With still months to go before the Iowa caucuses, Donald Trump hopped in a golf cart here at Iowa State University and took a victory lap.
Hundreds of rowdy football fans swarmed the businessman-turned-presidential candidate Saturday as he zipped around the football stadium -- each extending a hand, hoping for a high-five, and maybe a selfie.
"Go get 'em Donald!" one man shouted as Trump worked the tailgating crowd before the day's Iowa-Iowa State game.
"I love you!" a woman cried out, rushing in for a picture.
All the while, The Donald marveled, urging this reporter to take note of the enthusiastic throngs of Iowans and asking if other candidates could galvanize throngs of people in the same way. ...
But even as Trump veered off in his favorite direction toward the polling that has consistently shown him leading the pack of now 16 Republican candidates, he hinted at something just as new as the camo-colored version of his now-iconic Make America Great Again cap that sat on his head: a Donald Trump with softer edges

The protesters against Trump are playing into his hands.
He is smarter than they are and is playing them like a fiddle.
Trump is pathologically incapable of a "nice" playbook.
Relax, It shows that Trump is appealing to more than the “milk and cookies” type, this is a good thing. Recall Hillary saying something the other day trying to show she was hip? It was so pathetic I have forgotten what it was she said.
Bingo.
Outside of immigration, Trump's positions are really not that different than Guliani. He can't afford to change his MO at this point.
I think his popularity will keep surging.
And I will vote for him as Cruz is just too low in the polls and I cant take the chance of Carson winning.
But I hope he’s crazy like a fox and not just crazy :)
Sure he’s narcissistic. If he turns the country towards greatness again, I’ll live with it.
I couldn’t care less if he was nice. It would be refreshing to hear something substantial out of him for a change instead of vague platitudes and self-aggrandizement.
Someday you will realize that your emperor has no clothes.
Sure dawg. Have a dog biscuit. You’re either part of the answer, or part of the problem.
You get your candidate (whoever it is) generating the kinds of poll numbers and support across the board, and we’ll take a look at THAT guy, ok?
Trump isn't the answer so I guess I'm part of the problem.
You get your candidate (whoever it is) generating the kinds of poll numbers and support across the board, and well take a look at THAT guy, ok?
Let's compare Trump's number with Cruz's number come Iowa.
Go Hawks !
See you there. I’m for Ted Cruz too, and I’m following my candidates’ lead, i.e., I’m not trashing Trump in fact I’m supporting Trump the way Cruz is, in collaborative works (Iran Deal protest for one) that work for the benefit of America.
Likewise, Sarah Palin doesn’t strike me as an idiot, when she says things like “thank God he’s running!” (Trump).
I’d love to see Ted Cruz out in front, but political reality is political reality, sometimes we eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats us.
See you in Iowa FRiend!
Go Bulldogs!
Very good.
I think Donald’s approach has been good, but he’s begun to realize there is a small difference in what appeals to the two sexes, and he has begun to adjust.
I completely support Donald toning it down.
Just a bit. Keep being yourself Donald, but go a tiny bit easier on everyone, and in particular on women.
Keep on being yourself though. Don’t change. Just go a bit easier on them.
Trump hit a grand slam on the first pitch.
Build the wall.
You could almost hear the collective “Yes” across the country.
When you are ahead in the polls, people will take another look at you. He also gets huge amounts of media compared to the other candidates(thanks liberal media).
His national recognition is 94%. No other candidate is even close.
In a poll that asked you to pick a word to describe the candidate, Arrogant and blowhard were the top two to describe Trump.
I think Trump supporters are saying, yes he is an arrogant blowhard but he is our arrogant blowhard.
Donald Trump is taking Rush Limbaugh’s subtle advice ...
