Prayer request for Doomonyou [update 296, 462, 497] (UPDATE AT 566)
Vanity ^ | 10-30-15 | Doomonyou

Posted on 10/30/2015 8:19:14 PM PDT by Doomonyou

Hey all, I certainly wasn't expecting to be posting a vanity like this when this morning started. Mrs. Doomonyou and I moved to Texas a month or two ago fulfilling a five year dream to get out of CA for a red state and God answered big time. We're still getting moved in and the new job is going great. As a result of getting out from behind a desk and out in the field I'm away from a total A hole boss. Anyway, I dumped about 18 pounds just being more active and out of the stress. So two weeks ago I'm starting to feel kind of bloated and full all the time and tired due to having problems falling asleep. I've been eating as much as comes out the backside which isn't Much. This morning I saw my Doc, had blood, urine work and a CT scan. Wasn't sure what to expect.

“You keep up the great work of healing, and we’ll be keeping-up the prayers, FRiend ;-)”

I can’t improve on this so I second it. No doom on you!

Thank you for the ping, LucyT, and the update, Doomonyou.

I remember my first chemo session last December. I sailed
through the thing with no side effects at all. subsequent
sessions didn’t go as well because of the side effects,
but here I am, with only two sessions to go, and things
are going very well.

I hope that the rest of your sessions go smoothly and that
your oncologist and nurses give you the drugs you may need
for any side effects that are particularly bothersome for you.

May God Bless you with many more years lived in good health
with your dear Lisa, in the Holy Name of our Lord, Jesus, I
humbly pray for you and your family.

Talked to my Oncologist today and had the white blood cell booster shot. Still no chemo side effects yet! Chemo day +2 is tomorrow so we shall see what that brings.

Talked with MD Anderson today, they are waiting on a set of pathology slides to review (which are on the way we found out today) so I should have an appointment day in the near future in Houston!

Dr. Paula (my Oncologist) said I need to go because this form of Mesothelioma (which is rare enough) is about .1% of the total Mesothelioma cases out there. From her conversation with the Cancer board, one of the members was trained at MD and suggested a "cure" as opposed to control or containment could be surgery where they would go in and remove my entire gut sack (You Deer hunters know what that means) and then remove the tumor in my stomach. Sounds kind of radical to me, but If that's an option, I'll listen. Another option my be to go in surgically and apply the chemo directly to the cancer in the abdomen. Lots to think about but we are excited about getting down to MD in probably a week or two I'd guess.

Thanks for the continued prayers! I'd say Gods listening!

Jeff

Glad to hear that MD Anderson is formulating a plan for you.

You’ll have a lot to think about, but you have a positive way of thinking, which will help a great deal. :-)

Glad you are doing so well. I had chemo, including carboplatin 12 years ago now. Believe it or not, I never threw up once! I was not even nauseous. My oncologist said they have lots of options, so if I got feeling bad to call them. We changed my meds once, and I was fine.

I also had bone aches the first time. He told me to take the steroids at a specific time.... which was before the pain started. I did and had no more pain. My friend waited and took them after the pain started and suffered through her whole round of chemo. My lesson? Follow instructions!

Fatigue is an issue. Give yourself permission to rest and nap. Learn to prioritize your time. You will not be able to get 5 more minutes! When your energy is gone you will nap NOW. Do you want to be with that person you don’t like much, or have dinner with the fam.

Blessings on you Doom. I wouldn’t want to repeat the experience, but while I was in it I felt very cocooned by God. It barely makes the top 5 of the worst things to happen to me in my life.

Thank you, Tired of Taxes. You’re very kind.

My year of chemo is coming to a close. The cancer and fast-growing-cell killer drug infusions are over with,
and my sessions since the destructo drugs have been cancer-gene suppression infusions of Herceptin.

My only side effect from Herceptin is a week or so of exhaustion. Resting takes care of that, though.

Ah, I see now... The women I met who were on Herceptin told me the same about it. Still, it’s been a long year for you. I hope now you can rest and enjoy this holiday season.
