Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain lashed out at Jeb Bush in a blistering op-ed published Monday, saying he did better in his losing 2012 run than Bush has been able to do in 2016.
"At least I was once winning," Cain wrote on his website. "Jeb Bush has been doing nothing but losing throughout this entire campaign. His problem is him."
Last week, Bush reportedly pointed to Cain, a pizza magnate who led the GOP presidential field in October and November of 2011, as evidence that outsiders such as Donald Trump and Ben Carson will falter before the first votes are cast in Iowa.
Cain, who will appear at a rally with Trump on Monday in Georgia, kicked back in the op-ed, saying the former Florida governor has underperformed expectations and failed even to match Cain's 2012 efforts.
"He is the former governor of Florida and he has one of the most famous political last names in America," Cain wrote. "He has more political money behind him than any candidate in this race with the possible exception of Hillary Clinton. And how is he doing in the polls? The current Real Clear Politics average shows him in fifth place at 5.5 percent."

I was a winner before I was a loser.
Cain should have stayed in the race. He would have won. I doubt they had as much dirt on him as he thought they did.

To his credit, Yeb was actually leading in the RCP national average polling in Yuly at about 18%. Once Trump got into the race at that point, Yeb has experienced a fairly steady decline to his current status at about 5% and 5th place overall. Even iCarly passed him at one point! He’s also running 5th in his casa de Florida...impressive! The only way one can accomplish this feat while spending the most political money is to really suck as a candidate. People have been rejecting Yeb’s old Bush snake oil and it will be extremely difficult to pull victory from the jaws of defeat! He’ll need all of Tokyo Rove’s brainpower and dirty tricks to come back...

I liked Cain but if I read “Like a Herman Cain” one more time, I was going to scream.
But he forgot to add: “And the GOP that once held you up as the only electable candidate was largely responsible for destroying me.”

The difference is that Trump has his own money to run. Cain had none, or at least not enough.

Yes, but by golly, Yeb is a loser still and looks to be one from here on out too. There's a lot to be said for consistency. Well, it's something, anyway.

That's like saying Ben Carson was once winning. Neither Cain or Carson ever had a chance of being nominated.
