Reports say that the influential Teamsters union may snub Hillary Clinton in favor of endorsing a Republican candidate such as Donald Trump for the White House in 2016.
Such a move would likely be a notable boost for Republicans with Independents and “Reagan Democrats,” a critical segment of swing-voters that candidates spend millions trying to woo. These “middle of the road” type voters are crucial to winning bellwether regions like Michigan’s Macomb County.
Clinton also faces snubs from other powerful unions like the AFL-CIO and AFSCME, refusing to back Hillary as they try to push Vice President Joe Biden into the race.
According to The Gateway Pundit:
“Teamsters officials met behind closed doors today. The union refused to endorse Hillary Clinton for president. The officials told FOX News they want to meet with Donald Trump.
James Rosen reported:
FOX News has learned exclusively the 26 member board decided unanimously to withhold a presidential endorsement… Union executives told me they want to sit down with Republican candidates, most noatably, front-runner Donald Trump who has collaborated with unionized work forces across his real estate career.”
Former Michigan Congressman Pete Hoekstra says Trump won’t likely be the only GOP Presidential hopeful they sit down with.
“I would be surprised if they only met with Trump,” Hoekstra said in an interview with CIB. “They should meet with others. I think John Kasich might be worth a look from them, Rand Paul has shown a willigness to work with people, Marco Rubio perhaps also-there’s four right there.”
Hoekstra says the group may not want to meet with Jeb Bush.
“Hoffa tried to reach out and was constantly rebuffed by the Bush administration,” Hoekstra said. “So they probably wouldn’t want to meet with Jeb.”
Hoekstra is well acquainted with the Teamsters, which he says is immensely professional and more independent than other unions.

If this is about Keystone XL, Hillary will counter with elimination of the Cadillac Tax on health plans, and some ridiculous NLRB proposals.
The problem with the Teamsters, and other large unions, is that they don’t stay bought.
Just trying to get a better deal from the democrats by appearing to be interested in someone else.
Maybe the unions are realizing that when a business goes offshore, so do the jobs. No jobs, no union dues every month.
All those years in NYC Trump knows what it means to have a ‘sit down’, and how to forge a win-win situation.
The others like Rubio, Kasich and Yeb are rank amateurs who will simply promise the world; promises the union bosses know they can’t deliver.
I have no doubt that rank and file teamsters and other blue collar union workers would endorse and vote for Trump.
However, the union leadership is almost universally leftists, as are both the leadership and rank-and-file members of the government, teacher, and services unions.
Trump doesn’t need the union leaders money or endorsements (in trade for supporting some of their goals) and should go over their heads and appeal to the patriotism and economic welfare of the blue collar workers themselves.
THAT’S a WINNING strategy.!
just maybe some of the unions get it that the Democrats of today unlike 30+ years ago are hard left wingers who have taxed their good jobs off to the orient and south of the border
Seems to me that a union endorsement would lock it up for Trump.
Another poll two days ago had Trump up a couple over Hillary in MI. I actually believe MI may not only be "in play" but may be slightly tilting red.
If Trump holds his lead through to January and continues to make inroads with the Blue Dog/Yellow Dog Democrats and the Unions, Trump will be unstoppable.
Have to admit, running an un-conventional campaign as he is and taking his message directly to the voters as Trump is doing makes him far smarter than the political pundits have given him credit for.
While I still don't have a horse in this race, Trump is alot of fun to watch. He's certainly anti-establishment and he speaks his mind unfiltered. I really do like that about him. His voice is so desperately needed in America today.

Notice Ben Carson speaking out about how Fubar'd the VA is and shut it down, not to mention telling us how he really feels about Islam and it's radicals and now willing to stand as a Christian. Rand Paul as done it a time or two. Grab the popcorn if any of the other wannabee's had any brains they'd do it too.
Having spent time w/ these Blue Dog types here in S.E. Michigan, sometimes they are a bit more than politically incorrect ( don't ask ) but they want a no Sullbhit kinda guy. They knew in 09-10' that Obama was a joke and lost respect for him ( the UAW guys ) and it behooves me why they pulled the lever for him again given what they have said to my gnomes who know them. The arm twisting in 12' must have been painful...
He is not the gentlemen at times and much gruffer, but like Reagan who spent years in the public specter ( GE etc etc ) giving speeches, he knew how to get his message around and speak to the average American. Trump has been front and center in our lives on TV for over 10 years kind of like Reagan did. He too ( the Donald ) is going around the lame stream media, the perfumed punditry class, and K-Street trough fillers. And I love it, love it, love it....
The Democrats have been very hard left since McGovern in 1972. The rank and file activist side of the party has been since the mid 60s.

People have had it with the criminals in DC and that’s universal.
Reagan was hated by union leadership but admired by many of the rank and file. Trump might be tamping into this. In my experience, the rank and file of most unions are not hostile to a management who is perceived as fair.
When I was in college, I worked summers and breaks at a union sawmill. My father was in management and one summer we had a very contentious negotiation which ended minutes before the strike deadline. Shortly before the settlement, a shop steward pulled me aside and told that me Dad was a hard negotiator but that the union guys liked him because he had never forgotten where he had come from - he had worked himself from common-labor employee to management. One of my favorite memories of my father.
That's why Trump has a real chance.
