RAF sergeant in uniform moved by hospital to avoid "offending" other patients

A hospital has apologised after an RAF sergeant was asked to move out of sight of other patients in case his uniform caused offence.

Sgt. Mark Prendeville, who has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia, was at the Emergency unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kent after fire extinguisher chemicals got in to his eyes during a training exercise

Aircraft engineer Prendeville was relocated twice by hospital staff who said his uniform “might upset people” because “we have all kinds of different cultures coming in”.

The 38-year-old was “dumbfounded” to be told on two different occasions to stand out of the view of other patients. He was wearing a camouflage combat uniform.

63-year-old Jim Prendeville, who also served in the armed forces, said he was “disgusted” by the way his son was treated.

“One of the staff asked him if he would stand around the corner so he wouldn’t be seen by other people in case it may upset them because he was in uniform.

“He went round the corner not to make a fuss but then another member of staff asked him to move again in case anyone saw him because he was in uniform.”

“He said 'why should I move', and they said because your uniform might upset people, we have all kinds of different cultures coming in and you might upset them.”

“The way they treat our servicemen - they’re willing to put their lives on the line and they’re treated like lepers when they go to A&E.”

The sergeant, a father-of-one was treated for the chemicals in his eyes and prescribed drops. He is expected to make a full recovery.

It offends very few here, only some of them (not all), and the usual white anti-war crowd.

Our country has problems, but its not finished or messed up beyond repair, far from it. And with all respect, the US is messed up in many ways.

Many of that group are in fact Sikh or Hindu. And thank god for the decades of those and other ‘ethnic’ doctors and nurses in the NHS.

R Kipling has ‘nailed it’ on most of his works.....

Of all the "bones of contention" I have against the Disney organization, the biggest is how they have robbed the children (and adults) of the world with their insipid version of the Mowgli stories as portrayed in "The Jungle Book".

They have also, in effect, hidden away the rest of the stories contained in the First & Second Jungle Books. Such a loss!

Restaurant Refuses Service To Soldier For Carrying Firearm

Sep 28, 2015

Over the weekend, a soldier with the National Guard was told to leave his gun outside of the Nicholasville Waffle House or he wouldn’t be served. The situation is now getting national attention.

Billy Welch said that he stopped at the Waffle House Sunday morning for breakfast. He was in his Army National Guard uniform and had his gun holstered to his side. After ordering his food, Welch said that a waitress signaled for him to come over.

“I got up and I walked over to them, asked them how they were doing and stuff, and they said I’d have to take my firearm outside,” said Welch. “I don’t feel comfortable taking my firearm away from me. I always keep it with me and they said, ‘it’s one of our policies.’”

Welch said that he didn’t think too much of it, just told the waitress that he could not leave his firearm outside.

“You know, if I can’t have my firearm, then I can’t be here,” said Welch. “I walked inside to the other waitress. I said, ‘thank you, but no thank you ma’am. I’m gonna have to leave.’”

Welch started hearing from people and organizations all over the country after one witness took the details of the situation to Facebook.

“I have a bunch of family members and friends who have been active military and in the military and retired and it hurts my feelings when people disrespect them,” said Micaela Shaw, who was sitting in a booth nearby. “I just wanted to stand up for him.”

Her posts quickly went viral.

The owner of the Nicholasville Waffle House made this statement, “For many years we have had a “No Firearms” police in place in our restaurants. We continue to believe this is the best policy for the safety of our customers and associates.

Wow, I am speechless. Another Politically Correct atrocity in Not So Great Britain. Even in America’s most loony left enclaves, this would not have happened.

Just came across this on the internet

.....................................................

daniel occoner 7 months ago

Reminds me of my close friend from high school. He got shipped off to Vietnam a year later, and I wrote him several times over the two years he was there, and he told me no one else had written him but me. Not even his high school sweetheart who found someone else while he was gone and fighting for his country. He finally made it home, Too bad it was in a coffin with an American flag draped over it. He was killed week before he was to return to the states. I still think about him from time, to time, although it seems like another lifetime now. He was 19 years old.

I will never understand the scorn for the military.

In 1985 my youngest was a junior in high school and a teacher made him remove a U.S Army book cover.

I was furious,as was his father, but my son didn’t want us contacting the teacher or school so we let it go.

By the way he went into the Marines a year later.

Obviously he didn't want the Marines finding out about that Army book cover.
