Post-Debate Poll: Trump Increases Lead; Fiorina Leaps, Carson Sinks

A Morning Consult poll, released Friday, surveyed 504 registered voters who watched Wednesday’s Republican primary debate and has only good news for Republican frontrunner Donald Trump and Carly Fiorina. While the poll’s sample size is small (with a 4.4% margin of error), the poll’s trend is worth noting.

In this same poll, prior to Wednesday night’s debate, Trump sat at 33% support. Dr. Ben Carson sat in second place with 17% support. Today Trump enjoys 36% support. Carson is still in second place but with just 12% support.

Trump’s lead increased from +16 points to +24%. That’s an +8% jump.

With their shared status as outsiders, it appears as though Carson’s support went to Fiorina. Prior to the debate the former-Hewlett Packard CEO had just 3% support. She now sits in third place with 10%, only -2 points behind second place Carson.

“Did you notice that every Republican blogger except for Anne Coulter trashed Trump in their responses to the debate.”

And his support increased. The establishment must be very confused.

Seems to me that Cruz has more invested against planned parenthood, but many crediting Carly as if its been her biggest thing

The main thing that everyone needs to keep in mind is that no debate will ever change the fact that Trump will not be beholden to anyone but the voters, and anyone else who might win the nomination will essentially be owned by the rich and powerful individuals and organizations who raise the thousands of millions of dollars of the necessary campaign “contributions”.

The only reason many of the 16 candidates are still in the race is to attack Trump during the debates. Rest assured, if Jeb were polling at 20% that guys like Huckabee, Christie, Kasich would be gone already.

GOOD!! Trumps jumps up again. Ugh about Carly but she’ll hopefully slide back down to the bottom! I want Cruz up there beside Trump, hoping.

Secretariat was truly great...Carly far from it. I actually resented her picking that code name.

She actually thought the question was: "What celebrity do people most often tell you, you resemble?"

It was an honest mistake :P

I suppose ‘Mr. Ed’ was already taken.

The real Secretariat won the race, then collected the purse. Ms. Carly (Girl Power!) took a shortcut through the infield, knocked over a bunch of vendors’ carts, and grabbed the dough while track workers got laid off.

I hope everyone soon knows just how bad Fiorina really is at running things!

My own Hillary fan lifelong democrat sister is supporting Trump over 2 issues...she has had it with illegals -and- she likes that Trump is against cutting social security. She lives in a California town where busloads of illegals were brought in from the southern border.

Slight math error....it is NOT 8% jump, it is 50% jump!

That has been posted about 27,000,000 times on FreeRepublic. You post it like it's new information to you. Carly lost by 10 points to Boxer. A very respectable showing for Carly in a deep blue state and against an entrenched incumbent who has been in Washington for decades.

But the fact is I don't know and you don't know if it will or will not. So please don't say it will, when you don't know. No one can predict the future.

No one thought Nixon could win the presidency after he lost in 1960, but he did. I could go on. It is better to say, "It can't happen until it does."

Something I find impressive is how hard and constantly Trump is running. He doesn’t sit on his butt after the debate he flys to New Hampshire. He ain’t playin.

You know mama, the people who post on the site are dumb and/or have an agenda for their own candidate so they post lie after lie after lie, like we have no idea what is going on. It’s pathetic.

Well, many primaries are open primaries. Some states anyone can vote, but most states Republicans and Independents can vote. In Virginia, no one registers by party, so anyone can vote in any party's primary.

So for Virginia, I expect many democrats to be voting in the republican primary because the democrat side won't be too much of a race.

Many work full time jobs. There are those of us who thrive on research not just reading the threads posted. Others rely on that. We are fortunate to have time, curiosity or resources to dig further.
And then their are the trolls for a better description.
