The world has been hearing about the Nazi gold train for weeks, and we may finally be getting closer to a confirmation or denial. The Polish army has converged upon the southwestern Poland site where the train could be located, with explosives, chemical, and radiation experts making sure there's no danger, especially since the train was rumored to have been booby-trapped, the AP reports. "Our goal is to check whether there's any hazardous material," a Polish colonel leading the search tells AFP. The military personnel are using ground-penetrating radar and mine detectors in their probe near Walbrzych, and the governor of the region notes that "other decisions" about the search for the train will be made after the site passes its safety check.
The colonel says the search will last six days or so, with soldiers digging a little over 3 feet below the surface, per the Daily Mailnot nearly deep enough, say the men who claim to have found the train. "[That's] pointless," Piotr Koper told reporters, per the Mail. "The train is about [26 feet] down. They will not find anything." He adds that he and partner Andreas Richterwho want 10% of whatever's on the train if it's foundhave figured out a way to get the train out. "We have spent much time examining the logistical problems.
We should be allowed to do this." They may be miffed at being left out of the loop, but the city of Walbrzych is reaping the benefits of what NBC News calls a "tourism gold rush," with restaurants, cab drivers, and tour operators reporting a boom. "Loch Ness is famous for a monster never found. This is like our Loch Ness monster," a local historian tells NBC. (Local authorities are nervous treasure-hunters may get run down by actual working trains.)
Careful fellas, there could be some ‘Negative Waves’ involved here.....
A couple of backhoes and front end loaders and you will know what you have by noon.
Cut a trench next to it and have the ROD guys check it out without having to access it from the top.
It doesn’t take weeks to figure out whats down there.
Check and see if their pants are falling down when they’re leaving. Gold is heavy.
ROD = EOD
woof! woof!
Then how can this be the first time I've heard about it?
A pound of gold weighs the same as a pound of feathers.
A month ago, and not the first article.
Which one would you rather get hit by?
Right... They are going to check the gold for "hazardous material". Then a large portion will mysteriously disappear!
The gold on the off chance I have sufficient wit to gain control of it.
“Then how can this be the first time I’ve heard about it?”

No it isn’t! A pound of feathers is 16 OZ to a pound. Gold is 12 OZ Troy weight to the pound.
LOL! You are funny
About 70 years late, but I’m glad to see the Polish Army back in action. /sarc
The Polish Army and the Polish Home Army did fight bravely during WW2, though outnumbered and outgunned.
A late friend of mine, Stefan Korbonski, was one of the leaders of the Polish resistance (Polish Home Army and irregulars) including the resistance in Warsaw.
He was also one of the few Polish leaders who gave the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto arms and supplies with which to resist the Nazi onslaught that eventually leveled it. For this bravery he was given the Yad Vashem award by Israel, their highest honor given to a non-Jew, for acts of bravery during WW2.
Polish fliers had a magnificent record of kills against the Luftwaffe and their soldiers fought bravely, esp. at Monte Casino.
Hope they find the train and use the gold wisely.
A volume of feathers weighs less than a volume of gold.
Now, have they found these feathers yet?
Ping!
