Someone needs to correct Rush Limbaugh.
He just said on his radio program that it was Roll Call that exposed the Dan Rather fake letters during the Bush presidential campaign.
I believe it was our own FReeper 'Bulkhead' who exposed the fake.

Did you get that from Business Insider?...No, from the MSM. They pointed out that Buckhead was one of the lawyers who fought Gore vs. Bush, so therefore it was a set up by Buckhead and Bush. Where YOU been?
Bulkhead is friends with Big Jim Thompson.
There's a move about it in the making with Robert Redford as Rather. Rush says they will extend/continue/reinforce the lie.
I see what you did there.
Here first, then Little Green Footballs. . .
You didn’t answer the question.
You're spamming my post, JERK.
A number of us old timers were on that thread.
Buckhead immediately spotted the font that wasn’t available years earlier. He especially noted the th that was raised and in a smaller print, e.g., 4th. The old typewriters, even the variable spaced ones, didn’t do that.
It was Buckhead who spotted it first. Immediately the media folks started combing through Buckhead’s old posts to get clues as to his identity. Almost as quickly people here removed their state designation and any other identifying information on our FR home page.
Those were the days - when we were a bit naive about the power and permanency of the internet.
Buckhead wasn’t the first, tankerkc got it before him in the same thread
Courtesy ping ...
he absolutely was the first...remember it as though it was yesterday- Buckhead talked about that type of font not being around when the “documents” were prepared and the typewriter needed for that sort of font cost $11K or something to that extent...
he was initially mocked for saying so but then the story picked up steam...if memory serves me Buckhead’s post was a few hours after the See BS story aired.
Zot!! Fool.
We all don't bow down and scrap to him...
If memory serves me correct, he at one time had a serious problem with some of the comments posted here...

Sorry, LJ, you just didn't get my joke.
I read that thread that very night. I thought how clever he was to have seen this. The next day while the news was blathering I pointed out the fake nature of this to somebody who was impressed at what I knew. Thanks Buck!
Freeper buckhead during Nam had been a USAF clerk married to typewriters and knew them backwards, forewards and sideways.
He knew in a microsecond something was wrong when The Letter showed the supposed old typewriter had the THEN magical ability to type Superscripts.
