Donald Trump earned a rare rebuke from a conservative audience on Friday after criticizing Sen. Marco Rubio, who as emerged as his prime sparring partner in recent days.
Speaking to a social conservative crowd at the Values Voters Summit, where Rubio spoke earlier in the day, Trump was met with a wave of boos after calling his Republican rival a clown in his speech.

Here we go again! I’m not sure that Trump was booed. It could have been Rubio.
However, for the sake of conversation, assume Trump was booed.
CNN:
“Trump praises Bible and Christmas, but gets boos for insulting Rubio”
Change the timing, et voila, the commies get what they want; the war on Trump is served.
Booing was first, THEN, the Bible and Christmas! Switch the two parts of the phrase around and the progressives achieve the twisted truth.
Not different from yesterday’s post about “I know about Syria BECAUS I create jobs.”
See post #84.
Yeah. That was rhe prevailing opinion when he ran for the Senate.
Besides, it's funny how a guy who has no chance just gets under your skin
"He cant get above 7%. Why is that?"
I don't know, maybe for the same reason he was polling at -1 during the aforementioned Senate race, according to one poll.
Yet he won handily.
"His problem is he only appeals to the conservative base. He has no appeal to indies and cant bring in any others."
LOL...just LOL!
Congratulations. That's the dumbest statement you've made to me so far...and that's saying something.
Your dislike of the most solid Constitutional conservative in the race is noted, however.
Where do you see that? Surely not here. :-D
The only people ignoring reality are the ones sitting around looking for Trump to vanish because their fantasy land cannot comprehend that he is beating their preferred candidate.
I watched twice - I’ve been to rallies like that:
First - Trump said the word “clown” was very quickly, he had to introduce him some way - in fact, I had to watch a second time to even find when he said it. He went past it so quickly and it is such a common term (at least in my world) that it didn’t even register the first time.
Second - The crowd was CLEARLY BOOING RUBIO - he is not well liked there, as can be seen when Trump went after him on Amnesty. If Trump had a called Reagan a clown in that forum, then yes, Trump would get boo’d.
Third - If you replaced the name “Rubio” with “Obama”, what would the crowd have done? They would have BOO’D, for sure!!! Would this reporter have then claimed that this conservative crowd hated Trump and LOVES OBAMA - as they are trying to claim here?
I have NEVER SEEN such an organized attempt to prevent us from choosing our nominee in my lifetime, and it has been a rather long lifetime, so far.
Well, a couple, anyway. It’s a start. :P
They were booing Rubio.
I never said I dislike him, you did. You sure put your own self up on high horse.
All I said is that Cruz couldn’t win the general election. The dumbest statement I made in your opinion is the real problem and you cannot admit it.
That is not dislike, it is my opinion.
I’m not on the Trump train but I’m trying to keep an open mind.
“Im a Trump supporter, but want him to stop the personal attacks during his speeches.”
Sorry, but SOME OF US take it personal when a person runs for US Senate, collects money and votes from us by telling us he’s the candidate for Secure Borders, and then once in office, DOUBLE CROSSES US by getting in bed with Schumer on Amnesty.
So, take your Anti-Trump DIATRIBES elsewhere, some of us here actually ENJOY seeing Rubio PUT IN HIS PLACE.
True, but Trump has shown himself to have a very thin skin, and is unable to let any perceived slight pass by. I think the gameplan right now is to have so many people needling Trump that he is constantly attacking in return, with the intent that the average Republican and average independent just get sick and tired of listening to it and tune him out. Trump's ego is his Achilles heel, and his opponents are going to use it.
“Trump thought they were booing him”
I didn’t get that, myself. Thanks for the link.
Naw, Trump would never take 2nd fiddle -he’s the alpha male. I like Cruz too, but he just doesn’t have the cross over appeal that Trump has.
Anti-Trump? Are you serious? You tell one of Trump’s most ardent supporters anti-Trump? You must be new here. I am a huge supporter, but I don’t like the personal name calling. I can think and say what I like - regardless of whether you approve or not,.
Is it thin skin, or a calculated approach? You can’t say that it hasn’t worked so far, and I believe once Donald sees it’s no longer productive, he’ll change his approach.
Negative campaigning WORKS, that’s why it will NEVER go away.
This all seems overblown. I hear a mixed reaction and not a very loud one at that. Some laughs, some ahhs, not much that could be called booing or cheering.
Considering that Rubio got a lot of applause during his speech and Trump didn't get as warm a reception, logic would indicate that the booing was for Trump, not for Rubio.
Rubio said “Trump does not know names of middle-east terrorists, and therefor is not knowledgeable on foreign policy”.
Trump’s full time job has been running a nulti-billion dollar company. Rubio’s full time job has been to give speeches, debate in senate, and memorize names of terrorist leaders.
Take your pick, whi is better.
