Donald Trump says he doesnt flat out blame former president George W. Bush that the Sept. 11 terror attacks happened on his watch. But he can think of three reasons why one could hold Bush responsible.
And, he might add, they are three things a President Trump would do very differently.
You always have to look to the person at the top, Trump said Saturday in a telephone interview. Do I blame George Bush? I only say that he was the president at the time, and you know, you could say the buck stops here.
So why might one consider Bush responsible?
No. 1: Bushs immigration policy. We had very weak immigration laws, Trump said, adding that perhaps if Bush had had a Trump-style immigration policy, replete with the strong laws that Im wanting, these terrorists wouldnt have been in the country.

Most of the major media at the time said that it was Bush’s fault. But only liberals are allowed to say that.
As the “Buck Stops Here” person. He was technically responsible. But the real responsibility for 9/11 was President William Jefferson Clinton and Jaime Gorelick.
The former had the opportunity to dispense with Osama Bin Laden much earlier, and the second is responsible, as Assist AG, in throwing up the “wall” between the CIA and FBI with respect to interchange of information between them that should have stopped the actual plan.
No one else.
I think this is jeb’s way of getting out of the race, it's like death by cop....in jeb’s feeble mind he thinks if Trump keeps ‘attacking’ him, he can lose and say it was Trumps fault because he can't blame himself for being so unimportant and stupid....
Add Ted Kennedy for our immigration laws.
And add every president from Carter on for weak border control.
Didn’t Syria twice contact Clinton when they had bin Laden in their sights and he refused to do anything?
Also, don’t forget the man who, just after 9/11 when we were going after those responsible, did have bin Laden in his sights from the air and refused to give the order to shoot him saying ‘he just didn’t feel good about it’.
Blame to go everywhere.
OH MAN, TRUMP STEPPED IN IT THIS TIME! THIS IS IT! REINCE, TOM DONAHUE, GET THE CHAMPAGNE! YOU DON’T TALK ABOUT 9/11! TRUMP’S POLL NUMBERS WILL TANK NOW, I TELL YA!
Fascinating how everyone here is lining up to place blame on Dems and/or ‘Pubs, and not one mention of the Saudis, Osama, or Islam. Amazing.
I believe so.....maybe more times than that, but that’s probably secret still today.
The cretins of this country were so enamored of a two-d!ck billy goat who was a serial philanderer, rapist, no-good slick-talking asswipe, that it couldn’t see the devilry he and his wife and associate ilk let happen in their road to power.
Trump’s first point is an impossible expectation. Unless Bush came into office like a dictator and set about changing immigration law in his first few months in office via Executive Order...the law wasn’t going to change anytime soon. BUT...the question remains how well the Executive Branch was enforcing existing law and did that have an effect on the 9/11 terrorists?
Points Number 2 & 3 could be fairly valid as those are Executive Branch responsibilities. The argument against those perceptions is how much of a ‘honeymoon’ period should the new President have?
It was Qatar or something like that, I believe.
He didn’t call for GWB’s impeachment over this. He said the impeachable offense was starting a war based on a lie.
Remember when George Bush backed away from the term Islamo Fascist??

There are lots of reason why Bush didn’t “keep us safe”: Bush’s “be nice” to the murdering muslims campaign, his support for open borders, the fact that he kept Colin Powell around so long, forcing us to dither at the UN, his transportation secretary holdover from the Clinton Administration, the despicable terms of engagement with the enemy, paralleling Viet-Nam, his keeping quiet on the found yellow-cake being moved to Canada. And on, and on.
Just remember, all this 9-11 chatter by Trump isn’t about GW, it’s about Yeb!
sour grapes are out in force this mornin
But, knowing all of the crap that Clinton did, Bush did nothing to turn the tables upside down to eradicate it the moment he got into office. The fact that John Q. Public knew it, just what could one imagine was disseminated during the transition, even as late as it was.
The overriding fact is that with all of the warnings and threats from OBL himself, we recognized after the fact that the nation was fat, dumb and happy and we as a whole were asleep at the switch.
A proactive leader would have turned the tables upside down, fired others and cleared the decks to make sure those threats remained as that, threats. Instead, we had a government full of reactive politicians and we got nailed.
Thank God that Bush was able to react in a positive manner but then again covered for the Bin Laden family whisking them out of the country secretly while we had to cool our heels on a nationwide grounding of the entire commercial aviation system.
Then starts the “Religion of Peace” crap. Followed by the “Let’s go shopping!” They treated us like a bunch of children.
And remember the woman who stepped up.....said something odd is happening.
Said there were some foreigners taking flight lessons....but they only wanted to learn how to takeoff....not how to land an aircraft.
And the thing is, they never left during Bush's term - only adding to their numbers - and Obama has made it even worse. For a President Trump to fix anything, he will have to do what Bush did not dare to do and say "You're fired!" early and often, while remaining deaf to the caterwauling of the MSM.
