is responsible for working with the diplomatic community in Washington.

Hmmmm...
One article does say this involved a woman who says she was an ex.
Drug deal gone awry?
So since he never had a trial, I guess his widow gets his full pension.
Based solely on what was reported I found the whole thing to be suspect, but as per usual I will restrain from commenting further until I hear the rest of story.
“Baldwin was charged with first-degree attempted burglary and destruction of property in an incident from April of this year”
Unbelievable this piece of trash in the once elite secret service.
Despite the SS Executive Protection Detail public problems, they remain more highly trained then the uniformed Secret Service officers, who are basically cops and doormen.
