As J. Christian Adams reported yesterday, Politico published an article on Friday claiming that Ben Carson’s campaign “admitted†he lied about being offered a “full government scholarship†to West Point. My colleague pointed out that Politico’s reporting was sloppy, but the same goes – he argued – for the campaign’s response. The point seems to be: Politico’s article isn’t entirely fair, but Carson’s response and exaggerations mean he’s not ready for the spotlight.
Although Carson’s campaign certainly made a mistake by responding to Politico’s inquiries the way they did – they kept it too vague – the fact of the matter is that the website’s piece was nothing more than a hackjob. Politico is known to be the personal propaganda website of Democrats and the Republican Party’s establishment, both of whom hate Carson (and other outsiders and/or conservatives like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz).
Here are the facts. As Mark Levin explained on his radio show yesterday, West Point frequently put out ads back then (we’re talking almost 50 years ago) claiming that students would get “full government scholarships.†They would get everything for free: they wouldn’t have to pay tuition, they’d even get a wage, and everything they needed to live (dormitories, etc.) would be taken care of. In return, the students had to serve a couple of years in the military after they graduated. This system is still in place by the way, but I’m not sure West Point still advertises it as “full government scholarships†as such.
Although every single West Point-student gets that offer, Carson didn’t pretend that the ‘offer’ given to him was special. He just said – and repeated it several times – that General Westmoreland had told him he could help Carson get into West Point and offer him that full government scholarship.

Im a Trump supporter but Im in now way one of these conspiracy kooks that flood FR from time to time...Carson, whom Im not a fan of, was slammed by the media. I suggest conservatives stand against this crap. Rush said the same thing. Of course for FOLLOWERS they always look for a conspiracy.....now go look for UFOs and leave the debate for intelligent people that ask questions and take a stand.
I will “rally” around Ben Carson on this issue only.
Otherwise he needs to rally around conservative positions on immigration, guns and trade.

So, why then is he polling so terribly with women after his attacks on Megyn Kelly and Carly Fiorina?
Yes, he plunges right on through, but your assessment of the damage is way off.
And he did it again yesterday when he joined Politico at the hip and took their word against Dr. Carson’s. Even many of Trump’s supporters have acknowledged that was a poor move on his part. Trump’s supporters typically acknowledge nothing negative about him, so he definitely hurt himself with conservatives. As with his attacks on Kelly and Fiorina, it was poor judgement on his part and last I looked, the quality of one’s judgement is a prime consideration when electing a President.
The Dems and MSM are salivating over the possibility that the GOP could actually nominate Trump. It won’t happen, but they’d love to see it.
This is not about rallying around Dr. Carson. This is about standing up to the MSM rather than joining them when they do one of these obvious hit pieces.

The MSM has given Trump so much free press that he hasn’t even had to spend his own money yet. Yet Trump supporters keep claiming the press has been trying to destroy him. They’ve done the opposite. Where are the hit pieces on Trump that have supposedly been out there for months?
Oh, you’ll find them, but they’re factual and were written by conservatives who know that Donald Trump is no conservative. The MSM has treated him with kid gloves. Just watch how they handle his SNL appearance tonight as an example. I’ll wager you he comes out of it just fine in the MSM.
Now imagine the treatment Dr. Carson would get in a similar situation....

Was this obviously-fake Politico story BY DESIGN to gain conservative traction for the new “martyr” Carson and take support away from Trump? It was so sloppy and obviously false it raises my suspicions.
All the conservative outlets are giving Carson a lot of air time. Hardly any are promoting Cruz. I like Carson, but he is 3rd on my list, so I even tho want him to be treated fairly, but who is standing up for other candidates to be treated fairly? The RNC and the left launched 2-3 superPacs to take Cruz out and it seems to me that most of the media outlets have agreed to not give Cruz airtime. How fair is that? Who is standing for Cruz?
I will point out any msm hit piece but that does not change my thoughts that Ben Carson is not the man for President.

Dr. Carson is NOT the annointed nice guy “Saint” that so many here want to paint him. The same people who yell to high heavens about AMNESTY, SAME SEX MARRIAGE and all the other spin offs from that SC decision, his association and admiration for Al Sharpton and Farrakhan, now have to take a look at his stand FOR Obama’s TPP which destroys America’s SOVEREIGNTY! I WILL NOT SUPPORT or Rally around someone I do not agree with. I don’t care who or what is exposing him on trivia. The counts against him are OVERWHELMING and I’ll be glad when he is OUT of the race. If he were elected, do you think he would give a hoot about the country if he could go off on a book tour? His attitude is an insult to all of us.

BALONEY! Carson doesn’t have the skill set to deal with anything outside of his operating room! And from what i hear, he hasn’t always performed too well inside the operating room either.
Carson is on the WRONG SIDE in ALL the major issues facing this country, and freepers are worrying about the “good doctor” being picked on by the media.
The field needs thinning and I hope Carson is soon gone. He is way out of his class.
Carson once supervised a bake sale. And he wrote the clean-up rules for the doctor’s lounge coffee corner.
