Ted Cruz on Sunday refused to address how he would handle the millions of undocumented immigrants already living in the country, despite hammering Marco Rubio this weekend for previously supporting a path to citizenship. Cruz refused to take off the table his own support of a potential path to legal status despite his cries against "amnesty."
"Let's demonstrate we can stop illegal immigration, we can protect our national security interests, we can protect our law enforcement interests," Cruz said after a campaign stop in Newton, Iowa. "Then once that's done, we can have a conversation at that point about whatever people remain here illegally."
Cruz has insisted the border must be secured before addressing proposals of how to deal with the millions of undocumented immigrants still living in the United States.

“people like BlackFemaleArmyCaptain are such Trump fanbois, though, that they trash Trumpâs opponents without much thought. Expected.”
Real bright. Keep those floodgates open until the border is secured? And no deportation till then? How about both at once. Start deporting aggressively AND start securing the border at the same time.
No one is going to "round them up." Self-deportation should do the job if current laws are enforced: no welfare, no driver licenses, etc.
“Conversation” That’s great. We have another euphemism for amnesty.
“and know that people have their own opinions about issues and they donât have to always agree with yours.”
Lol,,, he’s never had that experience.
Cruz is right. There are basic steps to be taken first before we can even go address the illegals remaining. Without securing the border, any deportations would just be met by a stream of more illegals coming right back over the border replacing them.
...
Good point, but then Ted wants to have a conversation. That’s political speak for law abiding Americans get screwed once again.
I like Cruz, but he has been partially purchased by the Chamber of Commerce.
World Net Daily finally picking up on what Cruz has been saying for an entire year. Yay.
If they are in the U.S. illegally, they need to first go home. Then, they should be able to apply for re-entry IF they have not broken our laws.

Trump logic.
By being here previously as an illegal, every last one of them has broken our laws.
Is that not abundantly obvious to you?
Correct, treat the illness, not the symptoms!
They already did. Every one of them.
Sadly, this is more of the same.
I've been talking about this for months, even getting comparisons with Cincinnatus'Wife because nobody wants to believe me even when I bloody quote him. It's true. He's been saying it for ages and ages. And Cruz is lying when he calls Rubio a liar over the question of whether he supported legalization and expanding H1-Bs or not. Cruz has indeed supported legalization as a middle ground between citizenship and deportation since 2013 and even as recently as March 2015. After March, Cruz started giving interviews where he neither supports nor rejects legalization, giving this line about "conversations."
I will note that Scott Walker also started giving this "conversations" rhetoric shortly before he dropped out, which makes me think the GOP actually got together to work out rhetoric.
Yes it is.
I’m for the “border first, then and only then conversation”.
It’s time to turn the tables from 1986. Then, it was “amnesty first, then and only then conversation”, and the ‘Rats/Rinos reneged on border security.
This time, build then border with talk about “conversation” later. Then reneg on “conversation” after the border is taken care of.
Just deserts, karma, etc.
Deport them, and expedite them right back in— is that what you and Trump are advocating?
I don't think it's so absurd to actually want to know what your candidate supports before you vote for him.
You should apologize. BFAC didn’t trash anyone. YOU did.
You trashed her. All she did was post a thread.
I agree with Cruz. Stop the flow of illegals. Seal the borders, the coasts, the ports, the airports, visa control, and the ‘free trade access’. Bring it to a grinding halt, and then start over one step at a time.
Its not popular to say. But I notice most Hispanic politicians usually default to race uber alles. Not 100%, but its the way to bet a paycheck.
Why is someone more loyal to being Hispanic than to being American?
I don’t see German, French, British descent Americans demanding the old country be allowed to come before America.
Maybe it isn’t fair, but when you are a Hispanic politician, and you refuse to discuss what to do with the invaders, I am sure I know exactly what your plan really is.
It’s Ted’s refusal to stand with the wishes of most Americans (and our immigration laws) that has caused me to lose faith in him.
It would be all too easy for Ted to say, “The law is the law - for everyone in this country.” He wouldn’t have to do a thing, but say to all concerned, that illegals will be deported upon contact with state or federal law enforcement. That IS the lawful response to the discovery of any person who’s in this country illegally.
The fact that he doesn’t have the fortitude to speak those words, tells me that Ted’s already been compromised by the party, and/or deep pocket elites. If he somehow is elected president in this cycle, I won’t expect much of anything to change with regards to the illegal invasion.
You sadden me, Ted. I expected so much more from you.
