As J. Christian Adams reported yesterday, Politico published an article on Friday claiming that Ben Carsonâs campaign âadmittedâ he lied about being offered a âfull government scholarshipâ to West Point. My colleague pointed out that Politicoâs reporting was sloppy, but the same goes â he argued â for the campaignâs response. The point seems to be: Politicoâs article isnât entirely fair, but Carsonâs response and exaggerations mean heâs not ready for the spotlight.
Although Carsonâs campaign certainly made a mistake by responding to Politicoâs inquiries the way they did â they kept it too vague â the fact of the matter is that the websiteâs piece was nothing more than a hackjob. Politico is known to be the personal propaganda website of Democrats and the Republican Partyâs establishment, both of whom hate Carson (and other outsiders and/or conservatives like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz).
Here are the facts. As Mark Levin explained on his radio show yesterday, West Point frequently put out ads back then (weâre talking almost 50 years ago) claiming that students would get âfull government scholarships.â They would get everything for free: they wouldnât have to pay tuition, theyâd even get a wage, and everything they needed to live (dormitories, etc.) would be taken care of. In return, the students had to serve a couple of years in the military after they graduated. This system is still in place by the way, but Iâm not sure West Point still advertises it as âfull government scholarshipsâ as such.
Although every single West Point-student gets that offer, Carson didnât pretend that the âofferâ given to him was special. He just said â and repeated it several times â that General Westmoreland had told him he could help Carson get into West Point and offer him that full government scholarship.

Kira says her grandfather’s brother died in the Roswell crash. :)
Don’t they have like ray-guns to resurrect him?
Too many questions about this guy!
Oh, that is a great term, “enemedia.” Good job coming up with that. It fits perfectly.
See this...enemedia
I make no claim to inventing it.
I would hope they would treat Carson fairly, but MSM doesn’t treat anyone opposing Hillary fairly including Trump. Too bad the media can’t present fact then let voters decide. That’s why I watch OAN.
I’m not so sure of what you are saying because I believe Carson is a presidential candidate backed by a political machine determined to use him so their handpicked candidate can win.
If that means creating an artificial controversy to suck in those of us who know the media is biased, they will.
