About 70 years late, but I’m glad to see the Polish Army back in action. /sarc
The Polish Army and the Polish Home Army did fight bravely during WW2, though outnumbered and outgunned.
A late friend of mine, Stefan Korbonski, was one of the leaders of the Polish resistance (Polish Home Army and irregulars) including the resistance in Warsaw.
He was also one of the few Polish leaders who gave the Jews of the Warsaw Ghetto arms and supplies with which to resist the Nazi onslaught that eventually leveled it. For this bravery he was given the Yad Vashem award by Israel, their highest honor given to a non-Jew, for acts of bravery during WW2.
Polish fliers had a magnificent record of kills against the Luftwaffe and their soldiers fought bravely, esp. at Monte Casino.
Hope they find the train and use the gold wisely.
Why would the Germans bury a bunch of tanks when they desperately needed them? Same for weapons, explosives, etc.
