Open carry approved in committee in the Florida Legislature.
Poll is at the bottom right of the page.
Why open carry when you can carry concealed?
Tell the bad guy who to shoot first?
I think every legal American Citizen that passes the back ground check should be able to open carry across America!

freep this poll, current only at 59% yes
Exactly, I won’t carry open.
Now on the other side of the coin, I can’t be prosecuted for accidentally exposing my weapon either. That used to be a problem for CCW holders.
One NO!
Still is a problem in Florida, although laws were passed to protect those who inadvertently exposed their weapon, and that’s why they’re going to this extent.

I’m not a big fan of open carry. I do know that if I’m the bad guy and I’m in a room full of human targets the first person I’m going to shoot is the guy stupid enough to show me that he has a holstered gun.
Oh, Floriduh legislaturds just passed 5th grade reading comprehension on the phrase “Shall not be infringed”?
I’m with you.
I don’t care if other people open carry, I just don’t want it to be mandatory.
That is it in a nutshell, FRiend.
Constitutional Carry for those that forget the Constitution.

” I cant be prosecuted for accidentally exposing my weapon either. “
That is a good thing.
But encouraging folks to OC instead of CC is a real bad idea, IMHO.

Because some people are small enough that concealed carry is difficult.
And because free men don't worry about "need to"
I despise those that only see one solution (theirs) to any problem.

The law isn't encouraging, it's allowing. Personally, I would rather conceal carry.
The legislation is not about open carry, it is about those with conceal carry license who inadvertently expose their weapon while carrying, I’ve had it happen on occasion myself, Floridians have been convicted of crimes because their shirt ran up above their weapon without their knowledge, this Bill would not allow an individual to be prosecuted in such an instance, unless it is proven the exposure was deliberate and meant as a threat.
There is a major push for open carry in Florida but this Bill is not it, not even a small step in that direction, this is a totally different issue.
Why? Draw! Open carry is BLING (look at me, I have a gun!). You tip off a potential opponent you are armed...you miss surprise as a tactic. You are visually challenging anyone else who might want to take it away from you. Sure it is a Constitutional Right...but it is tactically and strategically stupid.
