Most of the major media at the time said that it was Bush’s fault. But only liberals are allowed to say that.

As the “Buck Stops Here” person. He was technically responsible. But the real responsibility for 9/11 was President William Jefferson Clinton and Jaime Gorelick.

The former had the opportunity to dispense with Osama Bin Laden much earlier, and the second is responsible, as Assist AG, in throwing up the “wall” between the CIA and FBI with respect to interchange of information between them that should have stopped the actual plan.

No one else.

Everything Trump says is true...the whole article is true....he's not blaming anyone, if jeb can't take the heat of the oven then he best not be in the kitchen...

I think this is jeb’s way of getting out of the race, it's like death by cop....in jeb’s feeble mind he thinks if Trump keeps ‘attacking’ him, he can lose and say it was Trumps fault because he can't blame himself for being so unimportant and stupid....

Trump was right. And the coordination between the three agencies was noted a long time ago that let some of the terrorists slip through. All Trump did was, when forced by Jeb, restate the same that was known before. Anyone that cannot see that Trump is very much up to speed to get this Country back to being great and safer is sadly mistaken. Tons of crap King Obama has done will take years to change if ever. King Obama is the worst communists black Muslim terrorists the Country has ever seen.

Fascinating how everyone here is lining up to place blame on Dems and/or ‘Pubs, and not one mention of the Saudis, Osama, or Islam. Amazing.

Trump’s first point is an impossible expectation. Unless Bush came into office like a dictator and set about changing immigration law in his first few months in office via Executive Order...the law wasn’t going to change anytime soon. BUT...the question remains how well the Executive Branch was enforcing existing law and did that have an effect on the 9/11 terrorists?

Points Number 2 & 3 could be fairly valid as those are Executive Branch responsibilities. The argument against those perceptions is how much of a ‘honeymoon’ period should the new President have?

Remember when George Bush backed away from the term Islamo Fascist??

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4785065.stm

There are lots of reason why Bush didn’t “keep us safe”: Bush’s “be nice” to the murdering muslims campaign, his support for open borders, the fact that he kept Colin Powell around so long, forcing us to dither at the UN, his transportation secretary holdover from the Clinton Administration, the despicable terms of engagement with the enemy, paralleling Viet-Nam, his keeping quiet on the found yellow-cake being moved to Canada. And on, and on.

The larger point that Trump doesn't quite touch on is that after Al Gore created a permanently divided America with his endless recounts, Bush did not feel he had enough of a public mandate to systematically remove the huge horde of progressive Clinton plants infesting all of the agencies - 9/11 may well have resulted directly because of the hordes of incompetents filling key positions in that year.

And the thing is, they never left during Bush's term - only adding to their numbers - and Obama has made it even worse. For a President Trump to fix anything, he will have to do what Bush did not dare to do and say "You're fired!" early and often, while remaining deaf to the caterwauling of the MSM.

“I don’t blame anybody,” Trump continued, after listing those points. “But it’s possible,” he continued, that had the administration had stronger policy on those points, “perhaps something could have been done that was obviously better than the worst attack ever perpetrated on the United States.”

There is a lot of bias and slant in the article and I will let everyone use their propaganda analysis skills.

When I was in Toastmasters and a meeting had gone badly, one of the older gentlemen stood up and simply said, “We can do better than this.”

Some in the club were offended by that, I heard it has a challenge to do better.

So, to paraphrase Trump and I wish he would say it repeatedly:

WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS............................

The only thing I know is that if it had happened on Obama’s watch, he would have blamed Bush.

If Saddam were still in power would we now have the barbarians invading Europe?

Seems to me the “Arab spring” is at the beginning of the invasion of the ages.

I wonder if Donald Trump is aware over 600 US Veterans are being treated for, and compensated for exposure to WMD?

Masterful and gutsy politics from Trump on this.

He has basically taken off the table one of the main reasons that some might support Jebbie - that he is the brother of the guy who "kept us safe" after 9/11.

Trump does make some good points. Of course GWB is not directly responsible for 9/11 but it's clear that his administration had opportunities to keep such an attack from happening. Why were those terrorists even allowed into this country? Why wasn't CIA, FBI and NSA sharing information on potential terrorist acts? Why was George Tenet's specific warning disregarded?

Other politicians would rather walk on eggshells and not go there, but not Trump.

Of course, should Trump get into the presidency, he'll be held accountable for whatever happens on his watch. Trust me on this. The media will not allow him to blame anything on Obama even though they allowed Obama to blame pretty much everything that happened on his watch on GWB. This would be the case whether Trump mentions 9/11 or not.

I hate to say this, but if those radicals had to come in with propped screenings instead of to open arms this probably would not have happened.
No communications between departments like the CIA and the FBI was also insane. One group had information by a flight school about the guys who flew these planes wanting in air training ONLY.
Ball was indeed dropped.

There’s something deeper here.

McCain, and now GW Bush. Trump reveals the obvious and all the media and other polls go running to find a meaning.

Why? [I have my own theories]. Who’s pulling who around by the nose?

Remember, all!!!

The President who failed to take care of America following the 1993 WTC attack and other significant attacks on American interests worldwide, who also failed to monitor the activities of the enemies who were entrenched and able to carry out the atrocity to which Trump refers, was Bill Clinton, husband of "the one" who Democrats now want to be trusted to "protect and defend" America.

Jeb Bush should stop trying to defend his brother and focus on his own shortcomings and how to fix them. Also, Rubio is hitting him hard!
