That’s not a hit.
Ruh-roh! Is Scalia still holding a gavel? If so, the honorable justice is very important to freedom such as gun rights, property rights, and the federal balance of power.
I would guess the context was regarding ‘affirmative action’, but Trump might have the power to destroy Scalia over some silly misunderstanding.
Like, whoa !
Trump, if you start pandering, you lose the one thing which makes you different from the rest (other than Cruz). Scalia didn’t say anything offensive or untruthful.
Ohhh. I wish Trump would show some in-depth understanding of things every once in a while. Scalia was using devils-advocacy and referring to well-researched phenomenon.
This is where we see he isnât conservative.
Scalia was essentially paraphrasing Thomas Sowell’s well-researched and apt argument.
I hope Trump misinterpreted what Scalia was trying to say.
The research has been done by Dr. Thomas Sowell, among others. Black students are consistently placed in academic programs above their level of preparation, with the result that their graduation rate is far lower than that of students admitted to the same programs without race preference.
The real-world experiment has also been done. When California’s state universities eliminated racial preference, the graduation rate of blacks and Hispanics increased throughout the system, because they were admitted to campuses for which they were academically prepared. (I believe their overall percentage in the state university system also increased, but wouldn’t swear to it.)
This doesn't mean no blacks can qualify and thrive at top rate institutions, it simply means that you are doing them no favors by admitting them only because they are black knowing that they will wash out. Where if they had gone to a more appropriate institution they could have done well.
Another unforced error from the Donald....these may start catching up to him.
Somebody is playing the fool in this dust up, and it ain’t Scalia.
In related news, this just in:
“Black, Latino students speak up about problems in Boston schools

âWhat I am about to show you will make you mad,â Tung said. According to Tungâs report, just 22.1 percent of black males and 24.9 percent of Latino males in Boston scored proficient or higher on the English MCAS exams in elementary school, compared with 56.9 percent for white males and 48.5 percent for Asian males in the city.”
If you jump off the Trump bandwagon now, you can do it without anyone noticing. Wait to long and you will be complicit in his nomination.
Both men are correct.
Trump said that it was a rough statement. And it was. Scalia stated the realities of how many black young people fare in college. It would have been helpful if BOTH of them had mentioned that the public schools, which evidently are immune from change, have put these young people in this sinking boat.
You can take Trump out of the Democrat Party, but you can’t take the Democrat out of Trump.
Justice Scalia is largely correct.
I have a large number of Black students in the classes I teach at a local community college; and it is clear that, for whatever reason, the majority of them are not even prepared for that level of instruction.
The idea of attending lectures, staying current with reading assignments (let alone purchasing the textbook), writing using proper grammar and punctuation, and turning in their work on time is completely foreign to many of them.
But, then again, I’m probably looking at it from my “White Privilege” perspective.
I think Donald may have misinterpreted Scalia (or I did). I thought Scalia pretty much said it didn’t make sense to push them into more rigorous regimens by virtue of their skin color because some folks would perform better (be better served) in less rigorous environments.
Trump imploding.
It’s the truth, the ones given a boost into USC often have had to drop out and then they are drop outs instead of State College graduates.
Same for the unprepared white ones on a sports scholarship.
Pardon me, Donald. How can you object to what Justice Scalia said if it is a.) politically incorrect yet b.) the truth? Isn't that exactly the act that you're selling?
Trump previously said he was "fine with affirmative action" on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Proving yet again that, while he may say some conservative things, Trump is not a conservative.
