Top GOP official seeks McConnell ouster as Senate leader (Villere- Vice Chair RNC)
WashTimes ^ | 9/27/2015 | Ralph Hallow

Posted on 09/27/2015 3:38:46 PM PDT by VinL

“McConnell needs to resign!!” Louisiana GOP Chairman Roger Villere wrote...

Villere isn’t just any Republican. He’s the longest-serving state GOP chairman in the nation...the vice chairman of the RNC... also serves on the RNC’s executive committee...

Aides for McConnell...did not return repeated calls and emails seeking comment. {Priebus} was unavailable Sunday.

{Boehner resigned] and ...an ideological irony there is that his probable replacement, Kevin McCarthy...is closer politically to Mr. Boehner than to the more ideologically passionate members ...

The same may hold true for Mr. McConnell...

Villere said...“Honestly, I haven really thought of a replacement,”

Villere did say what {offends rank and file about McConnell]:

— his failure to challenge executive overreach by President Obama or fight to repeal Obamacare and other unpopular measures.

“Mr. McConnell could have suspended consideration of confirmations for all presidential appointees, except for those who are essential to national security, until the president rescinded his unconstitutional executive action on amnesty.” M

“This would have been a constitutionally appropriate response to the overreach of the executive branch... “It would have transformed the political environment, greatly encouraged Republican donors and grass-roots activists, and positioned us to refuse to confirm replacements for any Supreme Court openings that might occur ”

[ALSO}, “Not trying to repeal Obamacare, not defunding Planned Parenthood, not trying to stop illegal immigration .....“That is what Republicans ran on and once they were elected they did not follow up with their promises.”

Villere... said he was moved to act after reading a story quoting Mr. McConnell as saying he wasn’t going to support a potential government shutdown in order to block federal funding for Planned Parenthood, a private organization that provides abortion services.

“If we lose the battle, we will never win the presidency again in my lifetime,”

Unfortunately, I don’t believe there are enough characters available to add the following to my tagline: 2016 will be a year of retribution for GOPe.

Yet more fallout from the Trump Effect as Trump’s unabashed truth-telling and fearless neutering of the kommie media triggers a revolt amongst the great unwashed GOP masses and emboldens a few conservative Congress critters and GOP leaders to grow a few pairs ...

Finally, someone at the RNC got struck by a bolt of good sense:

==

Pubbies better hurry and do something or McConnell will preside over them losing the Senate in the 2016 election.

Republicans are defending about 24 seats, while the Dems are defending about 6. It would take only a few losses to demote McConnell to minority leader status.

The ill-conceived 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt senators who protect lawless presidents and activist justices along with it.

Been saying that for years. Giving the States back the power to select its own Senators would mean that local elections and Governor races would become huge in importance.

That’s the way that the Founding States wanted it.

Smell the fear. Only thing I can figure is that they have internals showing that they’ll be pounded into the sand come 2016 if they don’t jettison the turdle.

Do they have a Vacate the Chair procedure in the Senate like they do in the House? What is it called in the Senate?

If they do not have an official term for that procedure, may I respectfully the following apropos phrase "Flushing the Toilet"!!!

Thats a good post. But theyre not going to just lose the senate. Oh no. They’re about to be pounded into oblivion when majorities of the base don’t show up.

The gop has always preferred to be in the minority. This guy gets that the gop is toying with being completely eliminated. As in no longer enough of a minority to matter.

I believe Ted Cruz had lots to do with this.

Calling Mitch out on the lies and trickery that he pulled on TPA and other legislation that he put before the Republican Senators.

Ted called him a liar and a cheat and the words stuck.

Roger Villere. Certainly French if I ever heard it. Neat.

I’m delighted he spoke up, dying to know what
Rinse Pre-Bush thought, about such a comment
made from such an important perch on the RNC!

Frankly, I was looking at Jeff Sessions for the Trump ticket. He is rather the wizard of the senate rules by now, knows where all the bodies are buried and the corruption dwells, and could be of endless help to Trump, whom he already advises. I hope they are friends, by now. It appeared that way in the stadium rally in Alabama.
