Police investigating the Paris terror attacks have shut down three mosques in a series of raids to close the net on Islamic extremists, the Express reports.
Police in France also arrested the owner of a revolver found during Wednesday’s raid, France’s Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said.
Security officials found jihadist documents at the mosque where yesterday’s raids took place.
They have placed nine people under house arrest. Another 22 have been banned from leaving the country Mr Cazeneuve said.
France has been under a state of emergency since 130 people were killed in a series of terror attacks in Paris on November 13. Since then, some 2,235 homes and buildings have been raided, 232 people taken into custody, and 334 weapons confiscated.
Cazeneuve said the number of weapons apprehended so far is staggering.
He said: “In 15 days we have seized one-third of the quantity of war-grade weapons that are normally seized in a year.”
This latest raid comes as authorities in a number of European countries crackdown on mosques suspected of being a breeding ground for extremists cells operating in the continent.
This week German authorities expressed concern refugees might be susceptible to radicalisation by Muslim extremists, who are using religion as an excuse to get closer to the new arrivals from Syria and other parts of the Middle East.
Officials said they have encountered at least 100 cases in which extremists have tried to establish contact with refugees. Those fleeing war and hunger in Syria and other parts of the Middle East, are allegedly being lured by rides, food, and shelter, as well as help with translation and traditional Muslim clothing.
Last month, several raids by police resulted in similar seizures of weapons.

The French government, even under a socialist, is targeting the Moslem threat directly. In a way, the ‘concern’ in this article is simply another way to avoid the fact that the problem is ISLAM.

France is closing a HUNDRED mosques that preach hatred. How much intel will they send to Obama? And how much of that intel will get shredded or misused?
Now, I get it that gun ownership in Europe is not necessarily all that high. And it may be an artifact of that that we find mention of a guy who owned a “pistol” being arrested because what’s a pistol if AKs are floating about? Well, it may be something if even pistols are rare.
And, of course, France doesn’t have a 2nd Amendment that was intended to assure that “war grade weapons” remain in the hands of ordinary citizens.
And I get that Islam is actually the problem, not that people aren’t living up to the tenants of some “religion of peace” but rather that some people actually are trying to do what the Koran enjoins.
But to my fellow Americans: please remember that we are in a long running struggle with leftist nitwits intent on removing guns from our grasp however they can and, let’s be frank here, there are probably individual neighborhoods in Texas where you could round up hundreds of what our so-called “progressive” friends would consider to be war grade weapons.
Please don’t use that rhetoric and give them room to play that game.
We aren’t France. You want an American “solution” to violent bad guys, be they terrorist or rioters/looters, or even just burglars, then let’s make sure we are adequately armed and can quickly bury them if they ever choose to pop their heads up.
It’s a good thing if bad guys have some trepidation, or even outright terror, of their intended victims.
Whack a Mole may not seem like much of a solution, and it isn’t, still, betting on the lusty power-mad stallions of DC (who either always run the wrong way if they don’t stumble or nearly always stumble should they ever try to run the race) to fix anything is not gonna achieve anything worthwhile ... they can’t even seem to wrap their noggins around restricting Muslim immigration.

A gamer friend said I was clinically insane for saying that allowing Islamic mosques to be built in a city was like letting NOD barracks be built in your base.
