"....Ted Cruz's remarks, which the Times published a five-minute clip of on Thursday, were nowhere near as campaign-shattering as Romney's. The clip did, however, provide some insight into Cruz's thinking about the race and, notably, Donald Trump. The Texas senator has been noticeably reluctant to criticize his flame-throwing rival in the hopes of picking up his supporters when the flames ultimately engulf Trump's campaign. If that was his implied campaign strategy, Cruz says it explicitly to the crowd gathered at a Madison Avenue office.
Here's some of what Cruz had to say about Trump and Carson (via the Times):
>>>I like and respect both Donald and Ben. I do not believe either one is going to be our nominee. I don't believe either one is going to be our president. I think both of them, their campaigns have a natural arc. And with both of them I think gravity is pulling them down... Carson is further in that descent. You look at Paris, you look at San Bernardino, it's given a seriousness to this race, that people are looking for: Who is prepared to be a commander in chief? Who understands the threats we face? Who am I comfortable having their finger on the button? Now that's a question of strength, but it's also a question of judgment. And I think that is a question that is a challenging question for both of them. So my approach, much to the frustration of the media has been to bear hug both of them, and smother them with love. People run as who they are. I believe gravity will bring both of those campaigns down, I think the lion's share of their supporters come to us.<<<

Neither he nor his advisers, evidently, understand Trump supporters.
They’re both running for President, the gloves were going to come off eventually(Although this is barely “the gloves” coming off)
Either would be better than anything the dems could conjure up, so let the chips land where they may and let the best man win.
Yes, I positive that TRUMP, the man, WILL Take down Cruz the whiny baby.
You would think by now these guys would know in the age of smart phones there’s no such thing as talking confidentially to a group of supporters.
I thought Cruz sounded smarmy and oily- As in his “tone”.
Cause he is a lawyer?
He likes both Trump and Carson, but he thinks he is the better man for the jobExcept he has to hope for one of them to die because otherwise he doesn't have what it takes to compete with them.
A losers strategy/mindset.
Be sure to tune in Friday to Trump’s speech. He’s going to have priceless words about the force of gravity bringing him down. Cruz now skating close to the edge of the battlefield.
A very honorable reply, Cruz spoke perfect
Sounded? Are you judging the best by its sound?
It doesn't work that way anymore. One reason is that we know longer trust the DC elite and their controllers. We do care what they say behind close doors because we've learned how extreme their disdain for us "little folks" is.
Another reason is that it's just plain dumb to say something at a fundraiser that a candidate wouldn't say at a rally for all to hear. In the age of everyone's a spy, it will get out. That 47% comment by Romney pretty much was the beginning of his loss of viability as a candidate.
Cruz is thought by many to be the smartest guy in the room. He should know not to say things in private he won't say in public.
By Cruz’s vocal affect.
If you cant back the best because his voice sounds funny than you sir are a LIBERAL !
That sounds like a very small room, with about ten people. I’m guessing someone’s apartment. It could be easy to believe you are off the record in a venue like that, especially if videos have already been prevented. Audios are harder to hide.
It says “office” and “70 people” but it didn’t sound like 70 people to me when there was a reaction.
I guess you do not understand the difference between vocal affect, and funny voice.
Sometimes rickets of righteousness overcome gravity. I like it that Ted says this as Trump now consistently tops 35 and is starting to regularly top 40. Cruz’s “surge” gains him a point or two yet he falls further behind. When Cruz was at 8 and Trump 24 he was only 16 back. Now drifting to 30.
Oops. “Rockets” ( damned iPad)
