A group of tea party activists is convinced that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has struck a secret deal with rival Sen. Ted Cruz to guarantee the Texan the vice presidential spot on the ticket, and conservatives are raving that it would be the best pairing since Harry Burnett Reese combined peanut butter and Hershey’s chocolate.
The Cruz campaign vehemently denied that there was an agreement to form the conservatives’ “dream ticket,” while the Trump campaign remained mum.
“There is no such secret deal,” said Cruz campaign national spokesman Rick Tyler.
Still, speculation about an arranged marriage of Mr. Trump’s self-styled conservative crusade and Mr. Cruz’s die-hard tea party convictions gained credibility last week when Mr. Trump broached the subject himself.

Works for me.
So, are you saying that a guy like Ted Cruz will only show up based on the requirements listed in his job description?
Trump won't run for a second term. Cruz will have seasoned to the point that Trump will feel comfortable to pass the baton to Cruz. Furthermore, I think after four years cleaning out the DC rats nest, The Trumpinator will want to spend time with his grand-kids and playing golf.
There are several indications that if Trump is the Republican nominee, Cruz might well accept the VP slot.
— Trump and Cruz are friends.
— They had a well-publicized meeting last July.
— Cruz invited Trump to participate in the protest against Obamas nuclear deal
The country could do a lot worse that combine Trumps strength with Cruzs brilliance.
With all that being said, however, I would still prefer Cruz at the head of the ticket.
I’m thinking Trump goes with a woman VP, I’m just not sure who he has up his sleeve. His VP is a woman.
“Vs. Hillary, I’m thinking female.”
Actually, females get negative when they consider another female. Imagine if Barbara Eden were on a ticket. Most women would go ape crazy trying to think of ways to criticize her.
Why do you think that almost all male candidates lost their sideburns and look so clean cut? Why do taller candidates win almost all the time? Women are more influenced by trivial matters.
I think Trump will hire Cruz as the AG for four years, and when some vacancy comes up in 2019 on the Supreme Court....Cruz gets the nod. If you ask me....that’s the bread and butter resolution of this....Cruz there for twenty years or more.
One of the rare exceptions to the rule of females disliking female power plays is Palin, and there was some cattiness against her too.
I agree. Cruz would MASSIVELY energize the base, and a lot of female voters would love seeing two attractive candidates.
I think Cruz would be fabulous as a Supreme Court nominee.
Perfect.
Trump as president. Palin as vice president.
Cruz for the Supreme Court. Then take it from there.
Funny thing about women — they like good-looking passionate men and have proven themselves willing to think very positive of such candidates. Trump and Cruz would be a famale-vote magnet, and I don’t think a female republican candidate would be well-liked.
Palin could, however, be a game-changer if she were considered. She’s one of those rare beauties who many women actually like.
Palin as VP...? Seriously ?
Dude, give up that fantasy....
Sarah had her moment in history, wonderful patriot, but done for elected office...
I am convinced that Sarah Palin would be perfect as Vice President, I think Donald is considering her for the job, and she just might get it.
100%.
Palin would be awesome.
It would kill Hill if Palin, or any other Republican woman, got to be the first woman VP while Hill is a left a loser, never to live in the white house again! The cackling witch would implode or melt or damn near do both! Delicious!
Trump fights back effectively against whoever attacks him, and this is what I want in a President now, after 7 years of a Moslem socialist fundamentally weakening the country in an alliance with most of the media while all the elected Republicans were ineffectual at stopping that campaign.
Cruz would be eviscerated by the media and the Dems in a general election, while being stabbed in the back by the other Senators and Governors who did not get the nomination. Trump, having star power his own money, and a willingness to fight back, is better situated to prevail. Not being a career Republican, nor that political at all heretofore, frees him from having to run on the Republican record. Instead, his opponents have to attack him personally (witness the NYT and Fox attacks), which gives him more free advertising to counter their attacks. He is the story.
If the destination is a seat on USSC then Cruz is taking an odd path to get there. Has there ever been a member of the Supreme Court who previously ran for President?
Is there one single piece of evidence to back up your comment...?
I think Trump would make a much better running mate for Cruz than Rubio would (I’ve read several RINO suggestions that an all-Hispanic Cruz-Rubio ticket would be what conservatives need). Putting a pro-Amnesty liar, like Rubio, on the ticket would disappoint me. As for Trump, he’d be great, he’d be huge, and he’d be just what Cruz needs to garner free publicity and keep the media in line.
I don’t see any way where Trump would settle for VP. Too much ego. Much too much ego.
Perhaps Trump would be okay with “settling” for VP, particularly if it would help to save our country.
