Donald Trump will not be the Republican nominee for president, Ted Cruz said Thursday, claiming that a majority of the Manhattan real-estate mogul's supporters would end up voting for him instead.
Cruz was asked whether he believed he could beat Trump based on his principles, in an interview with WABC's Rita Cosby that will air on Sunday. "I think that's right. I think in time I don't believe Donald is going to be the nominee and I think in time the lions share of his supporters end up with us," the freshman senator predicted. "And I think the reason is what I was just saying, that if you look to the records of all the Republican candidates there's a big difference between my record and that of everyone else if you ask, who has stood up to Washington?
He continued: "Who's taken on not just Democrats, but taken on leaders in their own party? Republican leadership, whether was leading the fight to stop Obamacare? Whether it was leading the fight to stop executive amnesty? Or actually, just going back to last week. You know at the last Republican debate in California, every Republican candidate stood up there and said, 'we need to defund Planned Parenthood.' But last week, when we had an epic drag down fight in Washington, not one of them showed up."
Cruz, who has declined to criticize Trump, unlike some of his GOP presidential rivals, reiterated that he is "glad" he is in the race and that his candidacy has reflected favorably on his own positions.

STOP ANSWERING LIBTARD MEDIA QUESTION ABOUT OTHER CANDIDATES

Nice take. Cruz dares not mention all of his insider activities. Cruz is a regular Energizer Bunny in the Senate...running around to all his important committee duties.

I would vote for Cruz and I will certainly never say anything bad about him. Ultimately, I think he will be viewed by the electorate as extreme and personally where the country is at I just don’t see him getting elected. I could be wrong but I’m with Trump all the way. Cruz is bomb thrower which I love but I just think he is hated so much they will sabotage him.
The establishment will sabotage Trump too but he will get the black vote more than anybody and the Hispanics..mark my words!
Either way, I believe without a doubt the GOPe would rather have Hillary than either of these guys.
Poor judgment and a pointless thing to say. This sort of talk has been going on since Trump entered the race, but that was from the Trump haters. Cruz didn't help himself by joining the chorus of those who've spent three months insulting Trump and his supporters.
Would you expect Cruz to say anything different. /rhetorical
It’s easy to say the Giants score more touchdowns than the Yankees, because the Yankees don’t play football.
While I applaud Mr. Cruz’s patriotism in the Senate, the fact is Mr. Trump has been playing a different game in the private sector with different goals and objectives.
One of Mr. Trump’s claims to fame is that he’s NOT a politician, NOT beholden to large donors, and NOT in fear of the Party bosses cutting his ties to business and social contacts.
Mr. Cruz is a formidable opponent and may well be correct in his predictions. But comparing his stellar performance in the Senate when Mr. Trump is and always has been in the private sector is an unfair comparison.
But the issue of trade is Trump's winning card. Trump has been consistent in saying US trade deals are ruining our nation. Here's why Trump's trade stance is a winning issue...and sets him above the pack.
======================================
PONDER THIS Having few other issues to bank on, Obama is big on TPP---calls the deal "central" to his second-term "legacy," as well as to his "foreign policy" and "economic" agendas.
==============================================
Cruz, as well as Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and many Republican Congressional leaders', support for TPP places all of them in the hated GOPe camp.
MEMO TO DONALD: "play the trump card, Donald."
Cruz's vote to fast-track TPP is a GOPe vote to support Obama's "legacy".
Much ado.
What’s Cruz supposed to say, “Yeah, I can’t win, Trump’s the guy?”
If I’m donating big money to Cruz, and I am, he’d better believe nobody else will win but him!!
Trump can’t win. Check.
El Jefe can’t win Check.
Rube can’t win. Check.
Trump and Cruz are in fact fighting for the same nod. Cruz had better believe only he can win.
I haven’t had time to listen to the whole thing, but the audio of the interview is here:

Cruz: Trump won't be GOP nominee
McCarthy a lock for Speaker
Who cares what Politico says?
This is silly. Of course Cruz isn’t going to say his opponent will beat him. All you Cruz bashers, what did you expect him to say.
I do not think DT was in it for the long haul at first....but I think it’s quite obvious that now he is.
You are right to say that this dynamic is why Trump and Carson are doing so well, and Carly too. HOWEVER...to say Cruz is "part of the political class" is a bit absurd. He's never had anything in common with McConnell McCain Graham Boehner etc. He's never been part of the Fox News Wall St. Journal Chamber of Commerce crowd. By your definition, that anyone in politics is part of the political class - then A: they're now ALL part of that class and B: you've given up hope because obviously you think someone is part of the problem simply by taking the oath of office.
Now Mike....as you know....most around here who don't know what you and I know - will assume that's sarcasm!
yup the real outsider.
This was the only rational response he could have given. He can't very well justify staying in the race if he expects to lose.
I’m not a Trump supporter, that isn’t to say one day I couldn’t be. I have been impressed that he has some out with some logical position papers but talk is cheap.
I do believe that Cruz is real. By that I mean that he holds to true conservative principles, but, he is a politician.
I suppose we have to have politicians, if you have to have them then Cruz is the kind I want.
Jefferson Sessions as Vice President

This proposed model has the President directly managing seven subordinates which is optimal.
In non-cabinet level jobs
Sheriff Clarke should be FBI Director
Michelle Bachman as IRS Commissioner under Secretary Carl Icahn in Treasury
Admiral James A. Ace Lyons as Undersecretary of War - Navy Branch.
LTC Allen West as Undersecretary of War Army Branch.
Lynnette Diamond Hardaway and Rochelle Silk Richardson would be great as President Trumps Co-Press Secretaries.
I suggested Trey Gowdy as Speaker of the House, sadly Trey said I dont have a background in mental health,
so I wouldnt have the right qualifications to lead right now.
and Ted Cruz as Senate Majority Leader.
He has to become more aggressive. He's getting crushed.
I took one issue with your list a couple months ago, and I’ll repeat it in good faith.
You really, really need to put Sarah Palin on that list somehow.
:D
