First Ann Coulter Came For The Jews, Now It’s the Catholics’ Turn
American Spectator ^ | 9/24/15 | Aaron Goldstein

First it was “f---king Jews.” Now Ann Coulter has turned her attention to Catholics.

In response to a tweet from David Limbaugh who spoke in agreement with Catholics who object to Pope Francis’s economic critique, Coulter tweeted, “I’m an American and this is why our founders (not ‘immigrants’!) distrusted Catholics & wouldn’t make them citizens.”

Some might argue that she is merely being sarcastic. Please forgive me if I fail to see the sarcasm of “f---king Jews.” But if her comments about Catholics were an attempt at sarcasm, it might be useful if she attempted to demonstrate a rudimentary knowledge of American history.

Just look at the stats. Catholics are too liberal compared to other Christians. And unlike the Jews, they can’t blame emigration to Israel for thinning out their conservative ranks. It’s part of their tradition.

And I’m Catholic and went to Catholic school. Way too many of those Catholic school alumni are raging liberals today as adults.

Coulter’s onto something.

She’s a moron.

Restrictions on Catholic immigration was lifted before 1800 (Less than 20 years after we gained our independence)

At the end of the day, she collects her paycheck from either gullible conseratives or liberal Republicans, brags about how witty and Swiftian she [thinks she] is, and then lets her good buddy Bill Maher do his liberal spiel to her.

She is no conservative.

I think the question she is trying to raise is "should it have been"? And, perhaps, "is there any way to reverse that policy"?

The Jesuit sect is very far left and sadly spread Marxism throughout Latin America.

I believe Castro was studying to be a Jesuit at one time too.

I think the current far far far left Pope was a Jesuit too?

The Catholic Church is a haven for the far left for some odd reason.

But Ann's cheap shot at Catholic is lame .

Ann is often too clever by half for the people who read her columns.

The "f%$king jews" comment comes DIRECTLY from Hillary saying it to Dick Morris.

And when she got into trouble for calling John Edwards a "faggot", she was simply repeating what a black actor said to another actor and got fired over it.

The MSM squeals much, but they often just look for a cheap shot, and don't realize that Ann is mocking them.

The media is savvy enough to realize that their basic audience has an IQ of 70.

Intelligent people "got" why she said those things.

Unfortunately very few people have the brain power to understand her sarcasm, so they just simply buy into some "Ann Coulter is mean" meme.

Coulter overestimates people's comprehension all the time.

Maybe that is her weakness.

She assumes that there is intelligent life out there in America.

Alas, there is a vanishingly small amount of it.

I don't like Coulter's statement about Catholics.

But I get why she said it.

I was born and raised Catholic. As was my wife.

We attended a Catholic church after we got married, but eventually we left. The priest, a very nice man, gave us very little in the way of the Bible, but a LOT in the way of leftist nonsense.

His homilies contained subjects like the death penalty (it's bad!).

But pro-life? Never.

He initially had petitions against same-sex marriage, but the next week he removed them, but never told us why.

I am CERTAIN that some "Good Catholics" told him that they wouldn't come to the church anymore if he did that.

So he folded like a cheap tent.

If I wanted to listen to some squish drone on about leftist causes and continuously ask for money, I can go to some Episcopalian church down the road.

I believe that by “founders”, she refers to the Pilgrims, and she’s correct. They despised the pope and all things Catholic. Wouldn’t even celebrate Christmas (Christmas), as it was a mass instigated by Catholics — so they believed.

I'm not aware of any religious-based restrictions on immigrants from the beginning of our nation. During the colonial period, Pennsylvania was very welcoming of different faiths.

During the colonial era, Maryland was founded by a Catholic, Lord Baltimore, but Catholics there later lost the right to hold office and it was illegal to have Catholic schools. Charles Carroll of Carrollton, who signed the Declaration of Independence, had no political rights as long as Maryland was a colony, but could vote and hold office once Maryland rebelled against the crown.

Catholic military officers from France and Poland contributed to the Continental Army.

It was against the law in early Massachusetts to observe Christmas—unless it fell on a Sunday you were supposed to work. The Puritans also didn’t have much use for mainstream Anglicans or for Quakers.

Most assuredly he is...this was discussed when he was chosen.

He is also a Argentine....that should close any debate as to where his politics are.

The first reformers were critical of Roman Catholics definitely.

They believed the papacy was the seat of antichrist and the popes ‘antichrist’..

Pilgrims, puritans, whatever carried with them what would be considered an anti Rome Bible today, called the Geneva Bible. Came before the King James.

And amazingly, scripture would call rabinic Judaism ‘’antichrist’ too..so is Islam..

Ann swerves into something that was known 500 years ago during the reformation.

What would a protestant daughter do if everything they thought they knew turned out to be just a Roman lie?

The reformers were more protestant than people are today.

Satan has done some subtle work on the sheep. Prophetic

Here, here.

Ann, please use your acrid wit and shred us Catholics. We need the penance and flogging due to our sins.

I remember when Ann Coulter said something offending Jews last week and Mark Levin called her a “jack...” and Michael Medved said, “This is shameful.” While both men are brilliant, both showed pride.

I read that she was/is Episcopalian.
Same thing though, yer right.
IAE, she was just making a categorical statement: the Pilgrims escaped religious persecution in England by way of Holland so they could persecute their persecutors in the new world.
