A New York court recently ruled that a Long Island woman who killed her baby in a car accident cannot be convicted because her baby was not a person yet.
The Times Union reports Jennifer Jorgensen previously was found guilty of second-degree manslaughter for causing the death of her baby daughter in a car crash. She also was indicted for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the report.
Jorgensen was in her third trimester when the car accident occurred in May 2008. Her daughter was delivered by C-section after the head-on collision and died six days later, according to the report.
In October, the New York Court of Appeals reversed Jorgensenâs conviction, ruling that she was not guilty because she fatally injured her daughter before she was born.
The court ruling compared Jorgensenâs actions to self-induced abortion and called it an offense that is âno greater than a misdemeanor.â

We have truly abandoned all common sense and all common decency. Worst of all, we are in a whirlpool of depravity; the deeper we descend, the more rapidly things are going to move along.
Evil is in-your-face proud and defiant these days. There was a time when people who did shameful things at least tried to hide it. Now these evil folks parade their sins in our streets. Even worse, our own (federal) government has taken the side of evil in this battle for morality. The American experiment in individual (self-restraining) liberty is failing!
We’ve fallen off of the slippery slope.
This is consistent with the evil law, or we would have to imprison late term abortionists. What is inconsistent is that if someone shot her with a gun and the soon-to-be-born baby died, they could be charged with the murder of the child. I guess because the shooter doesn’t have a medical degree.
I say that those judges who made this ruling are not human beings.
How far we’ve fallen as a civilization. It boggles the mind.
Court is just being consistent with their ruling/beliefs. Unfortunately there is hell to pay if they don’t repent (Which I believe they are reprobates who are way past the humility they need for Salvation).
I wonder if she carried her own medical insurance. Seems to me the insurance company would not have to pay for the birth of a non-person.
Thank the voters that said winning and not principle mattered. This is the direct result of their beliefs and actions.
From the comments section ...
Jorgensen is no longer being held accountable for her babyâs death because, in the eyes of the state, her unborn daughter did not have the rights of personhood when her reckless behavior fatally injured her child.
The whole point of Dred Scott was that black people were declared non-persons...
Babies and children and adults get killed in car accidents all the time. No one goes to jail.
If a six day old is not a person then perhaps neither is a forty year old lawyer.
I guess you didn’t read the article:
The Times Union reports Jennifer Jorgensen previously was found guilty of second-degree manslaughter for causing the death of her baby daughter in a car crash. She also was indicted for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the report.
Still once the baby had lived outside the womb for 6 days, it's a baby. Well, it's a stupid ruling whether the baby could breathe on its own or needed life support.
Usually if a baby dies because it's mother used drugs or was drunk, there are charges that stick.
Meanwhile, on ABC is featured an article, "Underground Wildlife's House of the Dead". It is a respository for confiscated animal parts of lions, tigers, rhinos, elephants, etc. It leads off with the following contiguous sentences:
"The small, frail body sat on a miniature wooden tablet. Its bloodshot eyes reflecting its haunted past.
"'The most shocking thing I think we have ⦠is I think the tiger fetus,' Supervisory Wildlife Repository Specialist Coleen Schaefer told ABC News.'
"The fetus doesnât look quite real. Its face bends down towards its tiny paws.
'âWhen I see items like the tiger fetus you can become despondent,â Schaefer said.'"
The four sentences are confusing, and I have to assume the first quoted sentence belongs with the following three.
The second and fourth sentences are spoken by a worker at the facility. The first and third are quotes from the article.
While I find anything endangered, rare, and poached for no other reason than trafficking with the body parts tragic and sad, howl much moreso of human fetuses?.
Tiger fetus caused by human trafficking = Bad
Baby fetus traffickers as described in the Planned Parenthood "underground" videos = Bad because the medical company filmed the exchanges and Good because they are making money selling the body parts. According to pro choice people.
Sorry I garbled the quoted material, don't know how to do it correctly according to English usage or html-wise.
When NY disappears under the waves of the sea, who will mourn for that cesspool. of degenerates?
More and more I hate this country and my fellow countrymen
