“ Kortney Moore, 18, from Rogue River, was in her Writing 115 class in Snyder Hall when one shot came through a window. She saw her teacher get shot in the head. The shooter was inside at that point, and he told people to get on the ground. The shooter was asking people to stand up and state their religion and then started firing away, Moore said. Moore was lying there with people who had been shot.

A community college in southwestern Oregon attacked Thursday by a gunman who killed 13 people is a gun-free zone guarded by an unarmed security guard, CBS News reports.
“Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum said 13 people were killed in a shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, and 20 others were injured. The male gunman was killed by officers in a shootout,” CBS Seattle reports, adding:
The community college is a gun-free campus. … Joe Olson, former president of the college, told The Associated Press the school has only one security officer on duty at a time, and that person isn’t armed.
He says last year, one of the biggest debates on campus was whether the school should have armed security officers. He says the college had three training exercises with local law agencies in the past two years, “but you can never be prepared for something like this.”

My concern is that the court battle concerning gun free zones on campuses possibly left the gunner with the impression that campuses were gun free zones if the gunner did not get the final word that campuses were not gun free zones.
