World leaders have taken to calling ISIS “Daesh,†a word the Islamic State hates.
Since the attacks in Paris, both John Kerry and François Hollande have used it. The Kurdish militants battling ISIS in Iraq already use the term regularly, though they risk loosing their tongues by uttering it.
Daesh is an acronym. It stands for the Arabic name of the Islamic State: al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham. When Jen Percy, a New Republic contributor, went to northern Iraq this year, the Assyrian Christians waging a war against ISIS were calling ISIS troops “Daesh.†In her article for our September issue, she called it “a pejorative term for ISIS in Arabic.â€

Did the New Republic just learn this? Calling IS Daesh to insult them is very old news.

Yea, the Iranian Special Forces operating out of Bagdad/Masul have been calling them that on YouTube for 3 years or so.
I just call them camel “boinkers” - and I am being civil.

Remember that branding is an effective technique. It is used here in the US all the time. For good and bad. The reason it is used so much is because it works.
I believe that I must speak out against Islam and not the people who are Moslems. There is a difference in loathing Islam as an erroneous doctrine and the people who practice it. Islam is a twisted idealogy. Moslems are only misguided people, slaves to a violent form of authoritarianism.
Islam is no religion. It must be banned in America as it was banned in Angola! And all mosques closed in America as they were in Angola. Then Moslems who live in America can live in freedom & peace or move to a country where Islam is legal.
